I asked Lori Hellis questions and she answered.
Thanks for the questions. I have heard from several sources that Lori is at Intermountain Hospital in Boise.
Very interesting thoughts, thanks.

I still don’t believe the state would opt for any private hospital, especially not an LDS-operated facility. You do provide a good reason for me to be wrong, though. If she *is* there, it might well be that the state is trying to avoid any accusation of disrespecting the defendant’s alleged devotion to the LDS Church, for any number of valid reasons. We shall see, and soon, I hope.

Well, one way to find out where she is, is for someone in the eras of suggested hospitals, to take a ride around the block/parking lot and look for a car!
I'll do it tomorrow. Intermountain Hospital that is.

But if they gave in to his demands I have lost all respect for the justice system in Idaho.

I don't know about Idaho, but in Massachusetts it's pretty common for the state to subcontract with private providers of mental health services, either because state-run facilities are full or because specific expertise or facilities are needed. Security would be one reason for doing it.

I’m a bit surprised the State didn’t declare an intent to seek the death penalty on these charges, prior to this meeting (no pun intended). Assuming that they will be seeking the DP, this scheduling date of Nov-December will have to be moved once a DP-qualified attorney is assigned to the case, correct?

Interesting, is Means also a specialist in psychiatric treatment? Does he have a background in psychotropic medicine? How would he be able to evaluate whether a treatment plan for LVD is appropriate? Why should a clinician have to put forth any information prior to treatment for a patient, for a prior evaluation by an attorney? The hubris of this request is absolutely outrageous.

I could continue to go on and on about Means...
SBM. You nailed the key word in describing MM: HUBRIS. It’s nauseating, infuriating and comical all at the same time. JMO

Not that he that many wits to begin with.
The only words that have ever come to my mind regarding CD are DULL, DIM, DUFUS, DRIP. There is not a single thing about him that a normal person would find the least bit interesting. He’s a dull as a rock in his posture, his appearance, his voice, his writing, his eyes, everything. :P. MOO

I asked Lori Hellis questions and she answered.
Thanks for the questions. I have heard from several sources that Lori is at Intermountain Hospital in Boise. Yes, the state will pay for her treatment. I don't believe she's getting special treatment. My understanding is that she's there because they have a secure unit that accommodates the security concerns surrounding prisoners.

So far, the judge has not issued a gag order, so I don't expect the judge to say anything about his tweets. I think the judge will schedule hearings out of an abundance of caution - he doesn't want anything he does to result in an appeal. I expect the state will ask to consolidate the two cases (the murder and the earlier destruction of evidence case) for each of them. Thanks for reaching out - I love hearing from readers. Cheers. I think it hushed up on jails part JMO also, none if the news stations except Court TV. So maybe it's the same now..I guess we never what the Judge decide about Means requests on Mean's control of Lori in hospital.
Either she can participate in her defense or she can't.
Allowing her to have it both ways, being allowed a delay with constant contact with her attorney is a miscarriage of justice to the victims.

No. If he was here, I don't think he could keep his mouth shut.

...Good point.

Also, we can be pretty sure he hasn't got a secretary somewhere to delegate the task to, because I doubt his missives would have as many typos and grammatical errors as they do if he had someone else to write them. :p

Do you have a link for that? When someone posted that earlier, I did some research and didn't find that to be the case.

Intermountain Hospital

Also, Intermountain hospital is a private mental hospital near the jail in Boise. It is a LDS owned hospital. JMO but would she be sent there? We haven't heard anything from the Judge about Means weird requests!

When LV got declared incompetent with no time frame or maximum waiting period in sight, I assumed the joint trial thing went right out the window and that's exactly what JP wanted. I doubt he'd be asking for continuances and taking a chance of LV to suddenly becoming cured or competent. Being severed easily opens the door for him to put the blame on directly on LV and AC and not have to deal with the burden of a loose cannon like MM riding his coat tails and constantly screwing things up.

I don't think I ever saw JP smile before today... today he was almost jovial and dare I say, pleasant? Yup, he got what he wanted today!

It had the same thought today. He was ‘pleasant’. And if this was the first you’ve ever seen JP smile, count yourself lucky. I still can’t get the image out of my mind when he giggled in front of Judge Eddins and we got a full side view of where his fake teeth ended and his real began. BLECH!! JMO.

I imagine the higher population densities in parts of Massachusetts make this necessary, and they do have a vast system of health facilities in the state, many of them at least partially state-funded if not public institutions outright. The basket of choices is smaller in Idaho, true? I'm learning so much about Idaho through this case. I especially enjoy hearing from those of you who live there and understand the subtexts.

That running-rat gif is like something out of Leni Riefenstahl’s “Triumph of the Will.” What astonishing hubris.

Self-confidence and the desire “to have my say” are often inversely proportional to demonstrable competence. /physics

I thought JP gets along better with the new female prosecutor (LB) than with RW. She brings a clean slate into this case.

Still talk of her being in a private hospital owned by LDS

It might be a matter of 'beggars can't be choosers."

My understanding is that there are more pretrial defendants in jails who require competency restoration, than there are beds in state mental health care facilities.

According to the sources included at the end of this post, waits for restorative treatment are typically around one month, but some are as long as a year.

Wherever, Ms. Vallow-Daybell is treated, I hope it is secure. Ahem, to the court order labeling Lori Vallow-Daybell "unfit for trial" but "not dangerously mentally ill".

How high the body count have to be, before someone is deemed "dangerous"?

We are where we are because too many — including professionals who should have known better — underestimated Lori Vallow-Daybell.

what does this mean?

what does this mean?

it likely means she was moved to another facility to begin her competency treatment. Even though it was ordered by the Court, the transfer doesn’t happen immediately- due to many reasons like written in a few posts above (lack of beds and availability).

He strikes me as menacing in his dullness, if that makes sense — starting with those dead eyes.
