He’s asking for the PI fees

The illegal immigrant who allegedly murdered Iowa woman Mollie Tibbetts has asked US taxpayers to help fund the legal battle that could lead to his freedom, a report said on Wednesday.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera — who was working and living in the US illegally — asked the government for an initial $5,000 to pay a private investigation firm to work on his case, according to documents revealed by RadarOnline..

Did he fire the current attorneys and ask for a court appointed one?

They have to get paid somehow, unless they are doing it pro bono, they are the ones that said they were hired by the family, not hat they took the case pro bono.

They court, as far as I know, doesn’t pay for an attorney of his choosing, they appoint one

the attorney might require a statement from who ever they made a financial agreement with. the court is not addressing the family in this document. it does not say family of, it says his specific name.

<modsnip: snipped quote that was removed>

I'm wondering how this document was leaked? o_O Surely not the prosecution, so his attorneys? Its the same source that said Yarrabee Farms owned the Malibu. Wasn't the gag order lifted?

YC news dot com. Where are they getting this stuff?

Posting guidelines:

* We do not sleuth or accuse people who have not been named by LE as suspects or POI's.

* Do not link to social networking pages of people who have not been named by LE as suspects/POI. The few exceptions are victims' pages, LE and MSM pages.

* Questions about the rules or mod decisions should be addressed to a mod in a private message. DO NOT discuss them in the thread.

* If you see a post that violates TOS, please do not reply to it. Alert the post ASAP.

* If you quote a post which later is removed by a mod, your post is subject to removal, as well.

*Websleuths is a fact based site. Provide a MSM link for your assertions. Rumors are not allowed. Sites such as reddit or sub-reddit are not approved to be linked, referenced or discussed.

Bumping this for convenient reference. Note the last point.

Is the financial document reportedly completed by CR sourced from MSM or a related twitter? Otherwise wherever it came from, someone should ask a mod if it’s okay to be discussed. I don’t believe Radar is considered MSM either, unless something has changed.

if the document is real it should be public record. I do not know how to find it there. I only know for my own state how to find similar.

I don't agree. it is to show he can not pay so the state should pay.

Ok, I see where you are getting the info, yes, he filled that out to have the state pay for the PI to investigate his case, which was supposedly granted.

I’m not sure this is true or not but if it is what a travesty!

Ya, the warrant is 6-11-1994=24

6-11-1997=21

There are birthday cake pics of him and it looks like there are 16-17 candles and IM looks pregnant, so that must have been 2015-16?

So 1997 could be correct??
Is it possible that JB's birthday is in '94 and CR's is in '97? That way he wouldn't have had to worry about going to school because his ID would say he was over 18. That may be how he found his new name, looked for someone who had the same birthday but wasn't a minor. Not likely, but it could happen.

If you look closely at the affadavit, where his name is written, the scratched out part looks like he started to write "Chr"...versus "Cri". Does anyone else see this? Imo...
Maybe he had someone else fill it out for him because he's not good at reading & writing English. The person may not have known the correct spelling at first.

Radar was already said to be disallowed. That must be a word, spellcheck didn't change it.

I’ve been saying all along that I would bet his fake ID has him older because he would have had to have been in school.

Don’t know if the new document is real or not but if it is that is a big possibility that’s what he did to avoid going to school

I’d say a very good sign it’s bogus is because there’s no official Clerk’s stamp on the document. It’s just a piece of paper with scribbles on it, never officially filed with the Court.

The source - YC News - is a fringe MSM at best. How did they get this document? o_O

I don't think anyone here is taking it verbatim. But it is interesting to discuss, if true.

Who and what is the source of this document?
I'm not sure what we can say since it comes from Twitter, but I can tell that he appears to be a local affiliate of ABC news.

NY post is running the story but it’s from radar

I’m not sure about it, it’s saying the judge granted him the 5000 to hire a PI

yet, there is also news that even though he or his family can supposedly pay for his attorneys retainers, he needs state assistance for the private investigator. bs if you ask me. and he's getting it!

Maybe it’s best to first find out if it can be discussed?
