Okay I think reading this triggered me a little and I have kind of a strange question. Do you happen to also be male? You are under no obligation to ask answer this question; I will explain why I'm asking. I am old, and know lots of guys who feel totally entitled to tell a woman what to do, but they would never do this with a man. I'm just trying to figure out Chad feels entitled to do that in general, which kind of suggests to me that he really does believe he's above literally everyone, or only with those he perceives to be subordinate to him for whatever reason. Also, does anyone know if Chad is the oldest child in his family?
MentalHeadSlap, NO! I am a woman! Just because Chad is a guy gives him no right to tell a woman what to do. I can't imagine what world you grew up in...That hasn't been acceptable for 70-80 years.

The irony is he likely split from Julie's teachings when he became enamored with Lori... and they have fed off each other now. So his beliefs would have shifted to accommodate hers. Also, he did distance himself when Julie was ex'd. It would be amusing if he was later ex'd himself and watched as people distanced from him too.

His book market would be toast!

From one of the stake presidents referring to apostacy:

“All of the children in the XXXX and XXXX families were included when the sacrament was being administered (the children only drank grape juice) and the older children were also baptized. At first the 🤬🤬🤬 felt that they had experienced an increase in spirit and light but this quickly turned dark.”
BBM

Didn't I just read something similar to the part in bold from who...LV? Can't remember. It had to do with children having light but then turning dark. ?? Who said that?

It was her niece Melani that was reported to have said it:

“Melani’s knowledge of the whereabouts of her aunt’s two missing children and her unwillingness to cooperate with law enforcement is daunting and her current husband has told law enforcement that Melani says sometimes children are full of light and then just like that they go dark,” the newly revealed court documents say, according to Fox10.

unfortunately, I am lost with this post. Could you elaborate more as to what this is meaning and referring to... so sorry, if it has been clear in former posts...

I'm not positive, but I took it to mean they either turned bad/evil or she perceived that.

I would be happy to donate but I won't do it through PayPal. I know there is another way for PayPal that asks if you want to do it through your credit card instead?
yes it lets you change your form of payment after you click on the paypal link.

To be fair here - a lot of people attended one of those conferences who aren't really connected with this mess. So it's not really fair to say that everyone who was ever begged to speak there, or anyone who ever attended one of those events is a cult member. HOWEVER, there are many of them that were very regularly involved, heavily involved that do qualify under the label of cult member. I don't think we have a real way to easily identify these people - hence why they have blended in so dang well that it's scary.

ETA - this would be akin to saying anyone who has ever read one of Chad's books is also a cult member - not really. People gift these out all the time but often Chad's books are rejected and uninteresting.

I just hate to hear that these charlatans use the teachings of the LDS Church to suck the good and faithful in.

Marriages and lives destroyed. Finances and people's health ruined. People dead or missing.

Ref: EIN article, message from Chad to CP/AVOW.

What is GRI? Is that Chad’s private pay forum within AVOW? What does is stand for?

Looking back, even to when I met Chad when we were eleven, I think there were always two Chads. I mostly knew the really nice one, but I think there were always two. I got out my yearbook yesterday, and what he wrote to me our senior year was really creepy, giving me advice on who I should hang out with and what I should be doing with my life, like he was all knowing. I think people just didn't realize how weird the "other" Chad was. MOO
comes back to my thought that they perhaps were both born "bad seeds" ....and they met.

Originally they were owned by the church and the church gave them that name. At some point they stopped using tabernacles other than the one on Temple Square and some of them were sold off. Apparently those that bought the buildings did not change the name of the building.
From what I have now read in the link posted upthread it was flooded and needed work so the city paid for it and it then became city property.

:eek: i believe Melani used a similar phrase! LDS members here, is this familiar phrasing within your church system?

true... but pastenes is not the common... I find one marriage way back in 84. But evidence of another..... bottom line is she is quite mysterious as well...and hope we can sleuth her more openly eventually..

oh yes... hopefully we will not get bogged down with the patriarchy of LDS...we will never get anywhere.
While I do believe that patriarchal cultures might lend themselves to vulnerable people (often women) getting caught up in some of these extreme offshoots, I agree that getting into the weeds of those dynamics probably takes away from the main points of this case. MOO

No. This is not cultural or doctrinal based phrasing in the mainstream of the church.
We believe children under the age of 8 are not really accountable yet, and they are typically simply innocent. I have never actually seen or heard anyone referring to children in any way as "going dark". That, I believe, is cult-speak or their own lingo.

ETA - In thinking about it we do refer to light as being from God and another word for truth, and darkness to be it's opposite, but the phrasing of "going dark" when applied to anyone is not something you hear mainstream at all. It's rarely used to refer to people or individuals - more likely related to idea or teaching to identify truth or lie/error.

That has to be some kind of cult speak, because an LDS stake president quoted another cult member saying essentially the same thing.

That is what they called the sub forum at AVOW (all of AVOW is basically a pay forum with one charge to get to the main thing and an additional charge to some subforums). No idea what it stands for, but that is the one where he hung out.
