As 'backstory' and a reminder to myself or others following this case here on WS, CR's behavior was 'creepy' to other young women 'living in the area' he "stared at without saying a word to" or 'repeatedly contacted' on SM according to MSM (excerpt from link and one link to an article below) (quotes/semi-quotes are mine to paraphrase).

I will never get over how awful it is that he acted on his sick impulses in person with Mollie, 'laying in wait' to assault her, and thinking he could get away with it, if it weren't for the video footage from a random camera on a lone country road property he was not aware of that led LE to his doorstep.

It makes my skin crawl and my stomach queasy to think of him plotting his evil encounter with Mollie, and pouncing on her when she was just out for her usual exercise on her way to her mom's one fine summer's eve.

His prior behavior that 'creeped out' other young women as documented in this article and others on MSM I truly hope the DA can use to show 'malice aforethought' or his tendencies towards young women in his 'scopes' at the very least leading up to what he did to Mollie. JMHO of course.

The man charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year old Mollie Tibbetts made repeated unsolicited advances on social media towards local young women, according to a New York Times report.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera was a familiar fixture in Brooklyn, Iowa, where he worked for the last four years at a dairy farm a few miles from where Tibbetts was last seen.

Brooke Bestell, a local 20-year-old woman, told the Times she once turned him down when he asked her out on a date, but he repeatedly messaged her on Facebook late at night though they didn't speak in person.

"He would just stare. He wouldn't really like talk," Bestell said. "Something about him was off."

Bestell said he would message her "just over and over, like every week or so." She said the most recent message from Bahena Rivera came June 13 at 3 a.m.

After Bahena Rivera was arrested, two of Bestell's friends told her that he had also messaged them and Bestell said she wondered "how many other girls he probably was trying to talk to."

‘Something about him was off’: Other women say Mollie Tibbetts' suspected murderer messaged them repeatedly on social media over the years
That's exactly what I was talking about when I said it seemed he had problems connecting to people. Too much a coward to talk to them in person, and instead hid behind his computer and continued to message them, even after one had turned him down. In Mollies case he just took what he wanted. Imo

I don’t think it would make one bit of differnce even if we took a vote because we do not have enough information.

We don’t know who the car belonged to.
We don’t know if CR had permission to drive it.
We don’t know if he had a DL, phoney or otherwise.
We don’t know the extent of the relationship between the Langs and the Tibbett family but they’re obviously not strangers.
So we also don’t know if the Tibbetts family holds Yarrabee Farms responsible.
Even if they did, given all we don’t know, we don’t know if a lawsuit would be successful.
Didn't the farm say he gave them a DL and SS card?

True. But that doesn’t make him or her legally responsible when it comes to murder.
We'll just have to wait and see. HS/ICE were at YF yesterday for two hours. I doubt it was a social call. JMO

He's a perverted Don Juan. Face lit with sinister decision. Cracked ice for temples. He stinks with silent pride in his barbarity. No mental hygiene.
Couldn’t agree more nor have expressed this better myself... A Subhuman Dark Spider on Ice <shiver>, no offense to the real spiders that I find icky but they have their place in the biosphere and their positives that CR does not!!!! Just sayin’

Does illegal activity

The car allowed him to conceal the crime, but it was not necessary to commit the crime.

He could easily walk 1.7 miles after targeting Mollie. It's a bit of a coincidence that he chose an abduction site along a secluded part of her running route, unless it was pre-planned. If it was pre-planned, he had a plan to get there without a car too.

If he was brazen enough to circle around in a vehicle several times following her and risking being seen, he would have been brazen enough to murder her and leave her near that secluded road, and then go jogging back down the road like he claimed to do in the first place. Imo

An out of state ID.

What I think would be ironic is if, after wasting all this time discussing something that has nothing to do with MT, it was found that CR wasn't the one driving. Any chance that one of the "couple" who left after he was arrested may have been involved too? MOO just to try to change the subject...

Without the car, I don’t think this crime occurs in this way, on this day. Could he have committed this crime without a car? Absolutely. That being said, the only way I would hold the car owner responsible, is if they knew what this guy was about to do. That’s almost certainly not the case.

If it’s a company car what about letting a person without a DL drive it?

According to them he only produce an out of state ID and SS card

If he was allowed to drive a car illegally that bears some responsibility doesn’t it?

But he didn't do that because he wanted to get away with it. Were it not for a stroke of luck and LE determination, he almost did.

one other article I read claimed that CR followed and tried talking to at least one other girl while walking who I think was creeped out and called her boyfriend. I have to wonder if anyone else besides MT called him out on his behavior. We may never know.
‘Hope springs eternal’ that LE has a lot of ‘cards up their sleeves’ and other aphorisms...

That's very possible. LE did seize two cars.

It sure helped in the stalking, abduction, disposal and concealment of the crime.
Yes it did, but he could have done all those things without it. Others have certainly committed similar crimes without the use of a car. It may have been an added bonus, but not necessary.

Imagine if that one video didn’t exist, that’s how close he was to getting away with it

And I would even venture to say someone else could have possibly been blamed

The website is a news service. It does have an editorial staff and does have by-lined stories. I doubt a student wrote the article because it relied on unnamed LE sources. Nobody is required to believe it but it is a legit news organization, imo.

Yes there’s a lot of online news services. See post 2 of this thread regarding MSM. If you think it’s MSM you might want to check with the mods.

Didn't they say at first the car was stolen? Or at least registered to someone else? Do we know for sure who actually owns the car? Would it even be a factor in the trial?

I agree. And as dispicable as it all is, it’s good CR confessed to his involvement or people would be questioning if he was just an easy mark for LE to close a file on.

BGM Football Carrying Community On Angel Wings

"They all knew her their whole life so they are doing it for her." The Initials of Mollie Tibbets, Scott's sister on the front of the Bears' jerseys, set in a heart with wings. "Basically, it touches their heart and so they can keep her in their heart forever."

For a few hours each week football can clear their minds from a heartbreak they'll never forget but it's never far removed. The initials M.C.T for Mollie Cecilia Tibbetts are on the back of the helmet. It has become a view many opponents are seeing often as Bears players speed ahead of them into the end zone. Jordyn said, "It's like a little piece of like pride knowing that we are doing all this for her."

Excellent video at link.

Yes, in a way it's a good thing he did use the car, otherwise he might not have been in custody right now.

I don’t think the owners of the farm he worked at or owner of the car he used to pursue and assault & kill Mollie were on top of things like this nor paying attention as long as the work got done, and the workers were ‘provided for’ in terms of a roof over their heads, a paycheck, and had access to a mode of transportation for getting into town for food and essentials, etc.

Not many farms in the US that hire laborers (in my experience having lived within spitting distance of them in 4 different states over 40 years) have practices in place like an HR department, tight management and insurance, etc. like some other small businesses do. JMO of course
