I suppose it depends on why proper supervision was not given. If a parent (any parent, not specifically these) is unable to properly supervise their child because they are drunk, high or otherwise indisposed, they might very well face charges. If the lack of supervision is due to an oversight, mistake, etc., there seems to be far more leeway in pressing charges (judging by cases where children are left in hot cars, drowned in unattended pools, etc.). After all, losing your child is a pretty horrible punishment on its own.

Humm. Do you think drug tests were done on those four POI's? Just thought of that.

Well, head on over to the Missing forum, folks. You'll find there are thousands of innocent, suffering parents with lost children.

Why did you make this post?

I interpreted it to mean that there were thousands (or more) parents who did "all the right things" and are still suffering the loss of a child. .

I think babies should be micro-chipped at birth.

Microchips only have identification information that is scanned after the animal is found. It does not have a GPS to help find an animal. A GPS would take a battery to work. You couldn't have a battery that large implanted.

I still think alexwood is right. If a body is found (baby, child or adult) there would be less unidentified bodies!!!! No more Jane Does' and John Does' unless of course the microchip couldn't be found. Not sure punctuation is correct on the "Doe" name. Doesn't look right.

After I posted the comment: "I think all babies should be micro-chipped at birth," I googled it. There were studies done on laboratory rats that indicated microchipping could cause cancer tumors at the site of the incision. Then, a rebuttal study, that it would not. Then a discussion about your point of the GPS -- which is the technology that would be necessary to locate missing persons -- as you pointed out. (Duh! :banghead::banghead:)

But even if that could be done, let's face it with a lot of parents now not wanting to vaccinate their babies, how would they agree to anything like this anyway? In today's world, I guess there's no substitute for watching them like a hawk.

Just grasping at straws in frustration. [Sorry for the OT!]

You don't need an apostrophe for a plural -- just for possessive. :)

(I'm not intending to grammar police -- just answering the implied question.)

There are also serious privacy issues at stake. Does anyone really have the right to know where you are at all times? Even if you're not hiding anything or doing anything inappropriate, you might still want your privacy (I know I do), and tracking devices implanted into the body would rob you of that choice.

Let ME be the grammar police ... you can be the grammar sheriff:slap:
Plural possessive: John Does' toe tags
Singular possessive: John Doe's toe tag

That's what I took from the post as well. And I totallyunderstand. Parenting is far from easy. No matter how hard you try to be perfect, things can happen. Even when a parent makes a mistake (I have made a million, I'm sure) it is almost always completely innocent.

BTW, I was out on a boat with kids last night. We got on the dock and one little girl ran ahead. It was the grandma who first jumped into action and chased after her.

I have a TON of catching up to do here. So glad my fellow sleuthers have stayed on top of this case... I can not believe still not a trace of lil DeOrr has been found. This is terrible!

and a special note, Bessie thank you for being so diligent in ALL the threads, keeping everyone in line. These cases are not easy, emotions run high, people argue and get snarky but you are the rhyme and reason that keeps everyone with their ducks in a row. Thanks for all you do!

I would call origin and background quite a familiar relationship.

Consider the Kunz family. When the two patriarchal ancestors (John Kunz II and III) arrived in the SL valley, and ultimately the Bear Lake, ID area, they both already had or soon had multiple wives. John Kunz II had at least eleven children. Just one of his sons, John Kunz III, alone fathered 25 children! Then those children, most if not all of whom only had one wife, each had lots of kids, who had lots of kids, who had lots of kids. So you're looking at a HUGE family. Consider that those families married other large LDS families in the area, and you'll see you can't swing a cat in Utah without hitting someone related to a Kunz somehow.

Now consider there's a lot of families with similar histories in that area. Again, you'd be hard pressed to find a local family with zero LDS connection.

LDS and FLDS aren't the same, so I don't see how that is a connection.

In any case, welcome to our new members!

This case has gone completely cold in the strangest media black-out I have ever seen. I fear that whoever is responsible (if there is someone) has gotten completely away with it. We all know it happens....Caylee, Hailey, Korman, unfortunately the list goes on and on.
