What DeOrr said in the interview was that there were rumors his boss wouldn't let him come off the road to help search. Which was obviously a stupid rumor because he wasn't ON the road in the first place when it happened lol. He mentioned this when they were "setting things straight".

Just jumping off this post.

Also rumored was a filthy, bawling DeOrr in the store.. Seen with a gentleman in a black truck..
Now, Dad addressed the "black truck" issue... Yet, allowed the filthy, bawling DeOrr to go the as truth..
So, IMO. DeOrr was not a happy camper that day - question is WHAT day was DeOrr at the store bawling.. Was it Friday (as dad admits to Friday - they were there "as a family" & before 1:00 as dad said he never left the campground after 1:00pm
One last thing.. If the person who started the rumor used the words "filthy and bawling" for DeOrr and his behaviour.. Yet also describes the man as a "gentleman" I have to wonder who looks like a "gentleman" Dad, Issac or Grandpa???

Well, after watching the Sheriff in the unedited interview... I strongly believe he KNOWS and is NOT saying what has happened.. I have that "feeling" about him.. I feel he is angry and disgusted..

Also, someone posted up thread about Sheriff using is own dogs.. Well yeah, I would FULLY expect that he have dogs there ASAP if my child was missing! Only Sheriff went a step further .. He wanted MORE dogs there... Just incase... It is very telling that BOTH groups of dogs found NOTHING. Very telling IMO.. I can see one set of dogs missing the scent, but TWO sets from two different handlers.. Nope.. IMO.. (modsnip).

Yes, when the Sheriff used his own dog, it was not an inexperienced poodle that lives on the back porch. He means his K-9 , well trained experienced professional dog. I have a lot of confidence in the searching capabilities of a backwoods Idaho Sheriff. They do that kind of work all of the time. People go missing routinely and he has a lot of experience searching for hikers, hunters, children, backpackers etc.

What he has less experience doing is investigating 'foul play' , imo. I am glad he brought in the FBI.

Thanks for the map, but now I'm confused, I was thinking Timber Creek flowed south, but it flows north? IOW, it flows north into the Stone Reservoir through the campground, then continues on to the Lemhi then the Salmon River. Is that right? TIA

Yes that is correct, it flows north and northeast until it reaches the Lemhi River. It starts at the top of the mountain that is southwest of the campground and flows down to lower elevations. The reservoir is a higher elevation than the campsite.

It appears I was  as to the direction of flow of Timber Creek, what's new, LOL. :crosseyed:

Well, you just never know. lol We might have to check out the geological history to know for sure, I guess. Maybe it USED to flow south?

Anyway, N, S, E, or W, do we, as a group, know how many miles of creek was searched? Just looking at the pictures Arnie posted this morning makes me REALLY wonder how anyone or anything could possibly "search" for a very small little boy in just a couple of days and then announce categorically that he's just not there.

Am I imagining that the sheriff said he was aware of this report? That elevates it a little bit above rumor level to me. Doesn't mean the report was accurate, but at least it's not something overheard in gossip at the hunting supply store.

And if you remember, in an earlier statement from the sheriff he said "given the proven ability of the dogs, we should have found something". So, he knows his dog and knows the track record, if you will, of the other dogs. Putting this all together with all the info he has, he has a theory, imo. "Crowd sleuthing"..which is what we do here is becoming more of a challenge to LE and they have to be very careful not to tip their hands. The internet is very powerful and can do good and bad and rally people in an instant. IMO, the sheriff will be very glad when the FBI report comes out and he can move forward or move on. JMO

Did I read somewhere the FBI report takes 6-8 weeks and the local police won't be investigating much more (unless something new happens) until it's ready?

I totally agree & I didn't realize the connection with Bonneville as being where they live, but in the video he seems deeply appreciative or maybe they made progress...something, his demeanor really changed. Also just after this it appears the uncut version was cut. lol

“And you said Bonneville is also assisting, mainly because the family lives there.”

Sheriff Bowerman:
“Very much so! Very much so!”

I just want to give a shout-out of thanks to TxJan1971 for the wonderful transcript! :blowkiss:

I have never seen this before.. if this is already a resource here then I apologize. I thought sections B and C applied. You can read it to see what you think was done in this case and what might have been missed. I am going to guess the Bonneville PD and the FBI did a lot of this.. i have no way of knowing..

I think that's also why he strongly doesn't believe the abduction theory. If you believe the family version of events is accurate then the window of opportunity is impossible.

There is the possibility that the family version of events is incorrect due to the stress of the situation.

Given the rules of this forum the only other scenario is animal involvement.

I was thinking about the cashier and wondering if she really could have seen them except it was the evening before?

I have tried to make that work in my mind too. But it seems not to fit. The cashier said 6 pm. The family reportedly arrived at the site about 9:30 pm. So the timeline does not work for me.

The thing is, there are probably dozens of black pickup trucks in the surrounding area. And dozens of crying blonde kids with dirty faces too. So I don't think the sighting would be all that unusal. JMO

We don't know what time they left home do we? They arrived at the campground at ~ 9:30 pm and given even LE have now changed the arrival date to Thursday after finding out during the investigation
(i.e. sometime between their first statements and Trina posting on FB) it wasn't Friday, I'm not taking anything for granted when it comes to times.

Question: Was there mention of Dad bunking off work or is that rumour/not allowed to be mentioned?

You make a great point about the Sheriff and his ability to know that area. I think he acted efficiently and quickly. JMO However, I am also very glad he brought the FBI in because it is always good to know your own limitations.

Bowerman said Tuesday that everything has been turned over to the FBI, which includes interviews, recordings and physical evidence.

The FBI told the Lemhi County Sheriff's Office that it could be at least six weeks before it receives any information back from federal investigators.

The sheriff also said on Tuesday that deputies are still searching for the missing boy, although they're not up at the Leadore site 24 hours a day. Deputies have received numerous reports of people finding human bones, but they turn up to be false reports (or in most cases, animal bones).

Speaking of Bonneville, they were the ones who apparently ruled out the Wal Mart sighting. Perhaps Bonneville knows whether the store clerk sighting has been ruled in (still investigating) or ruled out. :)

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has ruled out a lead they received Monday night concerning a missing Idaho Falls toddler.

According to Sgt. Jeff Edwards, a woman at the Ammon Walmart called the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office around 3:45 p.m. She told detectives she spotted a boy she believed could have been Deorr Kunz Jr. with a man. The two-year-old disappeared while camping with his family in Leadore, Idaho on Friday.

Edwards said detectives have reviewed Walmart surveillance video and investigated the tip. Tuesday afternoon they determined the lead was unfounded and the child was not Deorr.

***
We get a speedy rule out of WalMart tip, most likely as a result of WM having surveillance video. I can buy that. The questions remain, however, 1) who told JM about the store clerk sighting, 2) has the sighting been ruled in or out as of today, 5 weeks later?

JMO IMO

OMG I forgot there was a Wal-Mart sighting in this case! It seems in every case there is a Wal-Mart connection somehow.

We don't even know if the cashier saw DeOrr. It could be any wailing 2 year old blond boy in Idaho. No-one has ever confirmed that there was a credible sighting at 6pm in the store, never mind whether it was DeOrr. The cashier could have seen an entirely different blond haired kid.

YES!! I agree totally. Totally! SAR is only allowed to deploy under the direction of the Sheriff, so IMO Sheriff Bowerman probably is very well aware of the SAR Resources in his area. He complimented them and appreciates them. I totally believe his only goal was to help as soon as possible and work the scene from there. I do not believe an ounce of personal gratification was on his mind, JMO. God Bless him and give him strength. Thank you Wendy101.
