I LOVE talking to the new missionaries.

o/t i had a family of them who lived near me at my old house, they would visit weekly or every two weeks or so, i told him flat out i don't believe in what he does and i'll never come to your church

but we ended up staying friends for many years, saw his daughters grow up into nice young ladies and have families, he brought the new grand children around to visit

nice people if you find the right ones and you're clear with you about your intentions, some though will ignore you if your not apart of their religion

Maybe the reason they had the birth certificates was really very uncomplicated -- they didn't want anybody else to find them.

Add to that .. Chad called MG and asked her to lie about having JJ with her... he can't possibly do that if he doesn't know JJ exists. Chad's a liar. Lori's a liar. When two liars who have mental issues (obviously) get together, it's like 2 addicts feeding off one another. I listened to someone commenting about the case who mentioned the concept that both of them removed their voices of reason in their lives and instead they wanted to be together to feed each other's fantasies. This is a theory I find remarkably credible given what we've seen and suspect. MOO

I am SO GLAD I am not a neighbor of Chad's because I would be camping out at his door and IN HIS FACE! But my husband wouldn't let me do that tho it might be fun to jet over for a couple of days!

Fond Memories - I use to use my youngest daughter as a small human antenna. She looked real cute holding those old "rabbit ears with the aluminum foil stretched between them" beside that TV set. If she held them just right the TV reception was a lot better........Meanwhile back to these crimes....Find Tylee and JJ !....moo

I grew up among many LDS and dated several. When my children were very young, I had a wonderful LDS neighbor watch them. I actually find their family nights and many of their believings (mainstream of course) to be admirable. And let's not mix up this Lori clan with regular LDS I realize.

I would be really mad if I tried to kill my husband to help support somebody's cult....and then the cult turned around used the proceeds from other dead people's life insurance to vacation in Kauai.

No plans to kill my husband, but I'll just keep in mind that if I ever do, I should just skip the middleman.

IMO the reasons LV May have had the birth certificates are for opening up accounts for her children... If her kids were getting benefits from their deceased parents which we all assume they were ... all a parent or guardian needs is their birth certificate as form of their identification to open up account. This is of course my own opinion ...

Well, in November she showed up twice at the house of BB's parents, second time she was claiming she had a court order allowing her to take the children. She was arrested for trespassing. So I very much disagree everything was resolved by October.

BB filed for divorce and custody of their children in July. Neither was contested by MB. The divorce was finalized in October. So was custody: per Gardener's timeline: "22 Oct BB and Melani's divorce is finalized... Melani did not show up for court to challenge custody of the children (Arizona Republic)."

Apparently Melani has (since 10/22), changed her mind (though there's no mention of this in the timeline). New documents must now exist which the attorney was referring to, because there's no way that any reference was made in the July divorce filing suggesting Melani knew where kids were who were not yet missing.

I was wrong in not knowing that a new custody battle was underway. But the original post I responded to was less than clear. I've been guilty of doing that before as well. But it is what it is.

I believe Brandon, he is from here in Arizona, but I'm not sure where he's at right now. He's kinda laying low, uh, and Melani is in Idaho actually at the same apartment complex that Lori was living in right next door. Reportedly with information on the children? Yes.

Haven't had time to catch up, but regarding passports. It is the US that determines whether a passport is needed. Hence if you board a plane in the US, you will need a passport. Likewise, if you disembark a US ship you will need a passport.

If you walk or drive into Mexico, you will not need a passport. If you return from Mexico to the US via car or foot, you will need a passport. (Unless Mexico recently changed their laws and made this a requirement. But to the best of my knowledge, Mexico does not require a passport. It is a US thing)

I’ve been lurking for a while too! You guys are so awesome and I appreciate all the information you’ve provided. I don’t know why this case has captured me so fully...probably because I’m a mom and I’m also a member of the church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) that CD and LV belong to...! It has made me so sad and I wonder how people can be so crazy!

I saw a few posts wondering why TR would have disappeared on 9/8. I’m an online student at BYU-Idaho and the fall semester started 9/16. The new freshman and on campus students would have moved in the week before. If LV was telling people TR was going to college, the week of 9/9 most likely is when she would have gone. I believe BYU-Hawaii started the first week of September. I did not look up when BYU-Provo started.

I am glad some of the other members of the church talked about the preppers/food storage/getting out of debt stuff but wanted to add my own opinion to it. Having a 72 hour kit, extra food and supplies (3 months-1 year), and being out of debt have never (in my lifetime) been toted as “for the end of the world.” It has always been taught as a wise practice in case of a job loss, an illness, a natural disaster or something like that. I’ve been a member my entire life and I live in Utah and I have never heard of the groups who can’t be named until this case broke. I personally know of no one who has a bunker and to my family members, friends, neighbors, and associates prepping means buying an extra pack of toilet paper and an extra case of cream of chicken soup at Costco! (Personally, I have maybe 2/3 months of food storage in case of an emergency) I don’t buy that LV is a “prepper” because she’s been living out of suitcases and totes for over a year. Unless that suitcase is filled with 50lbs of long grain rice I don’t buy it. If you were really worried the “end of the world” was happening in a few months you would not be spending the time leading up to it on the beach. MOO

I also wanted to add that some of the things CD and LV supposedly believe are things that are NOT part of our religion/doctrine. Specifically that only 144,000 people will be saved. When I read the info it’s hard to believe we are even a part of the same religion!

That is interesting. I wonder if the "guilt" factor will work. Chad grew up LDS. And Lori's "spell" probably isn't as strong with her behind bars.

If the police offer Chad a deal, I wonder if he will take it?

These documents have to be new because Melani only started to engage the court in Arizona for custody of her kids in January. It is clear that the document Justin is showing is the response to her petition to get custody.

Per the docket the document we are seeing a portion of would have been filed on February 19th.
