Wonder what they're hiding.....
They aren't necessarily hiding anything. They probably have their hands full. It appears that public's help isn't needed at this time. We'll hear about the case next when it comes to court.

Well if the news isn't going to give us any further info, the IDCourts site will at least say this...

CS has been charged with Death-Fail to Notify or Delay Notification of Death and Evidence-Destruction, Alteration or Concealment.

She is to have these conditions:
1. No contact with any minor under age 18 years
2. Restricted movement (Remain in State/County)
3. Electronic Monitoring

There is a motion hearing set for tomorrow at 9:30am (4/27/21) and a preliminary hearing set for a week from today (5/3/21) at 3pm.

There are *a lot* of results for the name CS. Still trying to weed through about 9 pages of court records for a moderately generic name to see if any additional charges for this particular CS have been filed, but I think they'll all be associated with the same case number (CR23-21-0482).

I hope that tomorrow's hearing will reveal some more information.

MOO.

I agree. I think the Sheriff's office is most likely being tasked with inquiries following social media rumors and they're putting it out that they're not talking.

I think the coroner's report and toxicology results will eventually give them factual information for another statement and we'll have to wait until then.

Also, I believe that others with answers are probably not talking -- making LE work for the details (i.e., developing probable cause to obtain the same).

Emmett woman charged in Taryn Summers case back in court | ktvb.com

In court Tuesday, Judge Tyler Smith heard a motion to grant Connie Smith a public defender. The judge questioned Smith about her income and property.

Smith told the judge she owned her home on Airport Road, worth around $200,000, but did have a medical lien she estimated was approximately $8,000. She claimed to have no income. She also owns a truck and an older motorcycle.

The judge appointed her a public defender subject to reimbursement.

Her next court appearance is set for 3 p.m. on May 3. Currently, Smith is in the Gem County Jail with bond set at $800,000.

She'll be awaiting trial from her jail cell, I expect.

Former Ada County sheriff gives insight over Emmett investigation | KBOI (idahonews.com)
[...]

"There’s an old saying for a criminal act, you need to have a person, location, and the opportunity. So when it comes to the person in this case because it’s a family member, it’s going to likely be very complicated," said Gary Raney, who spent several years as Ada County's sheriff.

[...]

"There’s a time where you need to not say anything, you’re going to be able to collect all the evidence and then there’s times when you want community outreach to see if somebody knows something more," Raney said.

[...]

“You know the truth does eventually come out, that'll come out in the court process or hopefully when their investigations finalized, and more information will be shared with the community at ease."

Moore also reached out to the Gem County Coroner's office asking if there was any information available about the cause and time of Summers death. The coroner did not have any comments or specify when the report will be released.

If that propeety is worth $200,00.00 then there must be some acreage that goes with it. IMO.

No income and she got to keep all of those kids? Weird.

Maybe not having a job allowed her to be available to take care of the kids (not that we have indication she took care of them).

[..]

Investigators found a body believed to be that of missing 8-year-old Taryn Summers April 15. Deputies have yet to publicly identify the suspect in the case but a probable cause affidavit points to Smith, the grandmother of the child.

The affidavit states that investigators responded to the residence of Smith in Emmett, whom they identify as the grandmother of the child referred to as “T.S."

The preliminary hearing was rescheduled for 2 p.m. May 25 at the request of Smith and her defense council, according to Gem County Prosecuting Attorney Erick B. Thomson.

i wonder whether they think someone else is involved (maybe the car owner) thats why she isnt currently charged w murder? or its a case of what evidence can prove.
I think bail at $800K and Court's refusal to lower it tells all...
