Respectfully Snipped By Me
Is it too much to ask that her aunt would love Tylee enough to correctly spell her name?

Can you point to where she has misspelled Tylee’s name? I’m curious if this has been edited since it was first posted, because all I see are the correctly spelled “Tylee” and a nickname “TyTy.” (Though I have ADHD and my eyes are very possibly just skimming over an error or mentally rearranging letters to make them appear correct! That’s why I ask)

i personally felt pain and sincerity in her statement. I think she was intentional in making it about the kids & her own atonement rather than focusing on their killers. there is time for her to do that, but, right now, I understand not wanting to or being able to spare headspace for them.

Something is not making sense to me. Alex took JJ TO HIS APARTMENT AND THEN BROUGHT HIM BACK ASLEEP. THEN, he comes and takes him again in the middle of the night? I'm struggling with whether this death was accidental overdose. i.e., Alex gives him too much risperidone to settle him down brings him back asleep, Lori goes to check on him at some point and finds him dead and calls Alex back to come get him. Melanie already knew that Alex had taken him and brought him back. Then they have to explain in the morning that he's gone again? If intentional, why did Alex bring him back just to kill him later? Or did Lori do it after Alex brought JJ back and Alex came back to clean up? Or, maybe Alex couldn't do it? Maybe Alex really is just the clean-up man and Lori did it to each of the children. I have to go back and look at the affidavit timeline for Tylee and Alex's whereabouts. Was it similar? He came back and cleaned up? I'd like to know where Chad was the night JJ went missing in the middle of the night. LE has not said what Melanie knows about that. I'm sure LE has an electronic trail for that too that we don't know about yet. I'm thinking Chad and Lori took care of the kids, not Alex. He just cleaned up.
What we do know is Alex was there for an awfully short period of time the day JJ’s body was buried. Either Alex left Chad with a body laying out and a lot of digging to do or Chad knew the body was coming and pre-dug the grave.

You mean something like her trying not to be mad at the people who are angry with her and her family? Or perhaps it’s that she never acknowledges her sister did something horrible, in fact never mentions her sister at all? IMO these people are and have always been more concerned w/how they look to others than they are the fate of those two poor kids. Bass-ackwards priorities IMO. I have no sympathy for them and don’t care to hear another word from either Sister and Mommy Cox. Ever.

Yes THIS!!

I have the NBC app, and it looks like it will be on there tonight. But, you have to put in your cable (TV) provider. So if you don't have cable, you might not be able to view it.

You might also create an account for NBCUniversal -- I was able to watch 3 episodes for free. But I'm somewhere that I can see broadcast TV right now and I've used my 3 episodes, so I can't test whether it would work tonight. :(

Tammy looks so beautiful and vibrant in the quick shot in the preview....ugh, this is gonna be BAD.

I share your disgust and unhappiness with this family. However, I'm also mindful how powerful the psychological forces are that drive people to defend those they love even to the point of denial. The typical "I know him/her and she could never hurt her kids" is so common as a statement of support/denial in murder cases to the point that we must acknowledge it for what it is -- an attempt to shield the speaker and his/her family from opprobrium, shame and guilt. This is a national/worldwide story and these families are going to be tarred with this shame and loathing for decades. I tell myself not to get worked up because the consequences for these families will be horrible beyond measure and their pain and discomfort is only beginning.

But the simple fact is; Janis & Summer did not have to go on the national media stage and speak out, they chose to do that. Their focus was on Lori, not Tylee & JJ.

They could have kept the interview brief and focused on the kids. That didn't happen, just as in Melani's statement. The familial dysfunction shone like a spotlight.
You can't put this stuff out there and not expect people to react. Had they simply said "Our family is deeply concerned about the whereabouts of Tylee & JJ, and we are hoping Lori reveals where they are. We want to thank LE for their efforts on behalf of Tylee & JJ". The consequences in the court of public opinion would be different, IMO.

It almost feels like she’s pretending to believe what she’s saying... I can’t really put a finger on it, but she just doesn’t seem sincere. MOO

They would go through with the preliminary hearing because they have to. Due process requires a court must determine there is sufficient evidence to permit a case to go forward and, in this case, there is plenty of evidence to support the original charges against Lori for desertion/contempt. Thus, they have to go forward with that preliminary hearing. They COULD upgrade the charges to murder if they wished, but doing so would require them to charge crimes that likely are not fully developed -- a dangerous approach you want to avoid. If possible, the prosecution wants to delay charging while they get all their ducks in a row and develop as much evidence as possible to nail both of them. Starting the process prematurely could really bite the state in the rear. When you have both defendants incarcerated there is absolutely no reason to rush unless you are certain of the means, motive and method used to support murder charges. My guess is they have a lot to do before they can wrap up an airtight case.
There is also the fact that it is the Idaho AG that is prosecuting murder or conspiracy charges against at least Lori. Two separate prosecutors by agreement a month or two ago.

Oh, yeah. Oprah is very much disliked and considered a minion of the devil in several groups like AVOW. You can find quite a few evangelicals who think she is too.

I understand why a mother and a sister would hold the opinions they held. But someone should have advised them that using network TV to blame Kay was a terrible idea. The only thing that would have made any sense for them to do publicly would be to use that platform to plead with Lori to tell someone where the children were.

I also understand that she's lost a niece and nephew in a horrible grisly, way -- and her sister and brother were involved. That has to be hard, and it had to be hard to say anything public about that.

just a reminder, they had legal advice sitting with them at the time. Apparently not very good ones though.

And, as you previously posted that link to the police interview AND mentioning JM! Once again it appears obvious - Lori had a helpful bunch of friends while Charles struggled with every step.

that makes me very sad when it’s phrased that way. It’s powerful, but sad.
