Additional charges possible in Vallow/Daybell case

One of the charges against Lori states that both she and Chad tried to get their friend to lie about the kids’ location: a woman named Melanie Gibb who lives in Arizona.

If that name sounds familiar, that`s because she was their cohost on the “Preparing a People” podcast.

Our sources close to the family say Gibb has a lawyer and is cooperating with the investigation.

If the last sentence is true, I find that interesting. If she did not act in furtherance of Lori's solicitation to obstruct which is what the arrest warrant affidavit says then what other legal jeopardy does Melanie have? It may just be her being prudent but it could also be that she has some other involvement and cooperating is part of some deal to avoid prosecution.

We do know of her podcasts and close connection to Lori. I believe I read or watched somewhere that MG feared for her life after her interviews with GPD regarding the children's whereabouts and that CD and LVD asked her to lie when questioned. She deposited her own children with family and went into hiding in Utah.

I remember Chad did a book signing in Sugar City, Idaho and Lori had a PO Box address in Sugar City. So will need to check that date again.

I also believe they were at an eclipse campout in July 2017 and could have met there but MOO.

Great info!! Hope we can get more. I for one, just never saw Lori as the reading/learning type. The stereotype, of course, is "all for the man she wants to catch".. May not be relevant--I feel certain that MG knows the first dates... if she is hiding, she will, however, stay quiet. for a while. drip drip drip.

My two cents regarding their marriage validity. I believe the police. We aren't questioning Tylee was in Yellowstone, but the affadavit is where we heard it. We've heard previously they were married November 5, Dateline was it? The bottom line is "legally" she hasn't been arrested on charges of standing in front of a wedding clown. LE isn't obligated to share their entire vault of evidence outside of a trial.

P.S. my husband has valiantly offered to be flown to Hawaii for a couple of weeks to identify Lori for the court. Complete strangers. Lol.

Lori probably can't read here all the time if she was before. I wonder if Chad is reading?

We need to know the names of Lori's husband's 1 and 2 from years ago. Can we sleuth them to see if they are still alive? It seems there may be some doubt. I am also wondering about them waiting for her fingerprints from the mainland that was mentioned in court. Does she have a record where here fingerprints would be in file?

I think Alex was no longer useful to Lori and Chad and knew way to much, someone did him in !! I thought as I read the account of him dying he was heard saying "who"I took it to mean who done this, he is thinking as he lay dying.

There is wisdom in what you say. That's one of the good things about this forum - many people from all walks of life bringing together their thoughts, ideas, perspectives, and life experiences in an attempt to find answers and find the kids. I've benefited from listening to other people, even if I disagree with them on certain points. I've even thrown out crazy ideas that I thought had no merit, later discovering that is exactly what happened. This is such a crazy and complex case with so many people and factors at play that it's hard to know just what is going on and why.

And you're right. We do need to be careful. Not just in what we listen to or accept, but also in what we say and post. Please don't take this as calling you out - I'm not. I'm certain I've been guilty of posting things that others might find hurtful or offensive without thinking about how it might affect them.

Earlier I expressed outrage at a young lady for sticking her tongue out and making faces at others in a situation that I felt demanded more respect and consideration. And yet isn't that what many of us, myself included, are doing figuratively when we make hurtful comments (as an example, such as comparing Chad to a frog) when there are real people with real feelings involved? We should be treating everyone with dignity and consideration, even if, no - especially if - they are guilty. Why? Because there are still innocent victims involved that might not be at the forefront of the case. Innocent victims that might call Chad father, grandpa, brother, uncle, son, friend. And when we try and hurt Chad by calling him names, mocking him, threatening him, or whatever the case may be, we are, by extension, doing those very same things to these other innocent victims we don't hear about and hurting or offending them.

And I'm not saying that we shouldn't expose corruption and crime wherein we find them, just that we perhaps ought to do so a little more carefully. That is, after all, part of what this website is about, right? Being professional and courteous towards all people, even if we disagree.

Just one man's humble opinion. FWIW.

ETA. Oh, and I believe for the most part everyone does treat each other with respect and this site has been very professional. But there is still room for improvement. Myself included.

Thanks for this reminder. I know several of the people who have been discussed on this forum and I'm deeply concerned about the missing children. I just don't understand....and I just haven't figured out how to dial back my own sadness, frustration and anger. (<--Please tell me I'm not alone?) It's affecting my day-to-day life and it's obviously been informing how I post. I'm trying to figure out how to deal better, while also worry constantly that the next thing we learn will be The Worst. Sorry, everyone.

Three questions I have right now...1.They're not married? Did we ever see a certificate? 2. What does it mean Lori had Tylee's money card? SS? Isn't that against Federal law? 3. I think they were faking the whole religious thing. I think it was all about the money for them. I think they don't have any religious beliefs. Do you think Melanie is in danger?

I have only listened once but I think he said cards, plural. She also had Jj's iPads, again plural. And their birth certificates. Can we get copies of their birth certificates?

I think they are not legally married otherwise why is the judge calling her Vallow and not Daybell? But the court is calling Chad, the husband.

Which reminds me, in court, her lawyer said she had not left Kauai except for a few days holiday to another island and she hasn't got a passport. That is not really true because she left originally with Charles, to go back to Az, then to Id, without telling Jj's forwarding address and she left after their Nov 5th ceremony and returned in December once already. I would not put it past her using someone else's passport, like Tammy's or her deceased sister's either. What about the alleged trip to Mexico? Was that not true?

I don't think Chad has any incentive to talk. I mean, his wife of 30 years very conveniently died, leaving Chad free to marry Lori and a decent amount of life insurance. If Tammy's death wasn't exactly natural, Chad could be looking at a very long prison sentence. Who knows what Lori knows about that.

I don't think we ever had "husband #1..because there is thought that there was never a marriage there. Husband 2 trackable, living. LV --his first marriage, has had two others.. seems to be normal life..and non-sleuth anyway. What i find interesting is if she is strong family LDS, i don't think the first 4 husbands were! This just does seem right for having strong LDS belief.
