I watched the 20/20 special on and off and I didn’t learn anything new, other than listening to Adam talk…I am even more repulsed by Janis…she obviously put Lori on a pedestal and everyone else in the family was required to worship her beauty, in spite of her actions… Janis seems like a very shallow ostrich who enjoys putting her head in the sand…AND you can’t tell me Lori’s niece didn’t know about the attempt on Brandon’s life, surprised that their isn’t any digital evidence to support this..
I made the same observations about Janis and Melanie. Can you say clueless? It was nauseating to me in the first half of the program how they kept reiterating what a good mother Lori was. Good mothers aren't out for photo ops with their children and don't have them murdered. Reminded me of Casey Anthony. And to add to my anger- good mothers don't constantly move their children around, sell their therapy dogs, and take them off their meds without reason.

LVD was a "good mother" as long as someone was watching. Not unlike the story of "Mommy Dearest" about the late Joan Crawford. Children are accessories, to be used as props for people to adore the Narcissist. And as disposable as shoes, purses, or any other item.

It is crazy to watch this behavior. I have seen it myself, personally. Those poor kids. The Narcissist turns on the "Perfect Mother" persona, then turns it off, as quick as a light switch. On for an audience, off when there is no audience to impress.

One minute, shower the children with adoration, attention. Then, when the audience is gone, kick them if they come near you. It is beyond crazy.

Those children were just props for LVD for her "wonderful mother" persona. Then, inconvenient for her next persona as "CD's Goddess". Gone.

I do feel feel bad for Colby. That behavior will mess you up for life. It may save him to have her behind bars forever. JMO

You described the behavior perfectly.

I realized this after the news shows kept posting pictures of her riding the ‘log flume’ with family members. I thought ‘oh. She’s successful because she keeps showing people ‘fun mom’; they aren’t correlating this to lack of maturity on Lori’s own part; that is to say, ‘Lori doing things which please Herself.’

And taking them on trips to the beach and to Yellowstone. That's not the definition of a good mother in my book.

Obviously, I'm not a LV fan but I'll have to respectfully disagree. There has been nothing to suggest any of the above. In fact, it's been the opposite from pretty much everyone that knew her including her own son. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone say anything bad about her as a mother for as long as you can go back. My personal opinion is she is/has been mentally ill but really went over the deep end at the end. This would explain everything Colby has stated. I'll assume he knows her better than anyone so if he's saying this isn't her...something is amiss. Just my take.

Especially when you are planning their deaths to occur after their trip to Yellowstone. I still cannot fathom how callous her behavior was.

She is a hollow being with no goodness, love or gratitude for those that loved her. All of my children have had accidents that could have been fatal and everyday I thank God that they are still with me as any grateful mother would.

I sometimes picture what her soul must look like...what a hideous, ugly hag she is.

Sorry if late onthe discussion but life insurance policy says it all. She was exhaulted and worshiped. Daybell would do anything for her and she knew it. And he did. Lust and greed over life and living. She is not crazy nor does she need to be sheltered with the term unwell in a facility. This is outright working your way through marriages via narcistic and a God like self indulgence. There's no reason to believe that what it is what we see a mental illness no more than charels Manson. She hid, prepped and plannned. Nuff said.

This woman has been moving up the chain and knowing exactly what she was doing. Chad was the one she is looking for to do the job.
She didn't want the burden of kids as they got older. They were baggage. She was getting older and time was closing in and came across a butthead who also would put her on his will and pedestal. If she got away chad would also be dead.... on to the next victim

Without a fear of the death penalty why not gamble. What's the worst that can happen. Beging fed and housed? Homeless people suffer worse.

If there is any mental illness to be said I would say Chad. I do not believe any of them are. His lust vs her greedy narcism. Sometimes you just have two criminal idiots. Lori should be behind bars like Chad. There is no reason with her past history to indicate she didn't know right from wrong.

A mental illness doesn't make excuses before they are caught or hide what they do before fact. Confession of being fully emmersive afterwards due to mental status is incoherherent to the facts. In essence she knew right from wrong. She knew her out and she knew who to blame. She suddenly becomes a victim despite her path of destruction She plays it like a violin.

Is Janis her Mother? The one that looks like one of the California raisens?

Edit. Yes. Nevermind

I agree with those that said riding on a religious based crime is an automatic time out to a mental facilty and the courts can eliminate any use of insanity as a loophole. Let's hope they forsee this and allow enough rope.

Children, even adult children, of narcissistic parents often minimize and forget their childhood. They remember when the Narcissist was the "narcissistic mom", meaning pretending for everyone else. And often minimize the "real one". After all, he was not "abused".

That is why the book, "Mommie Dearest" is so interesting to read. It opens up what emotional and mental abuse is.

Years and years of court documented abuse say otherwise. IMO.

I agree and would add if anyone has a mental illness it would be Colby. He has thoroughly been abused and taught she was perfect. He likely won’t remember all she did until late in his Life. It’s crazy what a narcissist will do to their child.

Re: the 20/20 interview with Adam Cox

Wow that Adam Cox was communicating, texting with Charles Vallow right up until his death. I think Adam said Charles text him …why is Alex ‘s truck at Lori’s house ?
Adam said he also communicated with
Brandon Boudreaux post his shooting experience.
Beyond frightening that Adam feared for his family & self…slept with a gun.

MOO
I Feel so bad for Adam. Seems like he is the only sane person in the Cox family.

I don't believe Tylee or JJ had the same chilhood Colby had. Tylee probably had a horrible time during her preteen and teen yeras until she was murdered. I feel the worse for her, she 100% knew what was going on.
