Knife is obviously much more silent, debatably more effective, possibly more personably satisfying for him, less easily traceable, cheaper—what else?
More ''intimate." I think intimacy with other humans was something he desired but did not/could not have. And that the lack of it fed into his motivation to kill.

Even the "child bearing hips" is in my view possibly a reference to The Office episode to see if she watched that very popular show. I have seen lots of people mimic Dwight Shruit making that statement.
I thought about that too. My daughter and I sometimes quote lines from The Office to each other when it fits the situation, like our little inside joke.

The murderer(s) knew the students well enough to know there was not a gun threat? Or the murderer(s) could have also had a gun? JMO

Why wasn't the murderer(s) worried that two, four, or six people might be up or wake up and attack, call 911, or run out screaming? JMO
That’s a great point that maybe BK did carry a gun on him - good theory.
I have also wondered several times about the seeming lack of screaming, especially since two of the rooms had 2 people in them and in 1 room at least one person was likely awake (Xana/door dash situation)

Does anyone else think that BK is right where he wants to be and may plead guilty? He will keep what he knows to himself. Complete control. He thinks he committed the perfect crime. Or he is ready to test that theory in court. He has admired prior SK and now sees himself as one. He is around other criminals. He is no longer alone. He's one of the guys!

It could be small shaving nicks which developed infection due to unsanitary conditions there-no clean towel, indequate soap for handwashing, etc. His lady lawyer will probably give him some nice quality disposable razors.
While, true, "It's jail, not Yale," as they say, and depending on the venue, it's rarely unsanitary; I doubt the 'lady lawyer' will be the razor provider -- contraband, don't you know. Jail will supply to hardship cases or prisoner can order from approved commissary.

  • One said: 'The girls he's accused of killing were ... much like the ones that made fun of him throughout his childhood'
So... they were female?

Not being trying to be cute here, that just seems like pablum to me.

I think that if someone were to scrutinize each and every thing we have said in our lives, someone would certainly be able to take something we said, possibly out of context and find a way to make it seem insensitive or foolish so I'm not really that hung up on one comment made at one point in his life.
Yes, and this is what is currently ocurring with the media's interpretation and presentation all these anecdotal scraps IMO, not to mention any $ that might be changing hands. Speculation only.

Agree. But the vast majority of people who’ve said insensitive comments haven’t gone on to butcher 4 people. Thus the scrutiny of BK’s past interactions.

Can someone please direct me to what y'all are discussing? I am lost. Went back pages and still didn't see whatever spot it is you guys are talking about. Thanks in advance

EDIT: Oh, are you guys talking of the old news that the blood was dripping down the house? If so, the coroner confirmed long ago that it was blood.
Is there a link for the coroner confirming that was blood?

If he is struggling with suicidal thoughts or trying to hurt himself, the staff where he is being held will know how to deal with it, and I think it will come out if so. As someone just posted he may be wearing a "stun belt" that allows the guards/LE to zap him if he gets physical (with himself or someone else). Could be real (his distress at being captive for what's looking like at least 6 months until trial) and it could be fake (him trying to elicit sympathy and/or insinuate or make accusations about being mishandled/brutality to add to the sh*&#show). JMOO
I hope you're right. Anything seems possible, given that Jeffrey Epstein managed to off himself in a federal jail after having already attempted suicide once.

i repectfully disagree. an adult male saying this to a potential partner is not okay.
a chauvinist making a comment about a women's birthing potential and body mimicking a chauvinist making a comment about a women's birthing potential and body is still offensive.

behavior as a 12 year old and as an adult male are two (hopefully) very different things.

Yeah, his lawyer may want to bring clean razors. Check out some historical trivia about one Idaho jail and razors (NOT Latah jail, but interesting anyhow):

I think it largely depends on delivery and circumstances of those statements. "You look really pretty today." isn't creepy at all. "You're so pretty." or "You're beautiful." out of the blue might take me aback, depending on how and why it was said.

Being said to me multiple times by the same person, if we weren't friends or dating? Definitely creepy.

Now think of someone who is normally very quiet, standing inside your personal bubble, telling you that. That's creepy. No context. Just blurting it out. That's hella creepy.

You are correct about context and circumstances but I don't really trust the media to relay those comments within context or without an agenda and those sharing with the media seem to share with a publication that is happy to pay them without any research.

I think he will end up pleading guilty, though I don't believe "he thinks he committed the perfect crime." I think he will plead guilty because he'll come to realize - after seeing all the evidence - that he's likely to be convicted and face the death penalty. He'll also realize that the evidence and testimony is likely to be extremely embarrassing to himself personally, and I think that's something he couldn't stand. So, he'll plead guilty to avoid the death penalty and spare himself major personal embarrassment, knowing that he can spend the rest of his life in prison reading and writing about criminology, giving out interviews to journalists of his choosing, etc.

How do you feel he managed to hold them at gunpoint and stab them?

Reasonable minds can disagree! Please re read my post as I think you have misinterpreted what I wrote. If the person inquiring names the patient, then the medical office is not releasing PHI. Usually the office has a policy in place not to release that information. It's not always black and white because there are exceptions. Additionally, a doctor's office must be a covered entity or else they are not bound by HIPAA. MOO.
Signed, someone who works with HIPAA issues all day every day 5 days a week.
We will definitely have to agree to disagree on this one.

Are the answers to the requested discovery items normally available in a public document prior to the preliminary hearing? And if so, in this case, would that be part of the gag order?

Not sure how one can assume he scouted and planned, knew the layout of the house and where his intended victims were sleeping - but didn't know that Ethan sleeping over was a regular thing? At the very least he should know that the red Jeep parked right by the front door doesn't belong to the girls.
We don't know that he had any idea who Ethan was, or would have any expectation he would be there. If he did and was using a knife he could assume he could kill Ethan without even being injured (and he did)

here is the house he picked:
All residents petite females
Young women cohort lowest demographic in firearms ownership
Most likely time that resident were asleep
Observable security issues (sliding doors)

Weapon he picked:
In ambush most silent weapon possible
Most accessible of weapons that are unlikely to leave forensics

IMO, of what we can observe now, BK is a pretty regular guy. He was a PhD student, TA, well groomed, evidently raised no suspicions among colleagues, students, neighbors, receptionists, medical providers, even his father in the days after a horrible crime. He is reportedly a cooperative prisoner. I think there is a tendency to dig for some reason why this seemingly normal person who committed an awful crime is not normal so we can spot the next criminal, but I don't know if we really can. The last case I followed closely was Mollie Tibbetts, and her killer was also evidently a normal guy - hard worker, decent father, etc. Nobody suspected anything. IMO, this is what is scariest.

Other than pulling your face off, I doubt that a dull plastic disposable razor can do much harm to anyone, and especially with someone monitoring basically your every move. JMO
yes I agree. Doesnt even need to be dull if he is monitored. I am no exert but just googling it seems like plenty of jails and prisons give out single edge disposables to prisoners under varying amounts of monitoring.
