I don't think so but the balance is now zero after all the refunds, so I can't tell how close they got (last time I checked they were maybe a third of the way to the goal? but that was awhile ago).

I can't help but wonder whether any of the other donation sites have been ended. If so, that might signify a break in the case. :moo:

Apparently not. I'm mistaken. There was no article, just what the Mom said during the interview.

A lot of the news feeds were regurgitating (and editing) the interview. It may very well have been "toned down" by someone. The harshness of the remark is what first caught my attention.

Well, dirty/filthy and crying/bawling are kind of subjective. My 10-year-old son seems filthy to me right now!

The clerk who said that was trying to be accurate in her description to LE. really filthy is what was repeated by the mom as the statement of the clerk. Lots of things may be subjective but the statement/interview of clerk was being taken by LE.. and if there is ever a trial that statement will be used verbatim..jmo

Hmmm why miss an opportunity to make a few bucks? Was he scared off? Was he banned by LE? ODD! JMO

My money is on not enough money.

It's just speculation that the family may have gone into the Silver Dollar. The RSO owns the Silver Dollar and never mentioned the family eating at her establishment in her interview. The Stage Shop has a deli area and may sell fries, too.

Thanks. I think it's important to emphasize that the store clerk and the RSO are (most likely) two different women who work at two different places.

As far as the gas station sighting... there are also two. The first was at the Stage Stop in Leadore. The second was just mentioned a few days ago by the P.I. who said some woman near Caldwell (Idaho) had seen DeOrr and a man in a Buick with Oklahoma plates.

Might it have something to do with the P.I. coming on board? Or maybe since the family believes Deorr is no longer on the mountain and was abducted his SAR services would not be beneficial.

Surprisingly both stores in Leadore serve potato fries! Although the first link is from 2012

(Stage Stop)
"Arriving in Leadore, which we originally thought was pronounced Leah-dore, we drove around looking for a picnic spot with a bathroom facility (as opposed to an outhouse). The town has seen better days, but remains alive with a few, friendly souls all of whom seemed to be congregated at the store / cafe called Stage Stop. They sold gas, saddles, organic oats, jo-jos (still not sure what those are), drinks, and provided paying customers with a clean, modern bathroom."

(Silver Dollar Cafe)
This Cafe shares kitchen with a bar but the eating area is completely separate. Very neat and clean. Wildlife decor. Food is very well cooked and hamburgers and fries are very good. Very reasonable rates. On a lonely road this was a welcome stop!

Good find.

Every travel blog I read mentions how friendly the people in Leadore are.

But, do we know if the MOM repeated that statement, during her interview, verbatim? Do we have an actual account of what the woman told LE? I haven't seen it.

ya know.. who would make that up? You can choose to accept or reject anything in MSM.. but this is from the mom's mouth on the video interview. Would it be more believable if somehow the LE gave you their case file? This is the best we are going to get.. from the MOM who would probably have been better off not repeating it.. sort of a declaration against interests if you ask me.. Unflattering to say a really filthy bawling baby was in a store but not address THAT and instead worry about a black truck. JMO

Sorry to ask for one more clarification. But I have been confused about whether the gas station sighting (the first one, at the Stage Stop) is the same sighting in which the store clerk sells candy to the man with the dirty/filthy boy in the black truck. (So, from what we heard per the parents, this would have been the 6 PM sighting.) Are they one and the same or two separate sightings? Does anyone know?

I think dirty/filthy and crying/bawling may be interchangeable to some and filthy/bawling might be words more commonly used by the mom, which is all I'm saying. Actually, it would have been coming from the mother at least third hand, no? And during a time of emotional anguish I tend to doubt her ability to remember "exactly" what she was told as long as she got the general idea across. JMO

Not ever before this did I hear of a child referred to as dirty/filthy. Seems kind of obscene in talking about a little one.

I have heard dirty, messy or needs a bath but never dirty/filthy.

I wonder if that woman doesn't like children. I donno what to think about all of this anymore.

Just waiting to hear some real news of how the case is progressing. Seems I heard somewhere that results of tests usually come in at about 6 weeks. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

The mom might have repeated it because, with the timing of 6 PM, and the black truck, and filthy/dirty boy, the sighting seemed to insinuate that it was DK with his son after the time the parents reported him missing and the son had been through the forest.

And I think they were upset by that insinuation. I think that's why DK went on to say that he was at the campground by 1 PM and then with searchers until quarter to four (or quarter after, can't recall!) Which doesn't really say anything about where he was at 6 PM, but I guess he wanted to make sure people knew he wasn't off on his own unaccounted for all day?

Anyway, I think the ultimate point they were really trying to get across was that the family HAD actually been at the Stage Stop that day and so the clerk DID see them, and the black truck, just got he time wrong. (And they didn't address the state of DeOrr.)

Like someone else said, there are so many black trucks in the world and seemingly only one gas station in Leadore, I would think the parents might entertain that someone else in another black truck could have been spotted with their child. But obviously LE dismissed the whole thing as a rumor or timing mix-up since they say there is no evidence of an abduction.

There is just a general clarity problem with this whole case!!!!

I wonder what day LE interviewed this woman. Since everyone passes her store, how hard is it for her to have "learned" black truck, little blond boy, and Dad, AFTER Deorr disappeared? She probably pulled 6:00 out of her _ _ _ ! MOO

We also have to take into consideration that this is like the telephone game. Obviously this clerk didn't give this info directly to the parents. It had to pass through at least one other entity (or more!) Dirty could have been turned into "filthy" by the mom because she felt like she was being accused, so maybe she exaggerated what the clerk said out of spite. As for the 6 PM thing, who knows. I wouldn't think it's Grand Central Station at the Stage Stop. But she might have just not remembered.

OR, maybe another blond boy lives in the area and has a dad who drives a black truck and they stopped at the Stage Stop at 6 PM! Maybe she doesn't remember the Kunz family coming in earlier at all.

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading from the time little DeOrr went missing. I'm local to the area - meaning, I live in Boise (4 hours or 280 miles away from Idaho Falls which is where the parents are from). I will give a detailed post soon as to my impressions as a local. Glad to "officially" be here with an actual username and the ability to post!

Honestly, if a kid was THAT bad off, and crying, you'd think they'd call the sheriff out of concern.

OR MAYBE the clerk got it right! There was a really filthy kid and a man with a black truck in her store at 6pm! LE must have thought it important enough to tell the family about this. jmo
