My post was deleted and I'm not sure why. Let me modify it and see if it sticks this time.

So why does it seem that great grandfather just let a 2 year old wander off toward the creek and not go after him?

"My dad was standing their watching him and he turned his head and then (Deorr) was gone," Clegg said. "It appears like he just vanished."

http://www.eastidahonews.com/2015/07/grandma-of-missing-2-year-old-he-just-vanished/
7/12/15

So when I come back up to get him and I yelled over to grandpa, uh, "Where is," you know, "Where is little DeOrr?" he, immediately, shocked, he says, "I thought he came up to you."

http://www.eastidahonews.com/2015/07/uncut-entire-interview-with-parents-of-deorr-kunz/
7/13/15

Grandfather assumes he’s gone down to them because he was within their (parents) line of sight and uh, wasn’t too far from the campground.

Primarily, the information we have is…grandpa is watching the child. He tells me he looks away momentarily. When he looks back, he’s gone, and he’s assumed he’s gone over the bank.

http://www.eastidahonews.com/2015/08/lemhi-sheriff-opens-up-about-deorr-kunz-case/

The sheriff said Grandpa saw that little DeOrr was within his parents line of sight and he presumes he went over the bank. Did he think his parents were right there too? JMO

Isaac says "as far as I know (he just disappeared) because Isaac wasn't there when DeOrr disappeared - he was at the creek, downstream from the parents according to the sheriff. He wonders if the reporter has talked to Grandpa because Grandpa was there and my guess is Grandpa later told Isaac he saw little DeOrr go toward his parents.

Excellent post, Jules! I completely agree with your theory and observations.

I have no idea why the FBI or the sheriff would tell the PI or the family not to talk to the media. I just think that is what happened after the PI announced that he was planning to go national. Please see my explanation below.

In the interview at about the 4 minute mark, the PI says he "That's why I wanted to go, hopefully, go nationwide. We have a nationwide telephone number..." In PR speak, "going nationwide" means getting national media attention and that is how I interpreted it. Also at 8:50 he says that "he is hoping on, counting on the media to take the case up and take an interest in it and want to cooperate by broadcasting our nationwide tip line, that was put into effect this morning." To me that is a request for media attention.

That interview was released on Aug 11, now it's August 23 and we haven't heard another word out of the PI. Why did he even do that interview and set up a national tip line if he wasn't planning to draw attention to it through the media?

Perhaps the PI wanted to go national, but there wasn't any interest? Deorr's been missing for over a month, there's nothing happening in the case, LE has said that they don't believe Deorr was abducted, and 99.9% of people outside of the local area have never heard of the case. Even when the case was new, it was barely covered by the national media. There are newer stories that have actual developments happening. The PI may have been told that they weren't interested, and isn't media savvy or aggresive enough to get them to change their minds. There are cases where MSM was not interested, so people made it go viral on social media, and then it got picked up. I honestly can't see something like that being organized here. I don't think getting the national media to cover a story that is over a month old and nothing is happening is simple. His comment sounds pretty passive, like he wants the national media to take an interest in this case (over the thousands of other cases out there) and isn't going to do anything to make thme take an interest.

Could be, but I don't have that impression based on what I have heard.

Intriguing....

The only other reason I can think of is that getting the national media involved had conditions? For example no interviews with parents etc. That wouldn't go down well.

The other thing to consider is that maybe the PI's own investigation has led him to back off of the abduction scenario and that's why we haven't heard more about the tip line.
Or maybe he's vacationing er um I mean following up on a tip in the Caribbean.

I agree with you Arnie. Depending on recent rainfall amounts, many quiet creeks can become loud and fast moving making characteristics of creeks vary from day to day. Also, In most shots of the Timber Creek, I noted a LOT of natural debris that a small child could easily be camouflaged by and/or held hidden.

