OMG! My partner's family lives on Maui and she is descended from the Maui kings. If Lori thinks she had a hard time on Kauai she is in for a big surprise. No threat, just Kauai is the gentle isle. Maui is the pummel-you isle! So much more I could say but I would give away too much personal information. Suffice it to say that if they are really heading to Maui I don't think their stay will be long or pleasant. I'm gonna send a couple of texts and make popcorn!

Maybe that's her plan... Perhaps she's tired of Chad already and is looking to get Maui'd again!

Ever heard of "don't cut your nose to spite your face." If kids are in school or whatever, all she has to do is show proof to LE. KW and LW won't have access to kids because they are not guardians. So why exactly wouldn't she have done that? Also, she didn't need to hide Tylee to spite KW and LW.

Yes I have heard of that term of course and it describes what she is doing. That is what she did when Charles was killed. She thought she would get the life insurance but didnt. She is not that bright and did not think to check that beforehand. Regarding Tylee and Jj, they are brother and sister, so I think they are together safe somewhere. She doesn't want them to have JJ as well as the money. How is it spiting herself anyway? She has already lost the life insurance money, so probably doesn't care. This is not someone who makes logical decisions that we are talking about here.

Actually not a silly question... But before we get to probate...

Lori doesn't have a lot of money, in fact, she is probably deeply, deeply in debt. But she has a lot of ability to take on that debt, and that's what counts.

Chad's probably in the same boat, by the way.

So the real question isn't, " How does Lori have money," it's, " Who thinks Lori has money and what made them have confidence in that fact?"

IMHO... I have never thought any of these folks have "real" money... CD and TD's property ownership is extremely modest, and LVd-- all rentals, constant moving, BUT why all the fancy cars, and why the $$$ flow now. My forever question...Where's the money?

BBM It used to be affordable to live in Springville. The prices went up a lot in the last five years, after the Daybells moved. That said, selling in Springville and moving north of Rexburg would have been financially advantageous.

They sold the Springville house to TD's parents....so assume they didn't "make a killing" there.

Farfetched here...and obviously MOO--but one thought had occurred to me that maybe she was leaving that stuff in the storage unit to be picked up by someone to take to the kids if in hiding... I can see the over-the-top pain of keeping the dog...but all the stuff left in the storage unit was usable childrens' stuff.

Regarding why she didn’t save photo album:
I assume she didn’t save her baby pictures because she isn’t sentimental about her children. IMHO

It is very likely they are all digitized already IMO. Maybe she will have someone pick them up for her. She only has to call the storage place and pay the bill if she wants to keep them. If she had really not wanted the stuff, why put it in storage anyway?

I've literally seen people use storage units as "dumpsters". Paying a month's rent, fill it with trash, and walk away. Cheaper than a real dumpster, I guess.

The only time I've used them is when we were moving. We needed to get our house ready to stage and sell and the one we were moving to was being remodeled still.

I don't see either of these options applying.

Other reasons to use storage units?

There really is no point to it, they have zero standing for custody. And they really have zero standing for even having contact or phone calls. But, I agree, Lori did it for control. She could, so she did.

That still doesn't explain Tylee's disappearance.

But, after hearing what a great Mother Lori was, it fits with narcissism. She was a good Mother, for herself, so other people would say how awesome she was. The child is an extension of her, so if the child has any flaws, isn't pretty enough, smart enough, whatever, it is useless to the narcissistic. Useless.

At this point, the only reason that stuff is still there is the active investigation. Usually after units are confiscated, the contents are auctioned off. It's a big business here.
