IL - July 4 Parade, Highland Park, at least 6 fatally shot, 4 July 2022 *son charged, dad guilty*

This is a good article, an interview with some online friends, some background on the SS thing. It states that symbol the shooter uses is also 'used by the Finnish far-right faction Suomen Sisu.'

If his friends in this Discord group are racist/white supremacists, they're not going to admit it to the news media. Of course they'll deny it. The reality is that Crimo hung out with these people, engaged in these kinds of communications and ended up stalking a synagogue and killing and wounding a bunch of innocent people. Doesn't sound like a coincidence. SS is a common symbol used in far right groups.

Covelli said that Crimo had purchased as many as five weapons, including the AR-15-style rifle that was allegedly used in the attack, legally from dealers in the Chicago area in 2020 or 2021. A second, high-powered rifle was in Crimo’s car at the time of his arrest.

How is it the dad and son can afford to spend a lot of money on these weapons, but their home is in pre-foreclosure?

Well, "first things first" it seems for some people.

This gets back to poor judgement, lack of discipline and self awareness (basics of adult maturity). Seems like it’s been going on for a few decades .

More than one property. One parent lives at one and another parent lives at another

BBM

Has anyone seen any proof or verification of this? I'll admit I'm not up on all this social media stuff - being an influencer, vloger, rapper - whatever they call themselves. I know some of them have you tube channels and they get paid by advertisers who approach them because of the number of followers they have - the advertisers pay them to let them insert ads into their content. But I don't know how all of it works.

If he was being paid for this dark, twisted, nasty stuff he was posting - who was paying him? Maybe, somehow, these companies advertising can be pressured into NOT supporting this kind of stuff. IDK

I'd just like to know who was paying him and for what and how much.

Weird that the father was storing *his* knives in BC closet for “safekeeping”. So the police gave the knives back to his father . I wonder if he safely stored them in a different location that BC wasn’t privy to.

"Additionally and importantly, the father claimed the knives were his, and they were being stored in the individual’s closet for safekeeping," state police said. "Based upon that information, the Highland Park Police returned the knives to the father later that afternoon."

He also worked at Panera at some point, but not sure when and for how long, according to MSM interview with young woman who worked with him, posted earlier on this thread.

Just for clarification, here in Chicagoland yesterday the temps were in the upper 80's with very high humidity. Crimo is wearing long sleeves and a bandana/scarf covering his neck.....but he/she didn't stand out?
I live in the deep south 90 + degree days with unbelievable humidity and people here ware long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts ect with shorts some say it keeps them cooler by wicking away the moisture. I'm a northerner I don't get it, I peel the layers off the deeper we get into summer,

This piece of info about "the knives being stored for safe keeping in perp's closet" caused my poor eyes rolling so hard, that my family was worried.

7th victim of Highland Park July 4 parade shooting identified as Eduardo Uvaldo of Waukegan, IL

Rifle used the Highland Park shooting was a Smith and Wesson MNP 15, legally obtained by Robert Crimo, prosecutors
said.

Prosecutors say Highland Park shooter’s rifle fell out of his bag when he was leaving scene. Didn’t intentionally leave gun.

Prosecutor said Crimo made a voluntary statement confessing to the attack, telling police he “dressed up like a girl and covered his tattoos with makeup because people recognized him.”

Highland Park shooter’s attorney Tom Durkin says he has a conflict and can no longer represent shooter. Says shooter will need public defender.

No bond. Preliminary hearing set for July 28th at 1:30pm

@Tom_Winter

BREAKING | NBC News: Police say Crimo told them he considered, after seeing a celebration, in Madison, WI that he contemplated conducting a second shooting there and had 60 round left but ultimate decided not to.

@TVTye

While the motive for the July 4 attack remains unclear, police said Crimo had an affinity with the numbers 4 and 7 based on the music he liked.

Disposed of his phone in Madison, WI -- that has since been recovered.

*Authorities not talking about cooperation or possible charges against family members.

*Still looking to speak with a witness who saw him drop something into a red cloth.

*Weapon he had on him in Madison: Kel-Tec SUB-2000.

*From the roof the defendant reloaded his weapon three times. 83 spent shell casings were recovered from the roof.

Hoping for criminal charges against the father asap. He knew that his son had been assessed as dangerous- yet still facilitated fire arms purchases for him.

Yes!!!

The zoo was cleared, all visitors and staff were safely escorted out. Unknown ( at this time) what the reason actually was. Total of two hours on lockdown. Rumors are of course circulating as to why the lockdown was called, but nothing official has been said by LE or Zoo officials.

ETA: Update

Thank god! GOOD NEWS!

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone lately.

I am not happy with the way things are going in America right now, mass killings, and no answers on how to stop the next one.

I guess since he was 19 years old at the time, and therefore an adult, it was harder to do than if he had been a juvenile.
True.
He would have to be taken in what is called a “5150.”
Had a 5150 hold been done when it was warranted MOO he would have been in the system and his record would have come up during a gun purchase.

It is difficult because the aim of the whole system is to keep
People out of the system.

Thank you. I found a different article on this gun. Interesting that it folds up - to a length of only 7 inches. It is fairly cheap running around $500.

In the questioning - the sheriff said he had a kel-tech sub 200 (not 2000) so I went back and looked but it seems there isn't a model 200 - so maybe just a typo? IDK This was the gun he had on him when they found him.

They also said he had bought a Glock 43X and a Remington 700.

I looked those up. The Remington is interesting and talks about being a sniper rifle - but I couldn't really find anything about magazines or ammo capacity. But it seems this gun is not capable of holding large capacity magazines without modification and they have said the guns were not modified.

The Glock is just a hand gun (pistol type).

He left the one from the parade shooting on the roof and they still have not really said what type of gun that was and they seem to be really interested in finding that woman witness of him leaving something in a red blanket. They will not elaborate what was left in that blanket.

Since he fired over 70 rounds on the roof - its hard to say what weapon he had on the roof - as he had to reload 3 times (with 30 round magazines).

Money-wise - these guns are cheap.

Kel tech sub 2000 - around $500.
Remington 700 - $500 - $900 (new)
Glock 43X - $500.

Plus the "other one" not identified and the shotgun makes up the 5 he bought. So he spent well over $2000. on just the weapons and then needed the magazines (3 at the parade and 2 he had with him in the car is 5 magazines) plus the ammunition to fill them.

I also found that the kel tech sub 2000 is a "hard to find" weapon for sale (probably because its cheap).

I am BY NO WAY a "gun person" so reading about these guns and trying to figure out some of this is new to me. Maybe some gun enthusiasts can chime in with more knowledge.

I believe he had a Smith and Wesson M&P15. It’s a AR 15 style rifle.

Thank you - where did you see that this is the weapon identified by LE? I have not heard anything about a smith and wesson weapon being used.

Never mind - I just found it.

Here:

The gun used in the Highland Park July 4th parade mass shooting that killed eight and wounded dozens was a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 rifle, authorities have revealed.
