Yes, IMO, he is trying to rattle her and get her to answer lots of questions where he will then go back to the phone records and other proven media to bring up the same questions in front of the jury that she may have answered wrong to show the jury she cannot be reliable because she is on record answering wrong answers.

There is no jury here so he can be much meaner here to her than he will be in front of a jury because attorneys know they have to be careful in front of a jury. They dont want to alienate a jury by being too mean to innocent witnesses because a jury relates to witnesses in the same sort of way they have been innocently called for jury duty. They think of the witnesses as similar to them.
