I don't know why LE hasn't circulated posters of the possible vehicles to be on the lookout for. In addition they could be circulating posters that say if you or someone you know was in Leadore, Idaho, the Stage Stop in Leadore, or in the area of Stone Reservoir / Timber Creek campground, we want to hear from you. Heck they could even circulate pictures of DeOrr and his mom and dad asking if anyone was anywhere on the 9th or 10th of July and saw these people. Not because they are suspected of anything but because someone might remember being in the store and seeing them and they could also have information about others in the area at the same time. I'm about to make my own flyers.

What would a vehicle with this description look like?

I think wrong or right, LE believes they know what happened and don't think it was abduction. They don't seem at all interested in hunting down vehicles, stranger kidnappers, witnesses, etc. IMO it's because they think chasing down leads generated by posters is a waste of time and would not bring them any closer to finding DeOrr. Thanks rkf :) I hadn't noticed before, but I can see the driver in the black truck. In photo no. 2 it appears he's starting to get out. In no. 3, it looks to me like he's sitting there in the truck seat with the door open and his legs out. And that unknown someone is walking toward him on the road. I assume toward, because they aren't in the no. 2 photo at all.

My eyes aren't that good!

SO, to clarify, is the woman in the article who runs the Silver Dollar, the same one referred to here as an RSO?

This woman at 00:25.

ITA, but one person deciding someone else is a caretaker does not make the other person a caretaker. Both people need to know they are caretakers, at one time or another, in order for there to be miscommunication between caretakers. Otherwise, it's one person assuming their child will be supervised by someone else if necessary, even though someone else doesn't know they are supposed to babysit. If I'm at the park and I see another mom with her kids, my kid playing with hers doesn't make her my son's caretaker. We would have to have a relationship where we each knew we were my son's caretakers, perhaps at different times, in order for me to assume she is the caretaker when I am not. Thinking my child will be fine playing with the other kids for a few minutes does not establish any nearby adult as his caretaker. Miscommunication between caretakers shares the blame between two (or more) responsible adults. I don't see where ggp was ever the adult responsible for DeOrr's well-being, during the camping trip or in the past. JMO

I agree. I don't think it would be fair (or perhaps even legal) to leave a 2-year-old in ggp's care with or without him knowing.

I always worry about someone returning to the scene to dispose of the body after things have settled down. I wonder if that happens. I thought about that after the lake was searched for Lyric & Elizabeth too. Or in this case someone disposing of him in the reservoir later so that when he surfaces everyone thinks he must have been there all along and was just missed. Then it turns into just a horrible accident - he must have wandered there on his own and fell in.

I agree that it's perfectly normal. But, the coincidence of it happening in a place that remote at the exact same time as the search for a missing boy, is mind-boggling. That campsite is difficult to get to, has very light usage, and is not an overly popular place to camp (obviously they were the only ones there apparently). Stone Reservoir is tiny compared to most reservoirs around Idaho. It just can't be the absolute favorite camping/fishing spot for that many people, enough so that they'd want their ashes dumped there. The number of people who fit that category is extremely small, and for them to come at the exact same time and not notice, or even be aware of, the search for missing child - it's astronomically inconceivable. If it was a popular body of water, like Lake Cascade or Redfish Lake or Deadwood Reservoir, I wouldn't think so much of it. But, Stone Reservoir? Most people in Idaho haven't even heard of it. It's beyond strange. MOO.

ETA: I also cannot fathom that it was done to hinder the investigation. That would require so many things to happen - a supply of ashes, a person to spread them out, and some sort of pre-planning, etc. I cannot think that all that could be arranged in such a short amount of time. Nor do I think that whatever happened to Deorr was premeditated. But it has to be one of the strangest coincidences I have ever heard of!

ETA, part 2: Lynn Boweman and his wife own the mortuary in Salmon (which would serve Leadore since it's so small). Not sure that means anything, but it is kind of interesting. http://www.accessidaho.org/public/sos/corp/C145111.html
One word: Local.

