I was impressed with the following news story because it seemed to me to offer a whole lot of information in one meal, so I decided to parse various pieces of information for consideration:
http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2009/aug/01/missing-boy-8-may-be-hurt-police-tell-searchers/
PARSING - I provide a phrase from the story and then a bracketed comment. MOO on all below
- So far, police say there are no arrests or suspects in the case. Investigators were seen taking an SUV and other items during the search of Jenkins apartment Thursday night.
[note - an SUV would be a means of transporting a body from the apartment to the NYCanal without suspicion]
- Jenkins has been at previous press conferences, but didnt attend Friday. Police wouldnt say where she was.
[an extremely suspicious action considering the fact that both she and her boyfriend attended all previous ones]
- The boy was visiting her the night he disappeared.
[the fact that the boy was visiting "her" and not her boyfriend would be an occasion where it wouldn't be off to think that she took the night off from her evening cleaning because it was a special occasion, her kid was visiting for the weekend]
- Court records show a history of family tragedies involving young children.
[no comment necessary imo]
- Jenkins pleaded guilty in March to a misdemeanor charge of injury to a child following an October 2008 incident that fractured her infant sons skull.
[it was Jenkins, not the boyfriend, who was responsible for this, clearly showing that she has "control" issues, perhaps induced by drugs and/or alcohol, something that a Friday evening celebration with the visit of Robert may well have brought about. However, it is also clear from this report that the boyfriend had control issues, it just isn't so specifically related to hitting children]
- Jenkins did willfully inflict the injury to her other son by striking the childs head on a surface, causing a fracture to the childs skull, on Oct. 19, 2008. She was sentenced to 29 days of work release, fined $75.50 and put on probation for two years, according to court documents.
[indicates that Jenkins, not the boyfriend, had very recent problems with control issues, Oct being less than a year ago]
- That child is the son of Jenkins boyfriend, Daniel Edward Ehrlick.
[Yes, the child belonged -for lack of a more appropriate word - to the boyfriend, but it was Jenkins who lost her temper and control and inflicted the injury, demonstrating a clear lack of control]
- Jenkins has a third child, a 2-year-old daughter fathered by a third man, who has custody of her. Jenkins has visitation rights.
[further indication that Jenkins has extreme control issues, even though the details are not specified]
- Ehrlick, who has been convicted of burglary, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia, is banned from being alone with the girl, but court documents dont say why.
[this clearly indicates that the boyfriend has issues of his own, and it would be very informative to know exactly why he is being banned from access with the above little girl. He does not appear to have any public record of violence toward a child, purely from lack of posts relative to this, so the major trouble relative to violence against a child seems to be more focused on Jenkins at this time -- however, I would like to learn more on why the boyfriend is banned from being alone with the little girl, that would help immensely in any further determination. Does this ban relate to actions perpetrated against the child or just his general felony record? One thing remains clear, though, Jenkins' history is a proven threat to children. If violence alone is determined by autopsy, and sexual abuse does not play a role, then to me that would be more reason to draw attention to Jenkins rather than Ehrlick as the major perpetrator of the crime who may well have been responsible for hiding a crime of his girlfriend and using that SUV -- bad enough, for sure
-Charles Manwills former wife stabbed their 4-year-old son, Michael, in the chest in 1993, killing him. Silke
Fatma Manwill pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, was sentenced to federal prison and released in 2002. This is extreme dysfunction and leads far far away from any stranger being responsible, imo
My suggestion is that Jenkins lost control, for whatever reason [perhaps a real argument with Robert about going to a party], and the boyfriend used the SUV to transport Robert to his temporary resting place.
This is a horrible crime, no matter what, and, as others have already said, RIP Robert.
