Out of habit, from the beginning I've been regularly tracking media coverage, etc. on this case and feel it is my duty to take a bit of a stand as far as Nate is concerned. He's been getting a bum deal IMO and doesn't get the credit he deserves. Furthermore, I believe he is being disrespected when in fact he does seem to be the "lead" as far as Deorr is concerned. Let me go find the information I have under him to put things in perspective.

Out of curiosity, if Nate Eaton wasn’t front and center reporting on this case or if he were never in the picture from the start, what kind of media attention do you think Deorr would have received or would be receiving 5 weeks later?

Regardless of the information or perceived lack of information obtained from each and every one of his efforts, if we took away his interviews of the family, the grandmother, the family friend, the PI, the Sheriff, the Nancy Grace/HLN guest appearances, the radio appearances, the timelines, etc., what information would we really have? Who would be Deorr’s voice if Nate Eaton wasn’t in the picture from the start and still here plugging away 5 weeks later?

Just wondering...

Thank you for saying that. I agree with you :).

As the facts of the investigation unfold I think it will become obvious that Nate was fighting an uphill battle with every interview he was able to get and was frequently cut off at the knees. moo

One of the first things I would have done in the morning would be to walk up to the reservoir to check it out. And I would definitely bring my children, because it would delight them.

The trip in the town probably took about an hour. If they were back by 1:00 pm, they could have left at 11:45 and it would still be considered morning when they left (per the sheriff's interview). Based on FB rumor, I don't get the impression it was a planned trip into town, so there was no need to make a grocery list. It is just a small little local convenience store and they just needed a few things. They weren't going to a big grocery store to buy everything needed for the weekend. There is no grocery store in town.

If they had just walked him up to the reservoir earlier that day, I would be surprised that they never mentioned it when discussing where DeOrr might have gone off to. It would seem like a relevant piece of info. JMO

This is my first post but I have been following since thread one. I also followed Jerolds case in Az, so very tragic and sad he wasn't found in time. But this little Deorr case has me scratching my head, there have been so many mysteries and oddities, and I have bounced around from theory to theory.
I don't believe Deorr jr.went down the bank, or tumbled down to the creek. I think if he did, he probably wouldn't be missing today because he would have cried, and one of the three would have seen or heard him and went and got him.The sherriff states today, "grandfather assumes he's gone down to them because he was with in their line of sight".
So " with in ..sight" means grand pop could still see mom and dad in the open area above the creek. And this corresponds with NE early video of the campground with a description of what occurred. NE is on Camara walking with the bank and creek to his right, shows us the bank, ( NE states it would be difficult for the toddler to go down, but not impossible ) walks and points forward and states they ( mom and dad) go exploring over there. The Camara points to an open area. Now I do know mom and dad end up at the creek , but I believe it's at this time, this moment little Deorr walks away ,and grando pop THINKS it's in that direction he goes, but it turns out its not. And for 10- 15 min little Deorr beelines or gets distracted and goes in a different direction all together. Chases something, a rabbit, a butterfly, who knows sadly. IR wasn't there ( at the fire) so he could not say he saw him there, hence his weird statements. This is just my thoughts ( for now ) but I still do not know why there is no trace of him.

Nate Eaton has taken a lot of flak lately. He has been raked through the coals for errors, omissions, for what some may perceive as shoddy work/reporting/lack of basic interview techniques. I’ve even read snarky and mean-spirited comments under some of his articles or SM, which, IMO, is uncalled for. Nate takes the high road, responds, edits, and/or apologizes, and does so professionally.

Keep in mind that Nate is not the one who had a child go missing on his watch, and yet he is the one who seems to have taken the lead from a SM standpoint on a regular basis to make sure Deorr isn’t forgotten and to prevent this from turning into a cold case. We may not agree with his ability to interview, ask the right questions, or even provide accurate information, but we certainly cannot deny that he seems to be doing more than anyone else in trying to keep Deorr’s name out there and trying his best to help find someone else's missing child! For that alone he has earned my respect.

Nate,
If you happen to read this, a heartfelt thank you for your many named and unnamed contributions to Deorr Kunz’s case, your ongoing reporting, videos, audios, radio appearances, TV guest appearances, family interviews, etc. Thank you for taking the lead in keeping Deorr’s name out there as well as for your continued determination. You have become Deorr’s voice, and he needs every one of us to work together to help bring him home! Keep up the good fight...

