Not bruises though.

The NY Post thinks so:

Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger appears in court with cuts and bruises on face, neck

ETA: MSN says:

"But according to The Daily Beast, the local sheriff in Moscow has clarified what happened to his face. It wasn't anything sinister — it was just a bad shave.

"Latah County Sheriff Richie Skiles confirmed the botched shave in a text message to The Daily Beast on Thursday shortly after the alleged killer exited court, where a judge determined his preliminary hearing won’t be held until June 26," reported Josh Fiallo. "Skiles would not say what type of razor Kohberger has access to in jail or whether the 28-year-old is on suicide watch.""

I don't understand why the shaving is such a topic. Am I missing something?

I think him having a female lawyer at all is weird and icky. IMO. Just gives me the <modsnip> for lack of a better term

BBM I don't see him doing that, his whole thing is being cooool calm collected.
I agree re the shaving. To me, they are obviously just nics from a recent shave. There's just been a lot of discussion about it for some reason (in answer to your question). IMO

He obviously was dry shaving. They must not give him shaving lotion. I did that to one of my legs and it had scratches like that all over it. But I haven't figured out the bruises yet. Did he try to suffocate himself by grabbing his windpipe or to cut off the blood supply in his neck?
Razor burn.

So are they claiming he has "two gashes" near his chin or that he was "covered" in facial cuts?

I don't understand the significance. Are they trying to imply the defendant is getting unfair treatment in jail?

Agree. In the nicest jail I visited, there was no privacy whatsoever in the shower room (it was in the dining room; the men shaved and bathed with a half wall in front of them and the shower heads were probably 10 feet from the first of several concrete tables where inmates dine).

They were on CCTV from every angle while in the open area and on CCTV in their cells, with specially trained personnel (often non-uniformed people) watching them, with a uniformed guard assigned to the overall supervision of each pod (that person also had access to the CCTV footage).

Urgh see this gives me nightmares - imagine being strip searched and then having to shave your bits and pits in front of everyone. The thought of it makes every orifice of mine seal shut! This is why I’d never go to prison, I’m too private :D

The reason it has been a topic is because he came into court with scratches on his face and bruises on his neck. It looked like he had been in a fight. So, that has caused a great deal of speculation online.
I understand, but given it is confirmed to be from shaving, I wonder why people keep discussing it - do they disbelieve LE on this matter?

If there is a bruise on BK's neck, I believe LE should explain it. Or maybe it isn't a contradiction for a razor to be so sharp it easily cuts the skin but also dull enough to cause razor burn. BK is a high profile inmate, and it doesn't seem outlandish for people to notice cuts, bruises and such when he showed up in court. (No matter what jail he's in.) Just my opinion.

Well, the NY Post article just presents as the opinion of the writer/editor of that article. That is my opinion and how I interpret the article. I also feel it is quite sensational, querying and suggesting he has met with some kind of violence all without any supporting evidence. In MOO the writer likes or has been directed to stir the pot. I don't see any evidence to back up their view. The Daily Beast quotes from an official source, explores the material and provides a reasonable and understandble explanation. IMO.

Jumping off this post, she describes herself as a forensic psychologist and these are the courses she teaches at DeSales
University

Forensic Psychology
Psychological Sleuthing
Dangerous Minds
The Psychology of Fear
Psychological Logic
Behavioral Criminology
Introduction to Profiling
Forensic Science in the Courtroom
Survey of Forensic Science

the online MA seems to ' consist of six core classes: advanced criminology, research methods, ethics, justice systems and processes, statistics and data analysis, and a project seminar.'

I don't have any details on the De Sales course he took 2018-2020 ( Assuming that was CJ too)

<modsnip: personalizing/offering diagnosis> I think BK began to see others, maybe more so women, or his parents, or peers, or siblings as objects, and certainly in many ways himself above them.
The paradox is that he seemed to struggle with self esteem issues. So his ability to harm others he perceived to be ’better’ than himself- made him ’better’ ??
Maybe attempting to rationally think through a motive is not possible.

What is ironic, is how anger toward him for these murders could allow me to justify him no longer being human- but instead a monster. In a sense I’ve done the same to him. Is that ok? No, to me it is troubling

This last paragraph should be taken to heart by every one of us. Demonizing BK, calling him stupid, hoping his shaving scars are the result of him being brutalized in prison, etc brings us down to his level (if he, in fact, did this). We should all hold ourselves to something better than that, IMO.

No, that is just razor burn, IMO. Done it to myself shaving a hundred times.

You definitely don’t need to be pregnant, TTC or have something wrong to be seeing an OB-GYN. It is customary to visit one yearly, regardless.
You can have your OBGYN as your primary Dr.

Why does DM have to supply address/telephone number etc - can't all liasons be through legal channels and not directly between DM and BK's representatives. Is this actually a mandate that she has to follow??? It seems really a unsafe proceedure involving witnesses etc. MOO
I’m not seeing a source and am guessing this is a misunderstanding of facts.
These witnesses have the utmost protection and have for two months, there will be armed men in street clothes where they are.
So now you are thinking they will publish their location and that of their family to the public?
Not so, give the system a bit of credit
