The article posted in the media thread (eons ago) said March 26th.

Maybe she actually did hire a new attorney and they forgot to name him? Haha. Either way...
The new motion for bail is signed by Means so he is still her attorney as of 24 March.

  • #903
Lori asks for bail reduction, her attorney "asserts new facts have come to light to support this motion since the previous motion bond hearing."

Eric Grossarth on Twitter

Oh, does he mean to tell Lori is going to give the address and phone # to where the kids are staying? THAT new facts?

New facts, coronavirus? Jmo

  • #904
Could new facts be anything to do with the virus?

Chad better get his bottom back to ID if he wants to show he lives there before he is locked down in UT.

I just said the same thing. I missed a whole page. I suppose she could try to argue life saving measures or something for a reason to get bail reduced. Jmo

"Share your thoughts of what these new facts could possibly be".

Maybe she "found religion" in jail!

Possible reasons -
1. She's got CV19 and needs to self isolate at home.
2. Nobody wants to post bail as it is too high.
3. She will provide details of kids whereabouts if granted lower bail.
4. All the media publicity means she can't get a fair trial.
5. CV19 will affect juries getting together due to social distancing rules and delay trials.

I bet it is something to do with CV19.

Correct. Lori's attorney has asked for a reduction in bond again saying he "asserts new facts have come to light to support this motion since the previous motion bond hearing."

Prayers up that the kids are alive and their location revealed. Isn't this the only fact that really matters?

Where are JJ and Tylee? Tell us, Chad.

Im not saying he didnt have ties to their group but him being a member of the LDS community isnt proof and the information on the computer i think he claims is stuff he learned from MBP after they got together. It does not prove.he had a y involvement prior to him meeting her. Its possible she was trying to recruit him into their group and he went along with it because he was attracted to her.
that is very true. hopefully we learn more before too long. I had thought he was more of a player earlier on...but now he does appear to look like a deer in the headlights.

Just a bit or morning humour. Ford Motor Company has announced that they are going to start making masks in their factories. They are specifically to be called "Positive air Processing" masks... you can tell where my mind took me..

Lol, I'm worse. PAP always - - and I mean ALWAYS - - makes me think of a lady test.

Hey guys! I just noticed that it looks as if the next morning, Nate woke up and re-read his article about Ian, Melani, and the "cult beliefs", and noted that it was making much less sense than it needed to, for lo! he has posted a next-day update to this article, which IMO adds in a lot of answers:

Zombies, shootings, dark beings: What new court documents suggest about Lori Daybell | East Idaho News

(After the quoted portion, there's some more BS (IMO) from Melani's attorney about her innocence. I did not attempt to repeat any of that.)

(I also note that whenever Nate says "allegedly", what it seems to mean is "according to the documents filed in court by Brandon". It doesn't mean he necessarily thinks they're lies.)

BBM:

Ian became severely worried about what he was hearing and spent days trying to reassure himself that everything was fine, according to court documents. In the meantime, Ian’s ex-wife had reached out to Boudreaux, and he told her Melani was in a “cult” and that she had tried to have him killed.

Going to the police
Ian’s ex-wife contacted him and expressed her concerns, according to court documents. She said she was going to meet with police, and Ian agreed to go with her.

“What I shared with the police were the ideas that Chad, Lori and Alex may have planned shooting at Brandon and that Tylee and JJ may be in serious danger if Melani’s fears have any validity,” Ian allegedly wrote. “If shooting at Brandon was indeed based on the idea that he was no longer actually Brandon and needed to die as part of the Lord’s plan, then the kids’ lives could be forfeited based on the idea that they’re not really Tylee and JJ anymore.”

Ian shared other details, said he would cooperate with police and allowed them to pull data from his phone. He met with officers the next day, and they gave him a recording device to put on his keychain.

“My plan was to record anything I thought could help locate Tylee and JJ, locate Chad and Lori and understand what happened when Brandon was shot at,” Ian wrote. “If I thought Chad and Lori were going to be calling, I’d turn on the recorder and just let it run until they’d hung up.”

Ian says nothing substantial was ever recorded with Chad and Lori because they never talked about the missing children.

On Dec. 19, police searched Alex Cox’s Rexburg townhouse, and Ian says he admitted to Melani that he had spoken with officers.

“I didn’t know how she would react, but I couldn’t hang onto the stress anymore. Of course she was hurt, feeling betrayed, but she reassured me that she loves me and that she understands why I did it,” Ian allegedly wrote.

‘What-if’ scenarios
Over the next week, the couple discussed what Ian had shared with officers and Melani allegedly told him she didn’t have any proof of what she had told him. They agreed her expressions were “what-if” scenarios.

“I’m worried that I jumped the gun and have sent the authorities on yet another wild-goose chase along with prompting them to light up the national media with pieces of what I shared,” Ian allegedly wrote.

He expressed his frustrations with Chad and Lori fleeing to Hawaii and said he “still had his doubts” about them.

“I don’t ever want to have anything to do with those two after this. Melani has been put through the ringer because of their paranoia and now is in the hot seat because I went to the police and tried to help,” Ian allegedly wrote.

He concludes his report by saying he will only deal with law enforcement officers going forward if his attorney is present.

Right! So it's not a new attorney, it's a new reporter... They have a little bit of catching up to do! /s

Kind of funny if she is released and has the run of four counties, while the rest of the citizens sit at home on CoVid house arrest...

So is IP saying he did not know where Chad and Lori were at this time? I don't believe that he and MBP did not know that they went back to Hawaii. They clearly came back mid Nov because of the trespassing incidents by MBP at her inlaws. Did IP know them in mid November?

Very good point. That is probably what she will say - that the CV19 rules will effectively be house arrest.

Lol. For real though, what possible facts could he be referring to? Is he going to try and pin everything on Alex, and claim LVD is a victim? That would seem stupid. I do think something in the evidence that was handed over during the initial discovery will be the "new facts", but at the same time, I think Mr. Means is looking for ways to get her off on some technicality. I can't think of one thing that would make her look like she is less of a risk or deserves her bail to be reduced. Please, fellow WS pals, give me something to ponder during home quarantine. Share your thoughts of what these new facts could possibly be.

Is it possible that Lori's lawyer will claim that the threat of coronavirus (with closure of other institutions, such as schools, and required social distancing) represents a new fact warranting lowering of bail so that Lori could be released with an ankle monitor?

Yes, all prisoners are begging to be let out... even Michael Avenatti. In the latter case, even though he is a convicted felon who stole millions from clients, he never committed violence (one alleged DV that wasn't prosecuted) or killed anyone. Still, he faces two more high profile felony court trials and his wishes are not likely to come true.

So, in example, while many prisoners are being let out, it's supposed to be for particularly vulnerable, elderly, or non-violent and misdemeanor type of cases. Lori shouldn't qualify, unless perhaps she produces the kids. Every jurisdiction seems to be making their own rules tho. I doubt this angle will fly. But mud / wall / see if sticks. In the meantime it puts the court and attendees at risk as everyone has to show up for the hearing.

So they searched Alex's Rexburg apartment a second time on 19th Dec. Did they believe the kids may have been there between 27th Nov, when they previously searched it and 19th Dec? I wonder if they also searched the house where he died on the 12th Dec in Az? They surely would not just search the Rexburg appt and not the Az home would they? I do wonder about Alex's wife and what she must know. Do many posters believe Lori can produce them unharmed?

I would say - has Miss Daybell demonstrated any concerns about or attempted to ascertain the current wellbeing of her two children? No? Then the answer is no, stay in your cell.
