Sources announced Saturday that a father and husband has been arrested, just over a week after his wife and three children were found dead in a sport-utility vehicle in the far southwest suburbs.

Meanwhile, funerals are held for the family in suburban St. Louis.

Christopher Vaughn, 32, was processed between 6 and 9 a.m. Saturday morning, sources in the St. Charles, Mo., Police Department told CBS 2 West Suburban Bureau Chief Mike Puccinelli.

The Will County state's attorney's office is holding a news conference for early Saturday afternoon to discuss the break in the case. They did not elaborate ahead of the news conference.

Wonderful. I knew LE was just getting their ducks in a row, and that is takes several days even with priority processing to get all of the tests complete. If he did indeed do it, at least we know LE took the time to do it right.

Christopher Vaughn, whose wife and three children were found slain in their SUV in Will County earlier this month, is now charged with killing all four family members, authorities announced today.

Vaughn was taken into custody this morning in Missouri — the same day his family was laid to rest. He is charged with eight counts of first degree murder, according to prosecutors.

A press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. today in Joliet, where the Will County State’s Attorney’s office will announce details of the investigation. The news of the charges was announced by press release prior to the news conference.

I registered for Chicago Tribune access and I was ok for one day, the following day I cannot access there. Too much mickey mouse to re and re register there.

The psycho folk need to run batteries of tests on this man to see what makes his head work. He and SP must think they have special IQ's. WE as a society should be enabled pretty soon to ID this sort of person BEFORE they kill innocent people.
HIS days in the striped jail cell spa, should consist of mental imaging, and Rohrchach sp? (ink blot tests), etc. etc.

My attention will soon shift to the missing pregnant mom in Ohio. Here I do believe is yet another man with IQ problems, his brain functions like a well known yellow fruit. Rather indelicate, but they truly are mentally deficient, in matters of respect to women.

And they let him go to the funeral before arresting him, so he could blubber like a victim himself, loosing his whole family.

Someone should of just shot him and saved the county a whole bunch of money. I'm sick of these sociopathic men, having children and loving wives and murdering the innocents.

Well thank goodness he is in custody, I just knew he did this from the begining. His story made no sense what so ever and I hope he burns not only for murdering his family but for also trying to blame the murder of the children on his lovely wife.:furious:

The Oswego man was charged with eight counts of first-degree murder and authorities are preparing to bring him back to Illinois.

Christopher Vaughn is being held without bond in the St. Charles County detention center, Glasgow said. He said his office will attempt to speed up the extradition process, starting Monday morning and are planning on asking for the assistance of Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Glasgow declined to release a possible motive at a news conference this afternoon, but said a "plethora" of evidence was reviewed, including a 9-mm handgun found in the vehicle that police tracked back to Christopher Vaughn purchasing in the state of Washington.

I was so excited to see they'd arrested him! We knew he was guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty! Now we just have to wait for him to waste both states money while he fights extradition and then a trial when he knows he's a lying and (alledged) murderer!

I'm also glad they arrested him BEFORE the actual funeral. IMHO, he had NO RIGHT to be there yesterday or today.

Justice for these poor innocent victims! Such a waste of these beautiful beings.

I certainly don't mean to say that I feel I need to be afraid of my mate, but these kinds of happenings always force me to look at our relationship, in contrast to others' marriages or how I perceive them to be. I always come away from the reading shrugging my shoulders thinking "that could be anyone". People are always described as any other couple I know, which creeps me out. The power thing always seems to be a recurring thread though or similar in a lot of cases.

How is 8 counts of 1st degree murder?? Just convict him of 4 counts right now and put him in the CHAIR!!!

ICk. I just read that article on their contrasting personalities. The "Hello it's 6 where's my dinner" made me ill did the comment that he "walked with a frickin' swagger". What a dumba$$. I hope he enjoys his time in the slammer. I'm not for the death penalty... I'd rather that he live to a very ripe old age getting someone else's dinner on the table.
