I would guess money and power, as he did seem to have somewhat of a following. They both get off on manipulating the world, but my opinion is that Chad is in way over his head because Lori is basically a professional “black widow” at this point.

I personally think that "homeschooling" is a bit too lax. At least, let's have some better oversight.

Totally agree. His books may appeal to a prepper audience but neither of them give a hoot about surviving doomsday or whatever the cover was for their relationship. They aren't about the end at all, they are about today. And today was a beach day.

Lori gets bored very easily and also clearly has a lot of pathology going on; she craves and thrives on novelty. Chad is an average middle-age man with an average middle class life in an average small town.. Most of us who have reached middle age have found happiness in a somewhat predictable life, a good home, and sturdy relationships. Those things are pretty darn great if you're fortunate enough to have them, but he threw them all away.

How ironic that Chad's whole walk-on-the-wild-side started with a near-death experience. Kay's right -- he should sleep with one eye open and he shouldn't forget what happened to the last two of his predecessors.

Shame on both of them for all the lives they've damaged. Those two children who didn't get to show up today are really missing out on the love of some amazing people. I hope they're alive and saw today just how much they are valued.

Yea, somethings really off with those two, and it's probably been a while coming. From the interview with Kay, it sounds like they had started or were close to starting an affair in January last year. What exactly they'd been doing on their own before that, to get to the point where they'd consider an affair is anyone's guess. I think this should be a wake up call to Chad's children that things are not what they seem with the Father or with his marriage to Tammy the last year, before her death.

I look forward to seeing some real action on this tomorrow, now that this procedural exercise which was never going to produce the children is out of the way. It's hard to believe that in a situation involving either the welfare of a vulnerable child, or the criminal hand of his mother in his death, police have to wait on court opening times. I hope she is dragged out of wherever she is staying in the middle of the night and put in a cell or on a plane in cuffs. MOO

A reporter did ask if the police told her where Chad and Lori are. Kay answered I know they are not in Hawaii. But then she went on to say that the police had told her that they are still there.

—— this question was on the heels of her kind of getting flustered and just stopped talking mid sentence of trying to explain something. I don’t know if she was continuing in that frustration and didn’t mean what she said but yes these two things, or statements, are opposite but her tone and body language indicated that she believed the same thing, that they were in Hawaii.

Just watched the news conference with Kay live.

From it she was asked how she knew Lori was having an affair with Chad. She said Lori wasn’t tech savvy. She says in the email sent folder there appeared videos of Lori dancing that were sent to Chad in January of last year.
