At some point the parents have to get back to their jobs and get on with life.

I am not sure why they are even pushing the abduction theory. Your child went missing during a camping trip. Why not just say that Deorr got lost and you hope to find him one day so you can put him to rest? When you keep saying your child was abducted, people are going to criticize you for not doing anything to find him or publicize the case. If they want people off their backs, they need to start saying Deorr got lost.

I think a lot of parents would have an exceptionally hard time doing that, since it would be acknowledging he is likely dead and that (stating this carefully ) there was insufficient supervision.

An abduction gives them hope that he may be alive as well as someone outside the family to blame.

Kunz said since his son disappeared, their family has spent thousands of hours in Lemhi County searching for any clue that could lead to the young boy.

“It was the last place we saw that baby so how can you not continue to go up there weekend after weekend?” asked Trina Clegg, DeOrr’s grandmother. “Our entire family has been up there doing everything we can.”

The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office also continues search efforts.

Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said his chief deputy and several k9’s were in the area Thursday....

DeOrr’s family said the past eight weeks have been heartbreaking and they’re tried to stay out of the spotlight.

“We have become silent and we don’t want people focused on us,” said Clegg. “We want them focused on this baby.”...

If you thought someone you knew did this, would you also have a particular suspect? Their statements since the beginning have made me think they believe this wasn't a stranger abduction, but is that just because it has the potential for the best outcome, or because they think they know who did it?

I wish they could get their kid back and I wish they could get some peace.

From things they have said, I've always gotten the feeling it was someone they knew...who they think took him....Maybe holding him for some reason...Who knows?

Interesting... At the very beginning, the parents wondered who would want to hurt *us* that way (kidnapping their baby). That remark sounded personal as it (the kidnapping) was about them (the parents).

Now they've avoided the spotlight because they don't want the focus on them (it's no longer personal?), but on DeOrr instead.

I guess I'm missing something. I know people react differently, but if this happened to my child, you'd see my grieving face everywhere. If I wasn't comfortable speaking in front of cameras, I'd be standing right next to an eloquent person who acts as my spokesman. My message would be out there ad nauseum.

Not blaming the parents...just not understanding their mindset.

Weird that they did not mention anything about the PI either. Such a bizarre case. The behavioral analysts with the FBI certainly have their work cut out for them. Nothing this family does makes any sense to me.

ETA: ha ha, I posted this before I saw the above post... so the PI is still involved after all.

Wow. She looks awful, like she's just collapsing in on herself with grief. It looks like she's completely given up.

I'm afraid this is exactly what I would do.

Yeah, she's definitely collapsing.

"Vilt said it's possible DeOrr could have been abducted and sold on the underground adoption market."

I've read about this underground adoption market but it references children who are adopted from other countries. Then when the adopted child is found to have severe behavior disorders, they are pawned off to other parents. Often with dire results.

"A woman who said she is from Nebraska offered an 11-year-old boy she had adopted from Guatemala. "I am totally ashamed to say it but we do truly hate this boy!" she wrote in a July 2012 post.

Another parent advertised a child days after bringing her to America. "We adopted an 8-year-old girl from China… Unfortunately, We are now struggling having been home for 5 days." The parent asked that others share the ad "with anyone you think may be interested."

Or is Mr. Vilt saying someone at this very remote wilderness location was scouting for children to sell?
MOO that's a stretch. I guess it gives the family hope.
