Philamena, I am always upset that we have to feed, clothe, provide all the basics to these guys. I really get upset that they get to go to "college" and receive a law degree and try and challendge their trials. I still would like to just do the old fashioned firing squad. Im not a good shot, but I'll tell you, he would be very nervous if I had a gun in my hand.

In a hearing before Judge Dan Rozak that lasted two minutes, Christopher Vaughn, 32, appeared via a video connection. Vaughn wore a red jail uniform and twice brushed his hair in the five minutes that he sat in front of a camera before the hearing.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow dropped the four charges and said he would pursue four charges that say Vaughn knowingly shot his wife and children with the intent to kill them.

Joliet defense attorney Gerald Kielian told Rozak that he would enter a not-guilty plea. Rozak set a preliminary hearing for July 27.

Obviously the DA feels like he has intent covered to keep the toughest charges. Wonder what Vaugh said to land himself on suicide watch? I'd think almost anyone is his shoes would consider suicide...I know I would.

I don't think this guy would kill himself. He likes himself to much. I mean he brushed his hair 2 times before going on the video link.

Vaughn appeared in court via video-hookup from the jail. He looked calm and focused, at times wiping a stray strand of hair from his forehead. Wearing red jail garb, he was without the goatee he had when arrested last month.

~snip~

With the suicide watch, Vaughn is under constant observation and is given clothing designed to prevent inmates from hanging themselves.

Probably just swiping at a few strands rather than the earlier report of "brushing" his hair. lolol Sounds like he's in the blue taco.

He said Vaughn was on suicide watch because of statements he allegedly made to state troopers while being transported from Missouri and while being booked.

~snip~

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow, who said he would personally prosecute the case, said he has not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty, and has about 120 days to make up his mind.

Will County Circuit Judge Daniel Rozak set a preliminary hearing for July 27.

It always seems like such a joke to put a killer on suicide watch!:boohoo: JMO, but who cares??? I guess the state is responsible if he does something like that, but I would imagine most people would think it just saved the tax payers a ton of money in court fees!!!

kinsey milhoune,
I agree. Who cares? This lowlife blew his entire family away......he should have killed himself and let them live.

Yup. If I had anything to do with it, I would hand him a loaded gun, a rope to hang himself with, a knife, and a bunch of presription meds and liquor. Let him do with it what he may. Disgusting sorry-excuse for a man.

I'm thinking he "allegedly" made these comments to get himself put and kept by himself, because he knows he's a goner if put in with other inmates.

Very well could be.....

This case has disappeared from the national news lately. It's one of those mysteries as to why this case never got THAT much national attention as some other cases have.

You would think this would get a lot of attention since it has more victims that most cases and includes the 2 most vulnerable members of society--women and children.

Not to mention the way he deceived, even more than Scott Peterson was alleged to have.

Christopher Vaughn, the Oswego man accused of murdering his wife and three children, was removed Monday from suicide watch at the Will County Jail, said Pat Barry, spokesman for Sheriff Paul Kaupas.

~snip~

But doctors and jail personnel have determined Vaughn is not a threat to himself, Barry said.

Vaughn remains under close observation in the medical unit, his location since he was extradited last week from Missouri, where he was arrested June 23 as he arrived for the funeral of his family. By Thursday, he will be placed either with the general population or under protective custody in special housing, Barry said.
