And they let him go to the funeral before arresting him, so he could blubber like a victim himself, loosing his whole family.

Someone should of just shot him and saved the county a whole bunch of money. I'm sick of these sociopathic men, having children and loving wives and murdering the innocents.

Unfortunately our country would eventually fall into utter chaos if that was allowed to happen, but it is an appealing thought. I don't care what his stupid motive turns out to be, I will never understand how he could have so cold bloodedly killed his entire family one by one. What a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬-insert as many cusswords as you want-🤬🤬🤬!!

This one has struck such a nerve with me, as my kids are 2 girls, 19 and 18, and a boy, 15. The exact same setup as these kids would have been in 7 years, had that sorry excuse for a human being sperm donor b*stard let them live. And he is their FATHER, I just can't get my head around it.

I am in St.Louis, and they just said on newschannel 5 that each was shot 2 times, including the wife. There's the evidence I need to say he is guilty. A person commiting suicide would not have a very high chance of being able to shoot themselves twice.

It's great news that LE were able to make an arrest so quickly. The first article indicated that they arrested him before he went to the funerals - that's a nice touch, I think.

I can't wait to hear more about their case - forensics and motives. I think it's the double life thing, for sure. I can't fathom how that would lead you to murder your 3 children along with your wife....get a divorce, for heaven's sake.

The brutality and stupidity of his crime truly shocks me.

And what the hell took so long to arrest him when everyone in the world knows he did it?

a silly little concept called due process....

Glad to hear he was arrested too.

Thought this was interesting:
Friends say couple a study in contrasts

I certainly don't mean to say that I feel I need to be afraid of my mate, but these kinds of happenings always force me to look at our relationship, in contrast to others' marriages or how I perceive them to be. I always come away from the reading shrugging my shoulders thinking "that could be anyone". People are always described as any other couple I know, which creeps me out. The power thing always seems to be a recurring thread though or similar in a lot of cases.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to think my husband would never do anything like that to me, but now it's "I don't think my husband would ever do that.":(

Wife shot twice! Chris Vaughn must be missing many many brain cells.

I wonder if his original plan was to say a stranger did it. I wonder what his story will become now - what will he plead if the evidence against him is as overwhelming as it seems likely to be?

I am so glad that they arrested this guy! The entire scenario was suspect from the very beginning.

This was just what they said on the news-I have heard conflicting reports, whether she was shot once or twice. I am interested to hear which is right. Editing to say our local channel has in print she was shot once, so I was mistaken,or it was reported wrong.

It will be interesting to follow the trial - unless he pleads guilty?

I wonder what the IL laws are that they were able to charge him with 8 counts?

Also glad to see they arrested him before the funeral - it must have been awful for the family at the wake yesterday...

wonder how many bullets were left in the clip of the 9mm handgun?
Also wonder IF IF any girlfriend type person has stepped forward, YET?

--->>>Another contradiction as well I quote from this link:
"Glasgow said he hoped Vaughn would be extradited from Missouri to Illinois soon. He said Vaughn indicated he intended to fight extradition."

I believe it was one of Chico's links that said Vaughn would not fight extradiction, hmmm.

Fran, do you understand the nuances of fighting versus just being willing to go back to Illinois? I am not up on the legal aspects of this.

~snip~

Glasgow is calling the investigation a "death penalty" case. His office has under Illinois law, 120 days to make a final decision. His office is asking for Rod Blagojevich's help to expedite the extradition process from Missouri to Illinois.

<snip>
Prosecutor James Glasgow, who declined to discuss possible motives, said Vaughn with charged with two murder counts per victim. One set of counts alleges he shot with intent to kill and the other alleges he shot knowing that it was likely to cause death or great bodily harm.

Here is my guess about extradition. I think it is all about delay or speed. If you want to go to trial quickly, that is the DA does not have a strong case and you want them to have to go with what they have, you would waive extradition. or of for whatever reason you want o move ahead or look cooperative you would not fight it.
If you need more time to prepare your defense and want to delay trial as long as possible, you would fight extradition. I think it is all about the time element because I don't think there is any trick to extradition.

It would surely be a death penalty case in Texas or many other states.

What a terrible crime, he deserves no pity and much less than he gave his family.

This is all too much.
Jessie Marie Davis's body was found today. Her married, policeman, boyfriend confessed.:banghead:

And this scum Vaugh-:behindbar. Shot and killed his wife and 3 children.
What a scum.

I think you're right here JBean. Fighting extradition just delays the process.

I seem to recall a guy (he was tried here on OC, but the crimes were in Northern Calif.), he was wanted for multiple murders etc. He was caught in Canada and delayed his extradition back to the U.S. for 12 years, IIRC. He was eventually convicted, of course, but didn't he cause enough delays that it took a total of 20 (including the 12) years before he was convicted?
