Question for those who were at funeral or related services for Tammy (@RexburgSleuth @Randocalrissian ): Did Chad already have his "new" haircut then? I noticed he's sporting it in his Hawaiian wedding photos Nov 5. I'm wondering if he essentially left town and turned into a new person, or if he's had that haircut for a while and the original photos we saw of him were just outdated. I'm trying to wrap my head around how abruptly he changed after Tammy's death of if it was more gradual. Or perhaps the haircut changed in early Sept when LVD arrived? It might give us an inkling (albeit circumstantial) that they were seeing each other already, and whether or not he may know the actual details of the kids' whereabouts? Would love any insights.

That must be the day that Nate says Lori and Chad were caught on camera heading out with the their beach bags but turned around and went back inside the resort as soon as they saw the news crew. Nate told us about it but never published the video. I'm guessing he saved it for Dateline. If I'm correct, then that was back on Jan 28th and they are coming out of Kauai Marriott Resort. MOO.

I've been to the Kauai Marriott Resort a few times. That certainly looks like the sidewalk to the self parking lot. Odd that they are not using valet though, right?

I keep going back to the VI friend who said he wanted to be in the lime light and center of attention...I wonder how that feels now that you are trapped on an island away from your old life, parents, 5 kids and grandkids. He is being confronted by a familiar face in Nate asking questions. Was this all worth it? They know they are being featured on the news and talk shows and now a nice 2 hr Dateline. What is the tipping point? MOO

The Chad I thought I knew would be horrified to be seen negatively. I would think he would consider ending things if he saw no way out. But he does not seem to be the Chad I knew, so now I have no idea.

It wouldn't surprise me if he leaves her and goes back to his kids, claiming grief made him go out of his mind.

I suppose I hope this could be what happens. But then he has a lot of explaining to do to his children, Tammy’s family, and other family and friends. Depending on how much he knew, or even participated in whatever has happened to the many victims, I don’t see how that happens. Plus, he may be a threat to whoever else might have committed atrocities, and he would know what they are capable of doing. MHO.

There are a few plants in Hawaii that are extremely common and you can extract extremely powerful drugs from. One that comes to mind is Angel's trumpet (datura). You can make scopalamine, atropine, and various other drugs from it. One of those is belladona which paralyzes your pupils in the dilated state. It is also a poison.

I have it on my property. One day a few months ago I was working in the yard, mostly weedwhacking and chainsawing. I was wearing safety glasses. I felt a sting in my eye at one point like a bead of sweat got in my eye. My vision in that eye got blurred. I was almost done so I finished up, assuming it was just dirty sweat. I took a shower then looked in the mirror and quickly noticed one pupil was fully dilated and the other was normal. Differential dilation can be a sign of a serious head injury so I was briefly freaked out. I got a flashlight and checked my pupil response and that pupil was unresponsive to light. I vaguely remembered that belladona can do that and wondered if datura did as well. A little googling and I found medical reports about it. So I rinsed my eyes out and waited. It took about two days for everything to return to normal! My exposure would have been incidental because I was not working on a datura plant.

Symptoms of datura poisoning can include very dry throat, loss of balance and coordination, tachycardia, and it can lead to death. Wasn't Tammy coughing (dry throat), fell out of bed....

And here's the fun part - when bees make honey from datura flowers the honey contains the toxic compounds.

The plant is a common source of poisons used for suicide in Europe.

That's just one of literally millions of plant species here that could potentially yield an unusual poison. Given the knowledge of some of our POI's associates in areas like this, they could easily have extracted some novel compound that might not even be tested for.

If Chad (or Lori) was a regular in Hawaii they could easily have gotten ahold of some. It is an extremely common plant and grows wild all over the place.

According to Chad's friend Julie R., Chad supposedly wanted to get out of publishing business, once Tammy died. Which Chad expected for her to die, because he had visions of her dying (again, according to Julie R.)

I’ve mentioned this before. What JR said on her very self serving podcast, doesn’t seem very credible, like everything else JR has ever said or published. And even if Chad did say that to her, he could have been misleading her for his own strange purposes. And he could have also been trying to mislead me at Tammy’s burial, but he told me that he planned on being able to freely travel to support his book business now that Tammy’s dislike of traveling no longer mattered, starting in Hawaii. So maybe he intends to stop, and maybe not. But either way, he needs to make a living somehow, unless he has somehow come into some money some other way.

As for his publishing business, it was a family affair. He had his grown children help with recording audiobook readings of his books, and maybe other things. I was never aware of any other employees, and the business was operated primarily from their house, at least while they were in Utah.

He stopped posting on Jan 4th and hasn't logged back in since Jan 27th. I was thinking he was just keeping a low profile and stopped posting at the request of the rest of Tammy's family. I hope that's the case.

If the VI's are still following but just not saying much, I totally understand.
But selfishly, I hope they will post again and let us know they are alive and well.

I feel so physically ill reading this. The amount of anger we all have surrounding this case is just unexplainable.
My heart breaks for JJ and Tylee, that they were let down by every adult who has remained in their lives. And that every adult who kept their best interests at heart just disappeared, died.
Lori and Chad may be free now, but I hold out hope that they will be brought to justice at some point, I just don't know how...

Yep. I grew up hearing about jimsonweed, I think because it is toxic to cattle. But I don't think angels trumpet is. I live "mauka" in Hawaii, upslope from the ocean at about 1300 feet, much cooler and more humid so it thrives.

There are so many plants here with folk remedy stories. Angels trumpet is one of them. I've heard the Hawaiians somehow used it as a sea sickness remedy. Nowadays scopolamine is used the treat sea sickness. Go figure.

Let's not forget, it seems (NOT CONFIRMED) that he did something to his own wife. He has also *seemingly* been bullying his wife and family for years due to his "visions" - before LV ever entered his life. He has never been rational, by his own admittance. At best, he is an absolute *******. He's not some innocent little lamb being led around. LV and CD bring out the worst qualities in each other.

Maybe a dumb question, but if they were ordered to produce the children by a specific date and didn’t, why is that not a bigger issue? I don’t know a lot about laws surrounding something like that. There certainly seems to be other family members who are concerned and should have some sort of right to know, maybe not. I guess the other parent of both children are deceased?

Funny enough I’m vacationing in Maui this week, basically a coin flip type of decision and I could have been staying on that island this week instead.
