Crystal Lake man reported missing - Chicago Sun-Times

A 27-year-old man has been reported missing from Crystal Lake in the northwest suburbs.

• “We do not suspect Jon’s disappearance was the result of foul play; however, we share in his family’s concern for his well-being,” police said.
• Jon is 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds.

Police asked anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to call detectives at (815) 356-3620.

Update: Crystal Lake Police Continue to Search for Missing Adult/Last Known Location in Chicago

The Crystal Lake Police Department, in our constant efforts to locate Jon Chung, developed information through the review of video footage that confirms he boarded a Metra train in Crystal Lake on March 16, 2021, and arrived at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago at approximately 4:20pm on the same day (image below). We are working with the appropriate authorities in Chicago to determine whether additional video footage exists that would demonstrate Jon Chung’s movements after he arrived in Chicago. We still do not suspect his disappearance was the result of foul play but nonetheless seek the public’s assistance with any information they may be able to provide that will aid in finding Jon Chung.

Also, a slight correction to Jon Chung’s original physical description: Jon is approximately 5’8” to 5’10”, not 6’0” tall.

He was last seen on March 16, 2021. Family members described Jon as being 6’0” tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has olive skin, brown eyes and brown and blonde hair. A recent picture of Jon has been attached below.

We encourage anyone who may have information relating to the whereabouts of Jon to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620. Mother reported this is highly unusual behavior.

Through police investigation it was learned subject was last seen on 03/16/2021 at Union Station in Chicago boarding a train destined for Moynihan Station in New York City.

Welcome, @usr2 and thanks for highlighting the discrepancy. Crystal Lake PD posted the update about John's last known location at Ogilvie Transportation Center on 31 March. That post has not been updated since and I haven't found any new posts about Jon on CLPD's FB page. His NamUs profile was created on 23 April. Perhaps there was an update to Jon's case but the information hasn't been shared on the FB page or MSM. There is also the possibility that the Union Station information on his NamUs profile is incorrect (it happens at times). Oddly enough though, his sister (M.R.) posted the flyer above as recently as 8 June. I wonder which is correct? I'll ask around and see what I can find. Thanks again!

That is very strange. I've never been to Union Station and the floor tiles in the second picture seem to be from Oglivie Station. Perhaps someone should contact NamUs and get this information corrected.

Thanks - I'm looking at the FB link provided here and there's nothing about being in the military (granted, I just went back 3 years). Lots of partying, smoking, and drinking. His parents have to be so worried.

I imagine police checked Amtrak video too. Anyone know? Union Station is also Chicago's Amtrak Station. It's a very short walk from Ogilvie to Union Station/Amtrak.