I wonder if DK took off in his truck while JM called 911 from the camp ground, not only to get better phone reception, but because he suspected the child had been abducted and hoped he could catch them. I further wonder if he may suspect who took him.

Sheer speculation, no facts

Maybe, but then why wouldn't he have said that, especially as he was trying to explain why he believed his boy is not on the mountain and instead abducted? Why would he instead go into such great detail about why he made his trip in the truck (which he said was to make sure he would be in a place where he would get more bars and not risk losing his call to 911?) It seemed that he did very much care about explaining his trip in the truck, but that it didn't have to do with him suspecting his son was abducted and trying to find the abductor. (Though that would make complete sense!)

Reporter: was anybody camping round you?

DeOrr Sr: that we don't know is...I come to find, I didn't know the area, and I didn't know, I ..there, it's very open but you can't see much ...there's a road that goes up and along the top - we're camped underneath the reservoir, basically right below it, and you can go up above the reservoir, and I didn't even know the road was, did that, I didn't know the road was up there, and as I travelled up there myself, I could've found out [?] I could see everything that was going on at the campsite, but you can't see out - you can't see up, you can't see round and if anyone comes to the bottom of your camp ground you can't even see they are...

Bbm

I think he means 172b as seen in the following map (yellow x on map) and picture. I believe it is where some of the searchers parked, and is where the creek leaves the reservoir and heads toward their campsite.

If you follow the regular 172 it goes to the other campsites and the other end of the reservoir where I believe the lady was 'dumping cremains' (blue x on map).

Wasn't the campsite below the reservoir (closer to the blue X) with the water running from the reservoir toward and past the lower campground? I might be confused, but I thought they were below (South of) the reservoir.

Here's another map flipped around so that it matches the picture where the searchers are parked by the reservoir.

Blue x = cremains (?)

Green x = campsite

Yellow x = searchers parked by reservoir

Yellow dots = 172b where Dad said you can look down at the reservoir/camp

Pink = shows how close it would be for little DeOrr to walk (chasing after his parents) to get to the main road that leads to the upper campground and the other side of the reservoir.

I don't believe that the person who posted on FB (initials SP) and the person who started the money pot are the same person. The person by the initials of SP has stated several times that he is not related to the family in any way. Just to clarify, the "post of interest" that I was referring to is actually the one regarding the "mountain search" :). I am extremely curious how he would know about this "search" if indeed there is any truth to it; he might just be making it up but that would not be consistent with his posts thus far that I have seen. As it stands right now it's just rumor of course :).

There are 3 that I know of thus far:

https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/wnf9
http://www.********.com/z8az94

and this one for Harry Oakes SAR dog, though I don't believe that the family is involved with this one: http://www.********.com/37gnswz4

Nor is Harry Oakes apparently. JMO

You know, I think a lot of people may have done just that if their son went missing. After a search of the area didn't turn up anything, I think a lot of people would think that maybe someone had taken him, jumped in their car, and taken off down the road "hauling a**" to see if they could catch the kidnapper before he got away. That makes a lot of sense to me but I wouldn't see any reason not to admit to it. Unless there were rumors that he had left in the truck for nefarious purposes and he was trying to deflect that. But why make up a different reason like trying to get a better signal. Not that I'm saying he did! I see nothing nefarious in either scenario.

Suddenly I don't feel so well.......

I have no idea, but it looks strange. In the rear window, I see the image of a kid and a dog.

I'm glad you said that because when I first saw it I thought I saw little Deorr looking out the back window. Briefly freaked me out.

That's why it's a "very rare" truck.

If you keep reading, someone else claims he last saw that truck in Vegas. And the first guy, from Shreveport, LA, says he did buy it in Vegas, "sans wheels and tires."

That's too funny. I think I am going to join that forum.

It's weird, it looks like a little kid looking out the middle part of the window and to the right of him it looks like a fox, lol. Was this truck at the campground during the search? If so, who would bring a child and a dog/fox along to a search? (or am I hallucinating? :) )
