I wouldn't know why else part of bumper would be missing and then found with blood on it...

I'm so sad at the outcome of this, but I suspected this would be the case. I will pray for their families. I'm relieved that Jacob retains his honor however. Too many assume the worst of our veterans (general statement not directed at anyone). My husband and I both suffer from PTSD and we haven't killed anyone. Nor have any of our friends. I know I am passionate when it comes to cases involving our military members and veterans (perps and victims alike) and it is because I want to dispell the stereotype of the crazy PTSD addled Veteran. In this case especially there were no signs pointing to this and yet it was still speculated. May Jacob and Jessi reast in peace and their families get justice for them.

OK, before I go, one more piece of info. This is from my mother, and has not come from official channels. But I'm pretty sure it's accurate, and since everything is being confirmed now, I think it's OK to post. I'm going to edit some names, though.


K (my father) called G (a co-worker of my father). Since they live in Carmi, he figured they had already heard it. G went to High School with the guy that confessed.
He's been in their radar since day 1. His license plate (bumper, actually) had fallen off his truck while he was down there at the river with them and the cops had it. I guess they kept questioning him and he finally broke down and confessed.




It gets weirder. G said that a few weeks ago he and your Dad were working with a crew of electricians on a job down there somewhere and the killer was one of them. Your dad remembers the job but doesn't specifically remember the guys that were working there.

So my dad worked with this guy...wow.

It doesn't even seem from the above map that the kids were near or on his property.

I have noticed that you try to have such a positive outlook when giving ideas...

That is such a help to balance out the sadness and horror we see/feel when reading these cases!

And when I feel I am not helping...

I remember what lead me to have the courage to sign up at the start..

That there are families of missing/murdered people that read these threads... and see that their loved ones are still remembered, and still have people honoring them!

Either that or he shot him while he was near the bumper and he took the bumper off and tried to hide it as well. Coston's divorced. I wonder if Jake had been out with this X and he took offense.

If true he staged the scene with a suicide note, etc as stated above by baseball, then the guy is a freaking idiot.

Such a tragedy. Two young adults gone and if the perp has children...they now have no father to speak of. Some people are just poison.

Prayers and love to the Evans, Wheeler and Coston families.

wow...have just caught up....a 3rd party hey.....I am at a loss to even guess what a motive could be here, but am wondering if the bumper had blood on it, he hit jacob with the vehicle, I wonder if it was before or after he killed Jessica....ie he may have hit Jacob with the vehicle accidentally (??) and then shot Jessica because she was screaming or similar....

The other way sounds awful, that he came upon the two of them, shot Jessica, Jacob ran and he ran him down with the truck....

what the hell would make you do something like this??

Also hello to the poster from Australia, I too feel useless sometimes being on the other side of the world, however sometimes when everyone is asleep we can post and look for info...

It also is such a valuable insight into what is really going on in the world out there.

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims. It's just heartbreaking. Any case that begins with a murdered girl cannot have a good ending, so there was never any hope for that. The killer is behind bars, and as wonderful as that is, it doesn't seem like enough.
