I thought it was determined from Deorr's FB page that his black truck is a 1979 Chevy 454 3/4. At least that's what I have in my notes and I don't have a source listed.

It appears to me the Older Black Dodge Truck has a Chevrolet box fitted to it. That threw me off at first too. I have also seen a Black Chevy 3/4 T parked at the search site / camp site .... it may belong to someone else

My reason for thinking the Black Dodge belongs to DeOrr sr is because it has been shown several times at the campsite where he spent the nights while searching. It has also been mentioned he stopped for diesel fuel en-route and that sounds like Dodge Cummings to me.

Hope that helps . I do not know anything beyond that.

In the video above that Arnie M posted at 1:26 there is a black truck with missing posters. The one that was subject to a discussion about reflections in the rear window the other day.

Is that Deorr Sr's truck?

Nobody has denigrated the SAR people.

I stand corrected. An earlier post said this:

By comparison , searchers from the general public will walk side by side along a busy road in waist high grass in front of TV cameras.

They half expect a missing and deceased person to pop out of the weeds waving a red flag. Those folks never find anything , but it makes them feel good . Unfortunately , emotions are not search tools. Neither do they make for good detective skills.

and I remembered it as SAR.

I still think a large number of the people who showed up to help search are probably hunters. Don't most people in Idaho hunt something? They would have been directed by someone knowledgeable if they were conducting a grid search.

Looks like an area that might be good for upland game birds?

Elk hunting is big in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. I think the season also opens Aug 30 for bow hunters.

It also looks like Pronghorn season started in that area on August 15 and runs to Sept 15. However, the Idaho hunting rules are a bit hard to decipher.

I don't know the answer, but I know they had two black trucks where they were camping when LE asked them to move after the first few days. DeOrrBlackTrucks2015-07-17_50.jpg

The one on the left is a 1999 Dodge Durango. The one on the right may be DeOrr Sr's.

IIRC, Renarde said the one on the right is a GMC extended cab, early 80s?

I wish I had written down where I got the info that it is a 1979 Chevy.

I had almost forgotten this story. When we lived in Oklahoma at the foothills of the Wichita Mountains, we had a creek that ran across our property. My husband built a bridge so our children could cross it to catch the school bus. Most of the time the creek was close to empty. However, when we got a heavy rain that creek would rush and roar so loud that no one could hear anyone yelling. After a heavy rain we once paced the creek off (using the water marks after it had receded) and it was 150' wide. During once of these times one of our dogs (unknown to us) got swept away in the creek. I was HYTERICAL and drove up and down to everyone who lived near the creek asking if they had seen her. I posted signs. I put an ad in the paper. I walked miles and miles calling for her to no avail. Then, 8 days later, I looked out my front window and there was Kelsey walking up the sloped hill toward our house. I couldn't believe my eyes. She was in bad shape and her upper leg was bloody and swollen so we rushed her to the vet. She had gotten the upper part of a hind leg wedged between what he believed to be a rock and had been stuck there for days. Some how she eventually managed to get herself loose. We have no idea how many miles she traveled. Talk about a miracle. Although we can't expect the same miracle for little Deorr, I hope there's a miracle for him none the less.

That is so Amazing! I'm a dog lover, and so very thankful your blessed little fur baby was saved. :) As you, I just wish that Deorr can be saved as well. The only hope is that he was abducted and being cared for. I'm kind of not getting the feeling that is what happened here :( ... but then again, who am I ?

I can't point out any specific posts, but there have been a some that have denigrated the SAR people. I just ignore it and move on. FWIW

Bear, mountain lion, and wolf seasons are open August 30th in that unit as well.

In reading about the hunting season starting I was thinking it would be really nice if a picture of what he was wearing when he went missing could be published.

Even if they had to show catalog pictures of similiar items it would help!

Can we tell, from the various maps that have been posted, how far the tree line/s are from the actual camping area, like near the fire pit and picnic table? I know we have talked about the creek and reservoir but I don't think we've discussed much about the adjacent forest area/s, the distance someone or something would have to travel to have abducted little Deorr from the campsite, as well as places a person or thing might have hidden and observed him before taking him.

I would think that would prevent any large scale organized search? Who is going to go searching and risk being hit by an arrow or whatever the hunters are using? If the baby is up there, perhaps a hunter will stumble across the remains. I know some people have asked about seeing facsimiles of what Deorr jr was wearing. There is a photo of similar articles when you watch the NG broadcast.

IMO: We shouldn't get our hopes up to high about hunters finding him. It's not like suddenly at the opening of hunting season hundreds of people will be flocking to Stone Reservoir to hunt. Idaho has such vast areas of wilderness and there are so many really great places to hunt that it is more likely that only a handful of people would choose to hunt in particular area in any given week. Of course, there might be a few more people hunting on weekends or on opening day and less people during weekdays. However, IMO, it will average to out to be 1 or 2 on any one day, if even that.

FYI, The most popular things to hunt in that part of the country are deer and elk. There are much tighter restrictions on hunting other big game like bear, pronghorn, wolves, mountain lions, bighorn etc. There are quotas set by the state on the number of these animals that can be hunted. To control this, the state only has a limited number of permits available that allow people to hunt these animals. The permits are distributed through a lottery-type (drawing) system.

Some more data to put things into perspective, about 8% of the US population hunt in general and less than 2% of the US pop hunts with a bow.

It is common sense that anybody searching should wear orange just to be safe, but hunters don't just blindly shoot at anything that moves, especially bow hunters. Hunters don't shoot unless they are sure they have a clear shot of what they are shooting at.

On the other hand, if there are people out searching in a particular area, hunters wouldn't want to hunt there. The searchers would be scaring off any wildlife from the noise they make while moving through the woods. I don't think the fact that it is hunting season would have any impact on conducting organized searches. It's more the other way around, the searches will prevent hunters from hunting in that area.

I don't understand why the PI doesn't set up a website dedicated to finding Deorr. Photos, images of his clothes, descriptions, updates, leads, etc. - you can't find an abducted child if no one has any information.

I'm left to assume that no one really thinks he was abducted. If the PI and police aren't pursuing it, then I'm eliminating it from my list of theories as well.

We discussed this the other day. IMO there is a reason why the PI has backed off from his planned push to gain national exposure. I wonder if LE or the FBI have asked him to back off.

It's been six weeks now. Some things should be coming back from the FBI lab.

I look for something to happen in the next couple of weeks.

Fingers are crossed.