I had almost forgotten this story. When we lived in Oklahoma at the foothills of the Wichita Mountains, we had a creek that ran across our property. My husband built a bridge so our children could cross it to catch the school bus. Most of the time the creek was close to empty. However, when we got a heavy rain that creek would rush and roar so loud that no one could hear anyone yelling. After a heavy rain we once paced the creek off (using the water marks after it had receded) and it was 150' wide. During once of these times one of our dogs (unknown to us) got swept away in the creek. I was HYTERICAL and drove up and down to everyone who lived near the creek asking if they had seen her. I posted signs. I put an ad in the paper. I walked miles and miles calling for her to no avail. Then, 8 days later, I looked out my front window and there was Kelsey walking up the sloped hill toward our house. I couldn't believe my eyes. She was in bad shape and her upper leg was bloody and swollen so we rushed her to the vet. She had gotten the upper part of a hind leg wedged between what he believed to be a rock and had been stuck there for days. Some how she eventually managed to get herself loose. We have no idea how many miles she traveled. Talk about a miracle. Although we can't expect the same miracle for little Deorr, I hope there's a miracle for him none the less.

Actually right about the time the PI did that one interview would have been a great time to try to get some national attention, since they missed the initial window of opportunity. Shows like Nancy Grace might have picked it up from the angle of One Month Later and No Trace. It is getting a little late now and will soon become old news. :( That makes me so sad.

Oh my gosh! I am glad she made it! IIRC, in the first interview with the parents I believe I recall Deorr Sr stating that when he and Jennifer were standing near the creek it was loud enough so that they had to yell to hear each other. I have experienced this a number of times while on a search or when camping near a creek.

I think that maybe the PI and/or parents could get on NG, a morning show, maybe People Magazine ONCE, but that's it. "One month later" thing like you say, but there's nothing else to say after that. They definitely missed the window of opportunity.

ETA: I think that if media outlets were not interested back in July, they wouldn't be interested now. That's why I think their only shot would be with the ones who did report on the case then--People Magazine and Nancy Grace.

**This is speculation only** The sheriff says the campsite is a crime scene, yet he has ruled out abduction, wild animals, and being in the water. Not exactly in his words but what he has told us IMO.

This leaves us with something happening at the campsite and little Deorr was taken away from the campsite. Right? We know there was a 3 mile radius searched around the campsite. How do you think Deorr was removed and where was he placed?

Perhaps we need to begin to look at what may be the "ending" and work backwards. At one point, we might find the actual story. **Speculation Only**

The sheriff's crime scene comment + the fact that he specified publicly that the drones were brought in to take shots in case of a trial + that he specified passing behavioral evidence to the FBI + that he thinks abduction the least scenario does make it seem like he thinks a crime occurred at or around the campground.

We don't know why he has so much confidence that the toddler is no longer in the vicinity, not in the creek not in the reservoir, not taken by animal, not abducted, yet WAS at the campground. He hasn't ruled anything out because he can't yet, but he does seem to have some strong hunches--at least about what didn't happen, including that there is no need to entertain the possibility of the involvement of an old staring man.

I really feel for him! He seems like he doing everything right. He is being fair, yet comprehensive, and made the great move to bring in the FBI.

Yes, I also recall that statement. In some of the videos I can hear the creek in the background.

I skimmed through a FB site about Deorr last night. Someone had posted a picture, and alongside it some words about finding him. The background was of the reservoir, but in the foreground was a see-through (superimposed?) picture of Deorr. It really hit me hard, as if it were the spirit of that innocent little boy who is now most likely deceased. Tears actually streamed down my face. I don't know who, what, why where, or how, but I do know I sometimes become embroiled with these theories and lose sight of how tragic and sad this case really is. :(

bbm ... yeah, it's something that is painful to contemplate. I remember my own kids at that age, and they were so small (comparatively), helpless, defenseless. They were completely dependent on us for everything. I just don't know ... it's heartbreaking.

Just a thought, if DeOrr drowned in the creek and his body was moved, LE will be able to determine COD as drowning if his body is found, right? Is there a period of time where it would become impossible to tell?

If he drowned, water will be in his lungs. I would think as long as lung tissue is intact they would be able to tell.

When is hunting season?

Not soon enough when thinking hunters are among the most likely to find Deorr if he is in the area from which he disappeared. A little while ago I posted to Nate Eaton, the reporter who has worked hard to keep Deorr's story fresh, and I asked him what he thought about rallying local hunters now, perhaps accompanied by skilled SAR persons, to do another search for Deorr, so long as law enforcement approves.

And so excited and curious about everything. My son used to constantly point and say, Oer der! Oer der! (Take me over there, I want to see!) I bet DeOrr was excited by the creek, the camper, the trails, all of it.

My 2 year old grandson heads immediately for any body of water. Someone that age knows no fear of the dangers of nature. They have to be watched and easily within grasp at all times.
