I felt the same way on the Conner and Brinley Snyder's case but the responsible was eventually arrested.

Proof beyond reasonable doubt truly is a burden. May the detectives investigating find evidence they need to prove whomever they already know killed Xavior is guilty, asap.

This one is interviews with his grandmother and the Montezuma mayor. His grandmother says that DCI has shared some information with her and other members of his family, but until something breaks, she can't share it publicly.

This one from CBS, is mainly about how there have been no changes in Iowa Amber Alert requirements since Xavior's death, and apparently won't be. They did ask the DCI Assistant Director for comments about the investigation, but they weren't given any new information. From the article:

One year later, there are still many questions needing answers about the death of ten-year-old Xavior Harrelson from Montezuma, Iowa.

Iowa DCI Assistant Director Mitch Mortvedt wasn't willing to give up new details on the case even after all these months later.

He said the investigation is still ongoing and cannot comment on possible suspects or details about the cause of death.

Mortvedt said agents are still working round the clock on this case a year later but they need the person who knows what happened to come forward.

"Somebody or somebodies, plural, is out there and has information. sometimes we come across people that think the info they have is so insignificant or just a small detail but that might just be the exact information law enforcement needs," Mortvedt said.

Allegedly, the last three persons to see Xavior the night before he disappeared were SH (his mom), JL (mom's former boyfriend), and SP (JL's then-girlfriend and close friend of mom).

The following morning, May 27, SH claimed she heard Xavior leave their Spruce Village Mobile Home in Montezuma (bells on the door) but did not see him because she was in the bathroom.

On May 27, 2021, SR reported Xavior missing to authorities. She'd been contacted by SH to inquire if SP or her son had seen or heard from Xavior and to also try and locate JL and SP and tell them about Xavior missing, on behalf of SH. (SH alleged her vehicle was not working and she'd not been able to reach her friends by phone).

SR left a note on the door of JL and SP's shared trailer (the note about Xavior missing was still on the door when SR later took authorities to this location).

JL and SP had left town but were located by authorities on May 29, 2021, in Marengo, IA. JL was placed under arrest on an outstanding Poweshiek county warrant for an unrelated matter (violation of supervised release) and taken to Iowa county jail. When interviewed by DCI, SP told the agent there was a sawed-off shotgun inside her car, and her vehicle was seized, towed to Poweshiek County Sheriff's office, and placed in a sallyport overnight.

JL was transported to Poweshiek County Jail on May 30. After LE finished the inventory of SP's seized vehicle (confirming a Stevens Model 95 12 gauge modified gun located in the vehicle), DCI traveled to Poweshiek county jail to interview JL. JL admitted to possessing the shotgun located in the vehicle he traveled in with SP. JL was charged with a federal firearms violation for possessing the illegal shotgun, and sentenced on February 18, 2022, to 37 months in prison. JL has been in custody and/or incarcerated since May 29, 2021, and will remain so for several more years.

IMO, the answers to whatever happened to Xavior remain with SH and SP.

We don't know if any other evidence (related to Xavior's case) was found in SP's vehicle when seized by authorities and towed to Poweshiek county. We don't know if the vehicle was ever released back to SP.

We do know that last October, a federal search warrant (firearms) was served at a New Sharon house connected to SP-- where local authorities stood by in case anything related to Xavior's investigation was uncovered. The warrant remains sealed.

By the end of May, SH relocated to Des Moines-- as planned before Xavior disappeared.

And very much to the surprise of SR, SP was nowhere to be seen at the benefit concert for Xavior.

Out of sight, out of mind? I don't think so!

Thanks for posting this story @Unalienable Rights. I didn't remember that there was concern about cold weather overnight when Xavior disappeared.

“They night that I found out, we had a council meeting that night and I saw a lot of action outside through the windows because everyone was going to the fire station. … After the meeting was over, I went over and they said they were looking for a little boy that had gone missing. They were scanning the neighborhoods and knocking on doors and that kind of thing,” Mayor Bolen said.

“A pretty large group of people showed up to go help and it was extremely, very cold that night. It was unusually cold. So, that was one of the big concerns, that it was so cold out and no one could find him. They were concerned about him being outside overnight.”

This was not an accident and Xavior did not place himself in the soybean field -- hidden from view. I'm afraid this is one of those cases where we have to remember that the prosecutor only gets one bite at the apple. I don't doubt there is evidence -- just not sufficient evidence -- YET. MOO

I can’t believe it has been a year since Xavior went missing! Please may there be justice and may those that harmed this beautiful child be held accountable! I, like many others, tried to spread his info, his image, his essence to the world so that if he could be brought home safely that we could help in that endeavor! While we were not able to bring him home safely, I do believe that justice can be served and that whomever harmed this sweet child will be held accountable! if you know something, please say something! Xavior, there are so many who love you, miss you and want you to know that you are missed and you will not be forgotten!
