I am currently "watching" two trials by restricted media or tweets. Frustrating, to say the least. This one, as it's close to my home, and the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. Thanks in advance for posting what limited info is put out there. I appreciate it all!

JUST IN: Special Prosecutor Dan Webb is addressing the jury. "(Smollett) developed a secret plan that would make it appear that there was actually a hate crime that actually occurred against him by supporters of Donald Trump."
Webb says Smollett's phony report was not only a crime but a dispicible act "to denigrate something as serious as a hate crime and then just report one occurred when it didn’t occur."
Webb says Smollett was upset that the "Empire" studio had not reacted more strongly to a hate letter sent to him in January 2019. So he hired to Osundairo brothers to orchestrate the entire thing, Webb says. "In a nutshell that’s what happened in this case."
Webb says Chicago police "reacted swiftly" to Smollet's allegation, putting the "full force" of the department on the case. At one point they had 26 officers and detectives working it, tallying over 3,000 man hours, Webb says.

Webb is now introducing the star witnesses, the Osundairo brothers, telling jurors, "You’re going to get to know them. You're gonna hear a lot about them." He says they both were aspiring actors and extras on "Empire" ... Bola Osundairo became good friends with Jussie.

After Smollett got the letter, Smollett sent Bola the now infamous text asking for help "on the low," Webb says. The two met and took a ride together. Smollett turned to Bola and said he was upset at "Empire" and wanted him to "fake beat me up."
