I'm going to get in trouble for talking about funeral potatoes like I did for fry sauce. :) Think of a casserole (hot dish, if you're from Minnesota) that doesn't have any meat, but is a combination of shredded potatoes, cheese, I think cream of mushroom (or cream of something) soup, and possibly diced onions (but not sure) and maybe a few other ingredients. It's kind of a staple side dish that are among the things always served at a post funeral get together at the church for family and out of towners at a Mormon funeral.

If you search on Amazon for funeral potatoes you'll find a company makes an instant version of them (ideal for your food storage, preppers) available from there.
Thanks for the reply. I’m Catholic and Cajun. After funerals, we frequently serve poboys, fried chicken or gumbo if it’s winter.

I'm not clear on where on the timeline this "Miss Daybell" occurred, (and don't have time to follow this back tonight, it's bedtime)... and I'm a bit puzzled. If it was before Lori & Chad's supposed marriage, she wouldn't yet be Daybell... and if it was after, wouldn't she be Mrs, not Miss?!?

RSBM

I think it is the PI saying Miss Daybell isn't it? Will have to go back and check.

Or just a very cold heart. Likely nobody in the family suspected that he was leading a double life. Maybe he justified getting rid of Tammy as part of his religious mission.

With all due respect to the immediate Daybell family, IMO Chad may have been leading a double life in regards to an affair with Lori but they had to be aware of his views. There are books, podcasts, speaking engagements, campouts, sons doing audio versions, etc. They also had to be vaguely aware of Lori to some degree based on his podcast with her in September, prior podcasts, engagements, etc. His other podcast friend claims she spoke with his daughter so they all would be somewhat socially connected.
I think of it this way. I go to church with 100 other people for a couple of hours each week. When we are together I know what 100 other people are doing (not what they may be thinking). When we leave I may check in with some though-out the week, but don’t really know what they are doing. The only people I know from church what they are up to 90% of the time is the ones I live with. Even Chads brothers family was uncomfortable with Chads radical views. I believe Chads children are loyal to their father and they grew up with his beliefs. I do not fault them. But look at their actions even after trickles of info came out. Even when they 100% would have known about Lori. The mocking on camera, initially refusing tO let LE in to serve warrants at the Daybell home.
As for Tammy from all accounts she was the salt of the earth, but she was aware of his views. Again, was she aware of an affair? IMO a woman’s intuition is pretty powerful. She seems to be the type that may not voice her concerns but that does not mean she wasn’t acutely aware something was off in her marriage. Maybe not? IMO I doubt it.
MOO I respect all the victims here and do not want to sound as if I don’t. I just disagree that the family was not keen to Chads double life.

The double life was mostly in reference to the affair. Personally I doubt that his children or Tammy were aware of it. Chad also lead a double life in regard to his visions about Tammy's death. He shared those with his writer friend and I'm sure with Lori. Lori had crazy ideas, like the one about being a god. If Chad subscribed to those, I'm sure he didn't share it with Tammy. Apparently she wasn't a part the cult, or she wouldn't have to be replaced.

I wish there was a sub group where we could all connect more... I have more to say other than this case but I dont have social media, we should have a websleuths group where we can just friend each other... thankful for this site.

You can start private conversations. But you have to make sure not to bring anything to the main forum, if it is not within TOS.

Are there any as of yet unsolved suburban murders or disappearances in the Chandler/Gilbert area that occurred last year?

Yes. This woman's body was found in a nature area. There just HAPPENS to be a Morman church right by it. She was very religious but I don't recall if she was Morman. Cause and manner of death is undetermined as far as I recall. Boy, that sound familiar doesn't it? Here is a link to an article that refers to a 300 page police report that I think we should all look at. She does have a thread here at WS but I got distracted away from it awhile ago. I'll look for a link.

I personally find it offensive that Chad and Lori Daybell attended an LDS church last week. It was grandstanding and distasteful.

The fact that they attend church, while blatantly flaunting requests from LEO to just verify that the children are alive, is beyond repugnant and their church attendance makes it appear that the LDS church supports their actions.

End the drama, show a picture of the children.

I kind of hope they are in contact with that church. We have seen many times religious leaders encouraging (and successfully) members of their flock to do the right thing and cooperate with LE, turn themselves in, etc.

That said, I agree with you lol. I think it was a stunt. They knew good and well the media was there.

I know this isn’t pertinent to anything but I can’t stop wondering. Are funeral potatoes reserved just for mourning or do people eat them all the time?
My brother-in-law (from Utah) brings his mamma' s recipe every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner he's invited too.

I think Brandon believes Melani left him (and tried to have him killed) because she joined a religious cult lead by Chad. That's what BB said in his interviews. So, yes, BB could have told the police about Chad from the beginning. He didn't need to know the extent of Lori and Chad's relationship to mention Chad to the police. MOO.

I know we can't sleuth Melani. But just looking at the life she had, and what she traded it for. Wowza! That cult is some powerful stuff.

Makes me wonder if Alex freaked out about the exhumation believing they would get caught so they eliminated him because they were afraid he couldn’t hold it together.
Even Tammy's father learned about the exhumation only after the fact. I doubt Alex had a source in the authorities involved. Also, Alex wasn't sleeping in the same house (or even room) as Tammy when she died and couldn't have walked in as he pleased.

Alex sure had some big changes in his life... After being Lori's hitman and fixer, she rewards him by arranging his marriage to (IMHO) a weird lady, and he is relegated to babysitting her two lil kick poodles and depressed, anxiety ridden 25 year old son who didn't even know who he was.

Poodles and babysitting? Can you refresh my memory? *on coffee #1* jmo

I wonder if he had been receiving visions of her death for quite a few months it maybe didn't take that much of a push for him to go to that next stage. Who knows? Something in her hot milk at bedtime to knock her out and pillow over her face could have done it. I wonder if the other occupant in the house witnessed the alleged coughing fit?

"Doing the right thing" actually requires a conscious. Which I am sure Lori doesn't have, Chad, maybe, but I doubt it. He was perfectly happy not working for years, oh, excuse me, he was writing books. Anyway, I doubt either one of them has any guilt or remorse.

Is talking about funeral potatoes considered to be discussing religion?

I wonder if the visions were more wishful thinking? They believe the dreams they have are prophecies as such. I’ve had some crazy dreams throughout my life, I can’t imagine thinking those could become real.

If they do believe in that it would only take a dream where he was with someone else and then LV flirting with him for him to think she was a better option/the next wife to be. TD and CD had been married a long time.

It’s possible that she was the one that kept him in line with his prophercies and gave him a bit more perspective. Maybe he got fed up of that and wanted some excitement in his life? It’s so hard to understand as it’s so extreme and far out there. It’s also hard to gauge how much their new cult beliefs played a part in this. Or was it just about money and sex?

I also wonder how much the other occupants in the house witnessed in regards to TDs demise. MOO
