Where is the bath story coming from? I couldn't find any msm articles mentioning bath story.

It was in the first article posted where the mom gives her account of the fire. She said she was preparing to get in the tub with her niece. It was posted yesterday I think.

I'm not saying stuff was normal their but they could have been on a different schedule. If kids sleep later or take naps they might stay up later. Kyle at 8 would be the one that would have school and could be more affected by late nights.

They mention him showing up at a relatives house saying his house was on fire. Is there a way a kid could walk away from a furnace issue without burns? Is it something he could have found directions for online. Fire isn't predictable and a 9 year blowing up furnace seems less. It's why you tell kids to be careful around fireworks.

I'm thinking he lit the place on fire and the fire hit the furnace?

It's impossible to say he's rehabilitated and all is well even in his 30's. Or later. What if someone comes in between Kyle and a girlfriend ?

Eta: If Kyle did this with intent.
Although the mom with no injuries or any marks after being knocked unconscious by the 'boom' ... the whole story sounds fishy.

Maybe he confessed to the police that he'd doused it with lighter fluid ?
I'm trying to think of an accelerant that would be common in a household like theirs?

He is 9. He's not convicted yet and raised by a man that hit his baby daughter on camera.

First bolded So, the stepdad/boyfriend was still awake. Did he not notice the 9 year old sneaking around-- possibly with a container of lighter fluid or a gas can ?
It looks like a single wide trailer and with that many people living there, it was crowded.
Second bolded -- So, the mom threw on her clothes, I'm assuming she was naked. With the moms' sister's two year old.
You don't have to get in the bath with a toddler to bathe them.
Watch them so they don't drown and maybe help with rinsing their hair.
Just seems odd.

You wouldn't bath with a kid if you were cleaning them off. At least in my experience.

No offense. But you probably don't understand what growing up in a household with mentally ill, drug addicted people are like. It is absolute survival. No matter what. Children learn how to lie, as easily as telling the truth. Lying becomes survival.

The problem is that in the "real" world, that maladaptive behavior is diagnosed as a "pathological disorder" that needs treatment. It is not recognized as a defense mechanism.

Who knows? Was this child setting a fire in retaliation for being abused? Was this really a reaction for self defense, in his mind? We don't know.

I think the point is that not all children who are abused become psychopaths. In fact I would venture to guess that few do.

And I don't think most children are even wrongly diagnosed as such due to maladaptive coping mechanisms.

I think it sounds off. I don't know much about furnaces. Does Kyle or his mom have any sign of being burnt? Maybe the stepfather was the target of one of them.

Per his own mother, he's got schizophrenia, bipolar and ADHD. And all that at 9. Those diseases don't get better with age as far as I can tell.

Doesn't sound good to me either. But he is too young to be incarcerated. Even if convicted of murder, the worse he is facing is probation because of his age.

If you put the volume up on the video, you hear Kyle say to his mom "Tell him not to do that again. I'm videoing this and I'm going to post it online."

IMO the video is chilling. The little girl is laying on the floor doing nothing and he grabs her and slaps her hard twice, watching her as she cries. Just watching her, no emotion. Then he apparently grabs the other baby and the video ends. If that's what he does in front of his wife while his step son is recording a video, what does he do in private?

On Facebook his profile says he has a girlfriend and two kids. Not three kids, not two kids and a great step son, but two kids. It also says he was a stay-at-home dad. So no job, just home with these babies he slaps unprovoked all day.

Exactly. And if he thinks that's appropriate to do to a small baby for whatever perceived wrong the innocent child did, what do we think he would feel was appropriate discipline for an 8 or 9 year old step son who did something he felt was wrong?

You wouldn't know what I experienced but saying kids that are abused become sociopaths is a broad term that covers a lot of kids. It's not accurate and it would define them too early in life. Surviving doesn't make someone a sociopath.

I agree. I think it's true that almost all psychopaths were abused or experienced trauma of some sort but most kids who were abused absolutely do not become psychopaths or sociopathic.

I agree though with @mickey2942 that kids who act out in a violent manner usually come from intense dysfunction.