I agree. If it weren't for Nate, we would have a lot less then we currently have. Yes, I do get frustrated with some of his mistakes, but overall am very grateful for all he has done for this case.

So many questions so little answer. I personally don’t see JM/DK as parents who would intentionally hurt their kid, but I think they’re withholding information. I also don’t see IR as a suspect, to me he's trying to convince himself that little DeOrr was there with them. IR in this case looks a bit disadvantaged from his background and history. So, who had this idea of camping? When did they plan this camping? Who invited IR? Did anyone tell GGP to ‘bring that friends of yours to camp together?’ Have JM/DK heard of IR before? Since he’s been friends with GGP for about 5 years, but never met them. Did DK call in sick that day? I have a truck driver friend, and he’s mainly working at night and it’s random day.

Sheriff says there is no evidence of abduction. There are evidences, but they’re not pointing towards an abduction. Receipt doesn’t really proof that DeOrr was alive and was at the camp, any of the POI could have bought the item. We need someone who actually seen DeOrr alive with their own eyes since Thursday night, or at least a CCTV proof. So far there is no evidence that DeOrr was last seen alive at the campground at all.

Did anyone else notice that the only time IR seemed to actually stop and think coherently was when grandpa was mentioned? It was like he woke up and said "have you talked to him?" And then went back off into his daze. I believe he was told to say nothing. I think he actually said "I'm not at liberty to say anything about that." Or something to that effect. Something is not being told to the public. MOO

Thank you! I just hope he knows that his efforts ARE appreciated and that we need him. More importantly, Deorr Jr. needs him.

I feel better that I was able to give credit where credit was due. Now I can go to sleep. Night everyone!

Thank You, OneBest. Good information.

What do you think it means that the dogs kept returning to the campsite? Does it mean anything?[/QUOTE

Sounds like dog gave a negative at reservoir, end of trail, no find. Dog circled back to start to see if he could pick up any other direction of travel. Doesn't sound to me like there was one to be found. Sheriff does not say his dog followed scent down to the creek or over the embankment. He specifically says they went from the campground UP to reservoir. It would be interesting to see that on the map.

I just left a positive comment about Nate on at the bottom of one of the video links. I believe he is doing his best, and I am glad he is an advocate for Deorr.

Remember, up until last week, they weren't telling they went up Thursday evening. Therefore, they certainly would not be telling what they did early Friday morning. We were led to believe they were driving to Ledore on Friday morning.

Sheriff Bowerman reminds me of an Andy Griffith type official. Just a good ol boy, aw shucks, don't know if there are any cameras.

And yet he's able to organize this:

"The primary searchers included multiple agencies such as, Salmon Search & Rescue, The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office, The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office & Bonneville County Search & Rescue, Salmon PD, Idaho Fish & Game, multiple canine handlers, divers,"

Add in the infrared helicopter.

Plus the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent an agent from Wyoming who is familiar with the mountainous terrain.

I'm 99% sure Bowerman pulled out every resource he had available. I'd love to hear what he really thinks happened.

In the Sheriff's description of the three people at the campground: IR was truthful and the parents were good.

Which definition is the strongest to you - truthful or good?

I agree, but I guess I consider the dogs tracking to the rez hard to dismiss. Why his folks wouldn't have mentioned the rez as a place to look if he had gone up there earlier in the day, I have no idea, although it could conceivably fit into at least one sad scenario.

I just don't think there is evidence he was there after the trip to the store on Friday.

No matter what really happened, I feel so sad for DeOrr's family and friends. At this point, no outcome will be tolerable. This is just so tragic all around.

I get the impression that he is holding back on something in regards to IR. He says he "feels real good about the parents" but says, "Until we find a piece of evidence or locate anything that tells me otherwise, I think he’s being very truthful.”

On that note, I'm off to sleep. 'Nite all!

I just watched the video of the parents. The mother knows something. She looks very scared, but not the way a scared parent who has no idea what happened to her child does IMO. I think the parents believe someone has him and I believe the mother has ideas of who or why. I firmly believe after everything I have seen, read etc that this disappearance has something to do with the grandfather. MOO
