Wonder if this is the group home? Orchard Place Residential Treatment Center | Des Moines 925 SW Porter Avenue • Des Moines, IA • 50315

How is he allowed to just walk away without supervision, apparently repeatedly?

Such a cute smile; hoping he's ok.

"Orchard Place's residential treatment program is a highly-respected, intensive psychiatric residential treatment center. Children in the residential program come to Orchard Place from every county in Iowa and have typically had a number of psychiatric hospitalizations and other treatment experiences. They are in need of intensive mental health services, close medical monitoring, and a highly-structured and safe setting."

Map of area. Thick stand of trees to the NE from the group home.

He was wearing sandals? 38 degrees out there tonight :(

So they have doors where kids can come and go at will? He has done this before, so why not fix it, so the boy/any other patient can't get out.
It sounds like a last resort kind of place. Where parents turn to after trying other places/treatments.
Stay safe Parker!

Thanks, CV.

I'm trying very hard not to associate Parker's situation with Serenity's.

Different kids, different everything, I'm sure, but for the circumstance of them both walking away from group homes that are supposed to keep them safe.

Holding on to hope here.

Yes, I thought of Serenity. Something has to change at these centers. They are to keep all children safe.
