Just out of curiosity: Did he “work for” that MLM or did he represent the products as an independent distributor?

EDIT: Also want to clarify that by “LDS MLM” you are referring to the founders/owners as being LDS, not referring to the Church as owning the company.
yes, worked for. yes, lds founders. should have been more clear.

I think comparing cults, their beliefs is a very natural progression in discussions with cases like these. I am not sure why this was so offensive, maybe they understood your statement to be comparing LDS to Jim Jones? I took it to mean comparing people/groups who have taken traditional beliefs and twist them to their own radical extreme beliefs, most times for personal gain. Why Lv and CD went rogue is a good question, why did they leave mainstream for these radical beliefs of being transient beings sent to save the world.
Ohhh, that makes sense. Thank you. Though we know from previous posters that this duo is pretty far removed from mainstream LDS thought. I would still like to hear DoctorAttorney’s perspective about what triggered her.

Early on in the thread I suggested MG (as they were podcast buddies) might have them and was told it was ridiculous- yet now we hear that Lori asked her to lie to actually say she had them. So did MG ask Lori why she or Chad should lie or even ask her where the kids actually were? How come nobody in her circle is asking and has any answers? Are they scared of Lori and Chad themselves?
wonder if MG is in hiding as well. Have we heard anything from her lately?

Im just wondering if Lori asked Chad to bring her checkbook, credit cards & debit cards etc to the jail or turn them in to her lawyer. Idk why this thought crossed my mind. Chad's financial history is poor. If Lori doesn't go broke buying her defense (likely). Chad will use it to fund another pipe dream IMO.

I'm acquainted with one on a very limited basis. The other I've never met. My husband knows them. I just know how I'd feel walking into that. She was a nice lady and I'd like for them to not have certain images burned into their hearts. Jmo
Absolutely. Share their love...

I haven't watched it. When did it air? I don't remember anyone else mentioning it yet. Let us know what you think.
It aired yesterday 5 pm EST. CR, the Aunt with the Blog (I really wish she would join us here) and the Grandparents all spoke. You can watch the episode here
"Doomsday Couple" Found in Hawaii; Family of Missing Children Speak Out
I believe this link is ok to post please remove if not allowed.
I didn't learn anything new, but I cried a lot. It was emotional.

Yes. I agree. Let’s imagine that Chad were a “normal”, innocent person, who just lost two spouses in 4 months (in this case, one to death, one to jail). I would fathom they would be destroyed inside. Destroyed. Mourning, barely able to get out of bed.

I feel like CD’s arrest is imminent, because imo he has obviously done and witnessed some shady stuff. I’m just befuddled how he appears so “collected.” Either 1) it’s a defense mechanism, numbly carrying on, going home, donating things, focusing on his white paper, because right now it’s just about survival; or 2) he truly has confidence that things will turn out just fine because of his revelations, beliefs, and general disillusionment.

Moo

I think he has been adept at leading a double life for some time and lying is now second nature to him. Did Lori's lawyer know that he was lying in court for Lori at that point as Chad was moving out? Lori must have known so just another lie was it? Another contempt of court there.

Hello everyone! I've been a lurker here from the very beginning and am horrified and fascinated by this case, like so many of you. I don't really have anything insightful to add but wanted to tell all of you how much I appreciate the discussions that have gone on here over the last few months. It's the first case I've followed on WebSleuths, and I've learned a lot. It has also kept these children very real to me, and although I'm prepared for a tragedy, I continue to have a small sliver of hope they're alive. As crazy as this case has been so far, wouldn't that be a fitting outcome? I do have one question: do we know where Lori is in age relative to her siblings? Is she the youngest? Middle child? I know Stacey was older than her, so she's not the oldest. I'm curious and don't recall it coming up before.

Chads email address was revealed on Nate Eatons Facebook page. I know this is petty but I’m about to start my bombing run. 3...2...1...
Let us know if you get any answers.

It'd get dinged for not being plausible enough.

Yup. Unrealistic story. How gullible does the author think we are? Seriously, this incompetent wordsmith thinks we're gullible enough to believe this couple would have dead bodies spread all over, kids missing for months, and it takes the police that long to drag their butt into jail? No way. :)

The cliche that "truth is stranger than fiction" exists for a reason.

MOO

I wonder if they had any joint accounts. We know based on MSM that Chad had $138k at one point. But hadn’t heard anything about Lori’s accounts.

Welcome to the family. Like nearly every family, we've got our share of odd aunts and uncles, but each one is dearly valued.

This is perfect :)

When did Tammy go to college to obtain her teaching/library science credentials? Would she have been hired as a school librarian without out certification? Can a paraprofessional been able to obtain higher amounts of life insurance? Or did Tammy have another
policy?
So they had over $200,000 of debt wiped cleaned in 2010, which would mar their credit report for seven years.

Chad obviously didn’t take heed and learn any lessons from his previous bankruptcy, he was making it rain in Hawaii with his blood money.
Interesting, I lived on Guam for a while. There are some common threads with their history. Those that know the true history of their island don't take kindly to strangers. Unfortunately, for Guam their history has been whitewashed by the public school system and local colleges. However, you go down South, a lot of them know exactly what happened.

Guam is strange like that. The Northern half is like living in a mid-sized US city, and many of the locals don't know their original history. You go the Southern end, many of them know their roots, and it is very rural and traditional. The difference is hard to explain, but these are two very different environments, even though they are only separated by a few miles.

I guess it would be similar to going from East LA, to Lafayette, LA. Except you only have to travel 5-7 miles to get from one area to the other.

I was fortunate that I was fully immersed in the culture, and due to my ability to pick up the local accent I was mistaken for a local islander (even though I'm haole).

That's why it is pretty fascinating to know when Chad's involvement truly starts

e.g was he around Lori's place before the kids go missing?
Well he had to be really didn't he? Isn't that why Lori moved up there to make it easier to see him surely? We know he was there on Nov 26th, we know they saw each other on the memorial day in October, he was on her storage footage in October and it looks like they saw each other in September as well as making a podcast together in September, from that I am guessing that they got together as often and as soon as she moved up there early in September after vacating the Az home where CV was killed. Early October specifically as well, when Tammy was at her parents.

This case has disturbing parallels to the Jacqueline Bouknight case in which a mother refused to disclose what happened to her children. She was jailed for 7 years and finally released without ever providing meaningful information as to her son's whereabouts. In the Bouknight case she claimed to have given the boy to relatives or friends to block the state from putting him with a foster family. Lori's attorney has made the same argument now, saying she did not comply with the Idaho court's order because it would have allowed the state to put her children in foster care. I find myself looking for reassurance that this case will not end in the same stalemate as Bouknight and I come up with the following: 1) There is a very good chance that pressure applied to Chad may cause him to crack. I would think there's a decent chance he could be charged with a conspiracy count alleging he conspired with Lori with respect to the kids; 2) Obviously, all the strange deaths represent a significant difference in this case and one or more charges may result from those incidents; 3) There are likely more people with potential knowledge in this case and, thus, investigators are more likely to solve the mystery with today's forensic & investigative tools; 4) The charges against Lori appear much more serious than any that were leveled against Bouknight. … I'd be interested in anyone else's considered thoughts as to whether or not a Bouknight outcome would be possible here. If so, I hope she is kept incarcerated for at least the 7 years Jacqueline received.
