Great job and congrats to all the detectives, law enforcement, etc. with the recent arrest of the Golden State killer. The advancement with forensics/DNA continues to allow for more "scum bags" to be put away. I've heard/read about 4 cold cases >20 years old in the last 1-2 years that have been solved as a result of DNA testing. Does anyone know if any of the evidence from where Debbie was found was ever tested? If I recall, her books, etc. were thrown out of the car. Obviously, someone handled Debbie's personal items. The ridiculous statement provided by LS and/or Chapski about the mounted duck that Debbie had used that day(?) at school for show & tell; LS supposedly hauled chickens in his car/trunk. As if duck and chicken feathers are the same?? Another load of "crappy crap crap"/B*^L S^#T!!

FWIW, DNA on Debbie's books really wouldn't be sufficient. Anyone she had contact with at the school, whether that be staff or student, could be explained away by contact through normal daily activity.
Now if there was a way to determine if any of Debbie's DNA was on items found in LS's car that might prove beneficial.
We don't know what evidence the DPCSO has....but technology is growing leaps and bounds almost daily.
IANAL, but if I understand it correctly familial DNA can be used by LE by way of the genealogy databases because persons who submit DNA know the information is public. Familial DNA can not be compared in LE databases such as CODIS. We'll see where that leads, it could certainly open a lot of doors for tons of cases.

Thanks for the info/update Cubby. Seems like a great deal of evidence in LS's car was overlooked (purposefully??); including Chapki's defense on Debbie's boots being the same size as LS's wife MAS. WHAT A JOKE!! I realize that Grand Jury files and records are kept sealed, and unavailable to the public. What about "Open Records/FOIA" requests with the DPCSO?
It's very nice to hear from you Zachman on Debbie's WS "site". If I recall, Debbie had 2 brothers, and 2 sisters; with Debbie being the oldest. I hope that you/your Mom can continue to follow this, and maybe introduce Debbie's "site" to other family relatives.

Just think, what's really cool about this genealogical DNA is that family members can contribute to possibly rule out a poi or suspect. Ah, the joys of putting ones money where their mouth is.

I hope all three and/or the family members of all three will voluntarily submit DNA to move this case closer to resolution. I also hope family members of Richard Otto Macek will voluntarily submit DNA to bring closure to the possibility of RM being responsible for any unsolved cases.

WOW X 50!! I'm speechless. The obit seems a little "fabricated"; although, his age is correct, the names of his children seem correct, his youngest daughter Joanne is actually buried at St. Catherine's. 35-40% of his life is excluded/not mentioned (i.e. parents, college, where he grew up, lived/worked in KC, other brothers/sister) - FOR OBVIOUS REASONS!! Family plot?? I know his mother EKS is also buried at SCCemetery. JS drowned in Canada, body never found. His wife MAS is not buried at SCC. LS made some donations to S C Church (2006 & 2007?). Religious Education Coordinator?? Sounds good, nice title. Hmm...…….. I doubt anything will change with the DPCSO and Debbie's case, unless someone/someplace knows something and now feels they can "safely" come forward. I feel absolutely nothing for LS, but feel very sad & horrible for Debbie. Oops, I guess I wasn't speechless. How long have you, Helpful 1, known about Debbie's unsolved case? Thank you for posting.
No mention of LS in the "Pray for the Sick" section(s) of the St. Catherine's C bulletin(s) for the last 4-6 weeks; although I only did a quick glance. No mention of LS as R Ed. Coordinator. I realize LS's death is recent - ?? where he died. I don't think anyone but "family members" can apply for a death cert.(?). Hmm...….. I'm clueless.
OT, but the funeral home couldn't get his name right? One link lists Francis, the other Franklin.
Anyhoo, I've seen cases deemed solved and closed after a suspect dies. I don't recall any in Illinois, but I have seen that done in other states. Solving a case and prosecuting a case aren't always done together.... Time will tell what, if anything, DPCSO does.

It now appears, since yesterday (06/04/18), that the Olsen Funeral/Cremation Services obit. for LS (Franklin/Francis?) was "amended". I now see that his brothers and sister were added. Hmm......….Then again, maybe I "glossed" over it when I read it.

Dittos and thank you Cubby. "ALL very strange" (i.e. Francis/Franklin, died May or June, no parents of LS shown in obit., "preceded in death by his brother in law Phil" - Phil W. (?) was added; as was "beloved companion, Colleen Jones" AFTER first obit. Maybe in the next few days, some "updated" information will be posted.
