It is serious. I was hit by a young driver with no insurance (and plenty of tickets) and had to have 6 surgeries because of the accident that was his fault. I now have a titanium plate with screws in my neck and arthritis in elbows and knees. Thank goodness my B/C paid for my surgeries when I signed an agreement that if I recovered the surgical expenses I would pay them. Of course I never did because he did not have insurance and no money. It cost me money, time, and a great deal of pain I will always have to deal with.

So yes, it is illegal, and it is serious!

Damn. I'm sorry this happened to you! That's terrible! I have a friend who was recently hit by someone who was also uninsured. It's a big mess.

I definitely didn't word my post well. I guess what I meant to say is that compared to what (probably) happened to Deorr, I don't think it's in the same category... Maybe I'm wrong. And to be clear, I wouldn't do this, and I certainly think it's wrong! I just feel like it's more in the category of being young and irresponsible. Not a precursor to possible murder. I wasn't trying to downplay it or say it's OK.

I also thought she was driving on a suspended license, not uninsured. I guess I don't really know how it works so I shouldn't have said anything about it. Sorry.

onebest, i completely disagree (respectfully of course)...a reporter's job IS to lead the conversation. and i truly believe his answers, and silence as you suggested, will be the key to this case.

Perhaps the EMT bag had medical supplies in it that would be useful to a person or persons who sustained injuries while killing a child who fought back...or sustained injuries while hiding the body of a child.

Or maybe it was brought and left in plain sight on purpose. Did we ever find out from whom it was stolen and how the "thief" managed to get it away/out of the area without being seen?

I would think that the FBI do have specialist interviewers, white rabbit? I know Scotland Yard here in the UK do. I would guess that Special Agent Seeley Booth interviewing suspects isn't the reality? It would be rare that a Scotland Yard DCI would ever have direct contact with a witness or suspect. I would think Lemhi County brought in the FBI when it became clear to them this case was bigger and more challenging than thought? I think it would be completely impractical to have specialist interviewers in all LE, especially somewhere like Lemhi County.

Me too, I bet there were some angry words exchanged afterwards. I get the impression she has quite a temper. And I get the impression that she clashed badly with Vilt, too! Jmo.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall after that interview! Although I will admit the VDK did appear to show some honest emotions. Were they real? JM however, nada, zip. She barely raised her head. If only she had been asked, "is there anything you'd like to say Jessica?" She just wanted out of there. IMO

What (at this point in time) could be some examples of evidence collected that tell LE they are CERTAIN the parents are lying (other than the polygraphs) and they are CERTAIN the parents know where DeOrr is?

That's a really good question. I'd guess the lack of any evidence that Deorr was ever at the campground. Cell phone pings and history, receipts, conflicting written statements, eyewitness accounts, no fingerprints on fishing poles, something with the 911 calls, ...

Absolutely. I believe IR is easily manipulated. He thinks little Deorr was there because the parents said so. Even though IR said he saw him, I have my doubts.
The more I watch the videos, the more I think VK is covering for JM. He seems to show genuine emotion which I take to be from guilt. The quiver in his voice and the teary eyes almost make me believe he has genuine remorse. JM, as I said earlier, nada, zip.

Ahhh, got it! I drive with insurance and my license, so I don't know exactly how it works when you don't. I definitely should have kept my mouth shut on this issue!

Just spotted this great article from this week that Claire just posted on the media thread. This quote stood out - Sheriff Bowerman seems totally and utterly sure the parents know more than they're saying:

“We know that the parents aren’t telling the truth, and they know that we know that they’re lying,” Bowerman said. “I know that they know where the little boy is and what happened to him.”

It's so unsettling to read Bowerman's quote knowing the parents are out and about in society getting on with their lives. The wheels of justice grind slow.

They are not getting on with their lifes. Sure they might not be behind bars but I can bet nobody is letting them move on.

It's interesting that IR said "people can change in the blink of an eye and you don't even realize it until it's too late." I can't help but feel like he is saying someone changed, acted in a way that he had not seen or expected in that person, then it was too late to do anything or to change the outcome. In all the talk about abuse, it almost sounds like he is "leaking" what may have happened to the baby. Just my thought when I read that.

I hope the families are closing in. Can you imagine being an aquatintance? JM or DK employer? A neighbor? I wonder what this experience has been like for the other two kids? I'm really surprised we haven't heard about some fired up mob showing up at their house to be completely frank. Obviously that would be the wrong way to approach it, but people are that angry.

They are most likely already experiencing the Four C's, or Collateral (and social) Consequences of Criminal Charges. I wonder if either one is still employed, or if they are able to live in a place of their own... or have contact with her other two children.

That is a good question, but a difficult one in light of the lack of information we have. I wonder if it the behavioral reports from the FBI? Along with the lack of evidence.
