Hey!

I threw my postcard away as political junk mail. Not surprised that many sent them in before the midterms, several of our elections were close and campaigns were really looking for leverage. But the midterms are over, why do people still have those cards laying around and why are they sending them in now? I don’t understand politics...

Did not realize these post cards were "political" stuff.... Thanks for that info!

Oh I’m sure the trial will bring the whole case back to the spotlight. The reason we’ve been talking about it at work is because I want to be there and I’m asking around about how to do that. Any advice any of you can give me would be appreciated, I hope I can be your news feed from inside that courtroom.

When I lived in Auburn, Calif. back in 2005 I went to Mario Garcia's murder trial. He killed Christie Wilson. Of course, I reported back to here! :D That was before all this tweeting & stuff.
I took a note pad & lots of pens (you never know "when" they will stop working!). And took notes to report back to here. I did not have a cell phone. Just got one a year ago! Yes, I'm old...

You must also report on the people there! The jurors actions, but not too descriptive of them. Just whatever is going on around you too on breaks & such. Are you going to be posting directly to WS? or thru tweet? or ??
Just want to make sure I don't miss your posts! :)

I'm uploading the "Standing Decorum" rules that were imposed on the Chris Watts case by Colorado Judge for your reference-- or just so you know what to research in Iowa. With all electronics banned in Colo courtroom, I was literally going to be limited to a pen and notebook, and later transcribe and upload here outside the courthouse. Lucky for us there was no trial. Thanks so much for considering doing this @SharonNeedles.

Sharon. Thanks. You have gone far and above with videos and every bit of time you’ve given. I hope court tv is on the air by that time. In fact you may contact them and see if you could be their local flavor and commenter. They would be fortunate to have you.

Snip

Attorneys for both sides were expected to huddle with the judge in what was described as a Trial Management Hearing.

However, last week, Judge Joel Yates determined that discovery in the case was proceeding and there was no reason to hold a hearing.

Either party can request one in the future.

The next scheduled court date is a April 4, 2019, pre-trial conference, followed by a trial in mid-April.
Thanks for this update, relieved to hear this, and hope it will be a straightforward process to get CR to trial in a little over 3 months.
Thinking of Mollie’s loved ones, hoping the holidays will be healing as they gather together and celebrate her life.

That would be great!!! Any Trial I attended I checked with the Court site to see list of prohibited items. Anything discussed at Trial when Jurors are not present cannot be discussed until Trial is over. That's about all I can think of right now.

Mollie Tibbetts persons of interest: Documents show who they were, and why four were cleared
Before investigators arrested a farmhand in the death of Iowa runner Mollie Tibbetts, they scrutinized a neighbor seen washing his car hours after she vanished, an acquaintance who erased his cellphone data, a Nebraska man who ditched his vehicle nearby and a farmer with a history of stalking women.

Thoughts and prayers for the Tibbetts family and all of Mollie's friends and loved ones during the holidays. I'm sure they are missing her shining light terribly. Justice is coming...…..

Wow, does anyone else think this is huge??? We talked, debated, questioned, pondered, screamed, laughed and cried over the pings and fitbit data.

Definitely interesting that they were able to determine her running pace was too fast. But the document seemed to be missing a bunch of pages that talked about the Fitbit? Did I miss something? We definitely debated the phone and Fitbit ad nauseum!

No I don't think you missed any, it looks like it was just a snap shot of an overall 29 page document. Only a glimpse into the digital footprint but the fact that they were potentially able to narrow the timeline down to 8:20 moving faster than a runners pace and briefly mentioned heartrate in relationship to the Fitbit just seems like affirmation it has helped tie things together using these items. To me it feels like Mollie speaking to us from beyond.

ETA: As a runner myself, this especially hits home for me as I wear my Fitbit also.

I searched earlier hoping to find the rest of the document to no avail. It’s a bit frustrating to see now what LE knew and when they knew it, we spent so much time chasing down possibilities that could have been ruled out pretty quickly.

Personally as a local to the area it scares me that LE wouldn’t come right out and say there’s a potential danger to the community. Just from that snip of info I can see that there surely should have been cause for concern.

The responsibility of LE is to maintain a safe community, why I think it’s very rare for them to declare there’s an unidentified danger. Would the town have had heightened police presence after Mollie’s disappearance because if so, from LE’s point of view that mitigates the danger of an attack on another innocent victim. As well such an announcement can result in additional needless deaths, if a member of the public has cause to panic and wrongfully shoot somebody who they perceive represents the danger.

I think sometimes LE is stuck between a rock and a hard place. But by keeping investigative details confidential they reduce the likelihood the perp will flee. Because I wonder, had LE had announced some of what they knew as opposed to appearing as if the investigation was getting nowhere, would’ve Rivera stuck around?

I get what you’re saying, but they very clearly stated no increased danger to the community early on. Meanwhile my 11 year old daughter continued to ride her bike all over town and camp out in a tent in my backyard. Our normal precautions and an increased LE presence (if there was one, I sure didn’t see an increase in town) may well have negated some of the risk, but knowing what we all know now there’s no way I would have let my kids out of my sight.

I can see both sides to whether or not LE should or should not have shared more details with the public, they had this information before Aug 1st. It would be interesting to see the bulk of the document that was filed, but can totally understand why they asked for it to be sealed. I think it may very well have kept CR in the area.

It was also interesting that LE had looked at four other men in their investigation. After we are privy to the information, we realize there is so much more going on behind the scenes. It seems like they knew or had a hunch of the "how and when" but not the "who" until that surveillance video came in. Thank goodness for the person(s) that brought it forward.

I agree SharonNeedles. IMO LE needs to give the Public full disclosure.

Thinking of Mollie and all the others gone too soon. My heart goes out to all who will be missing a loved one at their table this Holiday Season.
