I do not think the intruder has a psychosis or any sort of personality disorder other than being quite self centered yet socially withdrawn. I think his interests involve adult females but his abilities do not.

I agree with you on this. DNA technology is advancing by leaps and bounds. The recent breakthrough that enables science to trace a person's ethnic background by percentages from just one sample of DNA is an indication of things to come.

Unfortunately, if my theory about JonBenet's murder is close to being correct, the new technology will NEVER be used on the Ramsey case. Certain Boulder authorities already know who did it and have confessions from them. It involves children who are shielded by Colorado law and court protective orders to keep their identities secret.

The case was solved by the GJ in 1999 but the information cannot be made public without violating the law and the court's order. Keenan and Carnes and selected other people know the truth but are forced to play the "intruder" game to shield the names of the children.

Just guessing-withinin 25 years the DNA will be matched up to it's depositor, but not through a criminally based database. In the future Big Brother will have a DNA database to instantly provide social, medical, and financial identification. Criminal linkage will just be a bonus side effect.

The 25 years is variable but it's within Burke's lifespan.

And of course there will be computer programs to play with that can generate profiles from mere picture portraits.

Yes, we're headed in the Big Brother direction. Advancements in DNA technology and other identification methods will bring crime under control in the U.S., but at the cost of personal freedom. And in the future it will likely solve the JonBenet murder if allowed to be used (since,IMO, children are involved).

Sadly, despite surrendering our freedoms, it won't help much to solve the worst crimes facing America in the future -- mass murders against Americans by religious crazies.

I sometimes wonder if the perp reads the forums or even posts on the forums. If so, I wonder what stance he would take?

Would he be likely to accuse the Ramseys and draw attention away from himself?

Or would he want to seem clever and post pro-intruder?

I don't have much experience of criminal psychology, but I have read of real-life situations where a criminally minded person just couldn't resist being clever and ended up drawing attention to himself as a result. One case that comes to mind immediately was of a supermarket terrorist who was tampering with food and making ransom demands from the supermarket. He was active for (I think) a couple of years and he started sending letters to the police taunting them about their failure to apprehend him. Eventually he gave himself away.

What do posters think about the Ramsey perp? How do you thnk he would post? I think much would depend on the real psychology behind the murder.

Did he kill for the thrill of the kill? - In which case he might want to avoid detection so that he could kill again. This killer might post anti-Ramsey in order to divert attention from himself.

Did he kill out of hatred for the Ramseys - in which case he might consider himself to be cleverer than them and maintain an obsession with the crime itself. This perp might want to show how clever he is by dropping in the occasional piece of inside knowledge under the guise of insight.

Anyone have any knowledge of criminal profiling?

I'd be particularly interested to hear from Barbara on this because Barbara has a good knowledge of psychology.

PS - I think it has to be assumed that the perp is an intruder for this exercise (or does it?)

I was reading through some old threads,and came across this one. Some of the posts were funny,some absurd,and others VERY interesting!

So I thought it would be fun to bump this thread a year and a half later,to see what some of the posters feel today ... do you think the perp has posted and lurked here,and what do you think they would say?

An Aside: I must admit,looking back at some of the earlier threads,I regret not coming into WS sooner ... it was certainly lively in the eary days!!!!
