Same here, and I lost patience with it.

I'm fascinated as to motive too - he was a young husband and father...did he slowly over the years feel like he was missing out and this wan't the life he wanted? That coupled with a woman on the side and some financial stresses....did he just say, I want to start over?

Now how you justify that desire by deciding the best way to achieve it is to kill your family is beyond me....

I can't help but think as his wife began her education, he started feeling like he was being cheated, as she was no longer playing by the rules. I will be somewhat surprised if he had someone on the side, but if he did I will be VERY surprised if it turns out it was anything serious. I also wonder about their finances. I still haven't seen much of anything on that, but my theory is he had a very rigid idea of what everyone's roles in his little fantasy family were. If there were money troubles, I doubt his wife had a clue, and he probably floundered for a little while trying to 'fix' it. Then he decided he was a failure as a provider, so it was time to hit the reset button and start over. I think if it was just a matter of his wife getting a degree, he would have killed her only. I do think this was premeditated, and I do think the kids were killed for more than just being witnesses.
Just expressing my opinion.

Gosh, I got on no problem - I don't even know if I ever registered. It's a good article. Keep trying. I would post the whole thing here for you, but don't want to get into trouble!

I haven't got to get online since yesterday morning. After Bobbie Cutts confessed to killing Jessie, I told my husband now if Chris Vaughn gets arrested, I'll be a happy gal.

I'm a happy gal.:woohoo: :woohoo:
Me too. I'm glad they chose to arrest him before others had to put up with fake tears at the service for the family. :loser:

It will be really interesting to find out about his "secret" life. I am almost willing to bet there was one--which included at least one woman and financial problems.

It's just so sad that he had to murder four innocent people. Of course, he would never allow his wife to move on because she could easily have done so. His ego or his wallet would not have been able to stand it.

Yes - I think it's the secret life motive and not the controlling SOB who didn't like that she got a degree motive.

If Chris Vaughn was so obviously overwhelmingly controlling, people would have been coming out of the woodwork by now to say so, IMHO. But most of his friends, acquaintances, etc... seem genuinely dumbfounded that he could do such a thing.

We know he was taciturn, but seemed devoted....that leads me to believe a whole secret thing was going on behind the scenes that no one in his life knew about...and I too think it has to do with sex/finances....

Make no mistake. I also think that he was very controlling and suspicious type. That's because he was projecting his own misdeeds on to his wife. He couldn't be trusted; therefore, he watched her like a hawk.

This guy is a scum in the worst sort of way. He even looks like a weasel in the photos.

Of course it's totally judgmental on my part, but I thought the same think when I saw his booking photo - he has such a dark, negative light to me. More than just him being unhappy to be there, ya know?

I think he was controlling too - people who lead secret lives have to be - but I don't think the wife getting a degree and moving out of the confines of his controlling belief system was the main motive. It may have added to it.

More than anything else, I think this guy wanted to be completely free of the life he had because he had another life going on somehow.

I don't think that it is judgmental. I prefer to think of it as being objective or making an observation. ;)

How did she or anyone miss that he might be capable of something like this? I can only imagine she was miserable, and did her best to put on a good face, keep her chin up and do the best to keep those dark secrets and her husbands dark side away from her children.

What kind of sick f*&% can claim to be a "loving father" for over a decade and wipe out his entire family. How can you do that to the children you brought into this world.

I hope they throw the book at him, and they choose the death penalty!

Were the murders ALL about power? Was that the angry motive?

Did he have another female, another life, or another child? IF IF that is possible, is it also possible that she is not aware of the events of the last week or so?

Would it 'violate' his rights to plaster his picture on every cable newscast for a week or so? So that others who know of his possible other activities would come forward?

Jack the obituary brought tears to my eyes. The little boy, and the girls showed such promise, wiped out so that this 'piece of work' can still breathe air.

Two weeks before he killed his family, he told a few friends he had a girl friend.

Do you know any more details? Where does his girlfriend live? I wonder if the girlfriend even knew he was married with children. Now, of course, she knows that she was dating a mass murderer.

It sounds like he was a quiet man and she was an outgoing optimist. She may have mistook his taciturn nature over the years as contentment, when - really - something else was going on behind the scenes.

There had to be distance in the marriage if he was traveling Tuesday through Sunday. She probably put any "changes" off on that. He was probably naturally good at keeping secrets and the work travel thing just helped.

I do believe if she thought something big was going on behind the scenes with him, she would have talked to her family about it - particularly her twin sister. The fact that she didn't (as far as we know today) mention anything like this to her sister leads me to believe she really had no idea.

Even if she did - for the sake of arguement - know about the affair and mentioned it to her sister - it's a huge leap to make to think her husband who was having an affair was planning to murder his entire family. I don't think she saw this coming.
It seems to me that when you've been married for a long time and are raising three kids and going to school and running a business, your life can get so hectic that you allow the relationship to go on automatic pilot and just assume everything's okay unless there's a major red flag.

Perhaps that's what happened here. I do not think he's mentally ill and I have a hard time believing he did this in a moment of passion. That only leaves a calculated murder....

I would personally have had a MAJOR problem with a husband that did not communicate with me every day on just PLAIN stuff.

Communication consists of all things, verbal, physical, touching, feeling, sharing, being there for each other. IF IF IF that is not part of the marriage, then why bother being married at all. Picking your nose, pharting, laughing, sharing funny things that happen, sharing coo coo things that happened during the day. It appears to me that Mr. Vaughn was MISSING IN ACTION, when he was home he was still MISSING it looks like, question would then be why?

Mentions in the various articles about Mrs. attending church, but no mention of husband attending. I am a touchy feely person, artististic in nature, and love a rugged man that is also touchy feely and totally in tune with life, and THAT would include ME, and OUR children.

Wonder what sort of an educational background Mr. Vaughn had? They did marry quite young, he had to be about 24, and she would have been 20.

Being well educated and in tune with the world and each other, and sharing intelligent conversation is great, but to be in tune with your mate on all things is even greater. Having the ability to be there mentally and physically for each other is the 'everything' of marriage in my book.

He was several marbles short of having a full bag of them.

I think it is really easy not to really know the person your spouse has become if they travel a lot. I liken it to the "weekend parent" thing. Children have no idea what kind of parent someone is if they only see them every other weekend. My clients would often complain that the weekend ex put on a fun front for the kids, while the one who was there all week had no choice but to be real. If he only rolled in on the weekends, she may not have known the real him. And then, when one spouse travels, the other needs a bit of a break when they come home. There could be resentment from that also.
