It seems we are allowed to discuss this here...can someone explain how the tapatalk forum writings were confirmed to be BK?

This item is interesting:

  • "Provide to the defendant all documents pertaining to the existence and substance of any payments, promises of leniency, preferential treatment or other inducements or threats made to prospective witnesses."
Very interesting!

Does he actually think someone else was there that ratted him out? Or, is this just all part of his elaborate ruse?

I wonder what the issue of a "co-defendant" is all about, but defense attorney has requested discovery related to this.

Also, she has requested discovery for results of any drug testing, inducements or threats to potential witnesses, and information on any lineup that was used to identify a suspect, including photo spreads, etc. and the identity of any witness who participated in this.

Some of this we expected.

This makes me strongly curious as why WHY he thinks there's a co-defendant when there has been no public mention of one by LE...
I wonder if it is to demonstrate that LE dialed in on only him. No line-up which might have misidentified BK, no other phone surveillance followed up on, etc.

Does anyone have a link to the 18 discovery requests?

Moving on from BK's Tinder date and the receptionist at his doctor's office, we now have an interview with his 6th grade crush. Photo included! /s

FBI agents have interviewed Bryan Kohberger's middle school crush in hopes of piecing together the psyche of the man they believe is responsible for the gruesome murders of four Idaho college students.

Kim Kenely, 27, contacted the bureau shortly after learning her former classmate had been arrested for allegedly knifing four housemates to death at a university just 15 minutes from where he was studying in November.

The two were sixth-grade students at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, when Kohberger, 28, developed a crush and began romantically pursuing the girl who would go on to be a high school cheerleader.

'She told the FBI whatever she could tell them,' Kenely's mother Sandra confirmed to DailyMail.com on Wednesday.

'It was so long ago. I couldn't imagine what she had to tell the FBI. I guess it was for the character purpose.'

  • One said: 'The girls he's accused of killing were ... much like the ones that made fun of him throughout his childhood'

Pictures are fascinating. That young woman looked a lot like Kaylee 10 years ago or so.

It's so strange to me to hear parents say that kids are just mean and can't be prevented from taunting or taught to handle things politely. That was not the rubric in my own neighborhood, growing up. Nor was it how my children were raised (one is not much older than Bryan).

There were mean girls at my high school, for sure. But there were also a lot of cool kids who were cheerleaders and pompon girls and in student government, all of them sweet and nice. We were taught to say "no" to a boy politely, and at a dance, I was taught to say "yes" to any boy who asked unless and until I was "going steady" which I wasn't allowed to do until I was 16 (in theory, ha).

My daughters were really proficient at fending off unwanted boys without being mean (and still are).

"Steve and Kristi Goncalves told Dateline NBC in a recent interview that the new details that seemed to paint a clearer picture of their daughter's final moments, gave them hope that through the struggle, she played some hand in solving her own murder by snatching the all-important sheath from her assailant."

COWABUNGA. "Explanation" for BCK's DNA on Knife Sheath??? SODDI.

My post somehow inserted into post by @kittythehare, so pls open.

Try this.
I'm him.
'I saw that sheath or one very similar at a market , in the past, I even considered purchasing it, I actually even put it on my belt, using the button.
I decided against it though.
And that was about a year ago'
(for good measure)
===================================
@kittythehare So a year ago at a store, BCK fondled & caressed knife sheaths & left DNA on the one, did not buy it, and later sheath happened to be found at quadruple stabbing murder scene.
Yep, if BCK takes the stand, def could run that up the reasonable doubt flagpole, but let's take this to the next step, where prosecutor cross examines BCK.
If BCK says his shopping excursion was a year ago (or say, X months before murders, to adjust for lapse of time to trial),
where was the store?
--- If in Moscow, Idaho or Pullman. Wash area? Wasn't he still in PA? If he actually traveled to the area for a visit months before his semester began,
there should be some digital evd re his travel. If there is, then maybe there's (a hint of) reasonable doubt???
--- If in PA. area, then a knife sheath that BCK lovingly pawed in PA. store made its way to the quadruple stabbing murder scene.
How? After BCK handled it, some rando bought sheath in PA store, later went to Moscow area, and murdered the four students.
COWABUNGA. What are the chances? That rando is the SODDI.
Sorry, the SomeOtherDudeDidIt tactic does not raise reasonable doubt or any doubt at all imo jmo moo.

Moral of the story: Before trying to float a lame idea like this, def should think very carefully about TIME & SPACE re BCK, Knife, Store Location, & Murder Location. Sometimes it's hard to create doubt, even more difficult to reasonable doubt.

@kittythehare , if I'm not mistaken, I think that was your point in ^ post.

All imo jmo moo icbw.

Boilerplate, I’d guess?

And/or related to a discussion we had this morning about how LE is suggesting that it’s not going to go after minor offenses—like underage drinking, marijuana use, etc. (Purely theoretical, of course!) But that could be described as a promise of leniency?

MOO

I think those requests are all just standard at this juncture. There won't be much or (maybe) anything in some of those categories.

IME. So, IMO as a forensic anthropologist who has followed a lot of trials in various states.

Edited to add a "maybe" and clarify my source (my own experience and reading lots of cases).

@Montecore1 Hmm... Honestly, I'm not sure if he said that or not. There is alot of video from early on that I haven't seen. I remember that the Coroner said many things, including that the victims were all attacked in their sleep, that were later walked back by others or found to be incorrect as facts came out. I believe it's been generally accepted/determined that the police played a little liar's poker during the investigation phase to keep the exact status of their investigation quiet. After the arrest through the gag order, Chief Fry seemed pretty firm and clear when he said he was convinced BK was the only attacker. Maybe he seemed just as firm and clear earlier, I don't know, so YMMV :)

@SRWCF said:
Can an attorney please help answer why the word "co-defendant" is being used in the 1/10/23 Request for Discovery? It says "a" co-defendant and not "the" co-defendant. Is that standard language in case someone else ends up getting arrested? Idaho Judicial Cases of Interest

Well THAT'S certainly interesting!

I guess because the apartment and computer searches evidence is still sealed?
