I have to respectfully disagree. LOTS of DV's end in gun violence. :(

I wasn't going to share this. . .but here seems like the appropriate place. There was a shooting directly in front of my house on Sunday night. There is a rental house at the end of the block. I left to go to the grocery store around 7pm and came back to about 8 police cars parked on the front of our street.

The story is there was arguing out on the street and a woman was walking with a toddler by one hand and pushing a baby in a stroller with the other. A man with a beer bottle was following her. He pulled a gun and pointed it at her. . .and she started running. . best she could with two little kids. And then he pointed the gun in the air and fired. She was yelling at neighbors to go back in their houses because "He's going to kill someone tonight!" They are the renters from the end of the block. He just got back from a tour in Afghanistan. I know for a fact that he had been drinking all day, because I drove by him and his near empty 40 ouncer at about noon. He waved at me.

I'm still a little freaked out because he has yet to be apprehended and I'm positive he was at that house today. It's been empty since the incident, but he was there today. He's a loose cannon. As my neighbor said. PTSD, heavy drinking and fire arms do not mix!

Please don't bash me for jumping to conclusions here about soldiers. I live in a highly populated military area. I have worked with disabled vets. I don't know if Jacob is the perp or a victim here, but we can't ignore the possibilities. It's a travesty what is happening to these young men.

Sorry for being so long winded! My point was that just because a gun was used does not mean it wasn't a crime of passion. There are too many DV cases where a gun is the weapon of choice. . . .AND we can't ignore that we might have a young soldier here dealing with issues that he never asked for. :(

Because of where I live, I worry about all these young guys coming back. It's an entire generation. We have failed them. That needs to change.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. There are many DV cases where guns are used. I just think in many cases where women are killed in an attack by a lover, we see strangulation or knife attacks. Three shots to the head seems like something else in this case. I suppose I am speculating that Wheeler didn't commit this murder...I think Ms. Evans was shot cold-blooded style, three times in the head by a criminal--perhaps a person involved in drug production or someone making a point.

The fact that Wheeler was a former soldier does make for an interesting angle. But my gut instinct says he didn't do it. But the Lord knows I've been wrong before....

Well, the window for the crime is narrowed if she contacted her mom after midnight and was reported missing shortly after she failed to report for work a few hours later.

Three shots to the head is an execution...IMO.

There ya go GateKeeper...that's the word I was looking for: execution.
Unless Wheeler snapped, I don't think he did this crime.

There are two crime scenes that are two miles apart. One scene is a campsite where the two went fishing Saturday.

I missed this before. They must have found something at the campsite. A sign of a struggle? Evidence of Jessica being shot? Extra set of footprint(s)? Could be something, could be nothing....

The article below contains some speculations that they might have stumbled onto a meth lab. I think that is very speculative and if both were killed then why were they not put together in the back of the truck?

Another scenario could be that Jacob killed Jessica but then why put her in the back of the truck and run on foot? Why not hide the body and use the truck to run?

If he escaped from the attackers then why has he not been found?

I do think one or more others are involved. Jacob has either been taken or is on the run with another person. The other(s) having their own vehicle.

Either way, there are too many questions for now.

Did any of you guys read this article? I usually can't get disclosure articles to open but this one worked for some reason. I think it is extremely tacky of the "disclosure" to put a full length picture of Wheeler's wife at the top of the article. I mean really!!!! They were separated... what does this have to do with her? I am not speaking ill of the "wife" at all but this is about Jacob Wheeler and Jessica Evans. Please don't throw rocks at me but MOO
TACKY TACKY TACKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also noticed that Scorekeeper about the "two crime scenes"... hmmm

Two crime scenes...
We have no idea where she was shot.
Would the camp site be considered a crime scene if there was no evidence of a struggle, shooting?
Has there been any mention of other tire tracks near the abandoned truck?

I don't know. It seems strange that if Jake murdered her, he would just leave her in the back of the truck and leave on foot

Why take the keys... unless it is just habit

And it seems someone took the time to cover her body with leaves
If you are going to abandon the truck, why bother?
Unless you were driving with her back there...

Evans’ autopsy earlier today showed that she was shot in the head three times. There did not appear to be signs of a fight or struggle, and apparently, there was no evidence that she was sexually assaulted in any way

Which means there’s one dead, one missing…and one (or more) killer(s) out there. So please take precautions.

Was it 1 mile or 2? Original media reports state 1 mile. Where did the 2 mile come into play?

  • #151
It was also reported that their campsite is near Jacob's parents house, not like right by it or anything, but in the vicinity. That implies they chose that area to camp/fish bc they're familiar with it. So, re the campsite: Were they using a tent? Or the back of his truck?

Re the missing keys: Since they weren't in the truck, it's assumed that maybe they're with Jacob, probably in his pocket. Jessica was located with 3 gunshot wounds to her head & in the back of the truck. The truck went over an embankment. She had branches over her body.

Ok, since the keys are missing, were the truck doors locked? Was the gear in Neutral?

If the doors were locked & the gear was in Park, that to me suggests that the truck was parked & pushed over the side of the road. Were there any skid marks?

If it's where they were fishing, somebody could have happened upon them & killed both of them. It bothers me that the keys weren't in the truck. If Jacob did this, why wouldn't he have left the keys in the truck?

Could somebody have used a boat?

Shot 3 times in the head... Did Jessica have a boyfriend before she started dating Jacob? If so, how long was that relationship? Was it serious?

Jessica was a senior in high school. She was 17. I see many many many 17 y/o girls dating 21-24 y/os. I think it's much more common than some may think. There's nothing illegal about it.

However, camping out overnight? Calling her mom after midnight saying she just caught a fish? The mom said she sounded happy, like she was having a good time.

Call after midnight Sat night + having to be at her babysitting job by 5:00-5:30am Sunday morn = a specific time frame for this crime. Certainly narrows the tod.

Re: 2 crime scenes being camp site & where truck was found. Was there alcohol at the campsite?

I'd like to know if Jessi had an ex bf that may have been jealous over her new relationship...

Maybe I misunderstood, I think she had to be at her babysitting job Monday morning. When she didn't show up, they began looking for her. I'll go back and read again.

Early in the investigation, police concentrated their search on two areas. The first location was a campsite the two were believed to have stayed Saturday night. The second location – a mile south of the campsite – is where the truck was discovered.

"We believe now there was only one crime scene," McVey said. "And that was where the truck was found with her body in the back."
