Christopher Vaughn's lawyer is waiting for information from the state about computers seized from the man's former home in Oswego.

But the analysis has been delayed, a state prosecutor explained Friday.

~snip~

The lab that has been working on the analysis is in the process of moving. And one of key people working on the case at the lab has been on vacation, she added.

Vaughn will return to court at 9:30 a.m. July 11.

Chico,Thanks for the update. This case and its delays is just shameful! Way to go, Will County!

Often, slow and steady makes the case. I would rather everything be done correctly - even if it takes more time - than rushed and lost on sloppy work. While the quest for "justice" should be as swift as possible, time should be taken as it is needed.

I am fascinated to hear what evidence they have gathered. As best I can tell, no one has cracked their teeth about motive, etc...

This case has never left my mind and I look forward to hearing what comes out at trial.

southcity mom, at the end of the day,I think you are correct.
I just am frustrated that this case has dropped out of sight, but guess that will make finding an impartial jury easier....and no request for change of venue, etc. And yes, better to dot all the i's and cross all the t's on this one!

I do hear you, NNY - and I feel the same way because this case has a compelling hold on me and has from the first article. I am crazy to know more - to know why!

I don't necessarily understand why some cases garner loads of newsprint and video and some don't. In the end, I don't care - as long as a solid, fair trial can go forward. It may even be better without a ton of pre-trial publicity - that really seems to screw things up sometimes.

Thanks for correction; I just skimmed the article,
but I assume that after the investigators are done with the ring, and IF this case ever gets to trial (!!!), that Kimberly Vaughn's family will indeed get the ring back......

I would imagine once it is back in the hands of LE they will notify her parents that they can come and pick it up. I got to take my daughter's keys and some pictures out of her purse right away. A little later they gave me her rings, watch, and earrings. Way later they gave me her purse, and things that were in her car that didn't get ruined. I've never gotten back her personal journals though. Why they won't let me have them back is beyond me. He pled guilty so there were no appeals.

If there is blood on the ring I hope LE cleans it off. My daughter's earrings still had blood on them :furious: It was really upsetting but I didn't raise a fuss about it. I was just so glad to get them.

Christopher Vaughn's lawyer has given a ring that belonged to Vaughn's wife to the Will County State's Attorney's Office.

Now the jewelry can be returned to Kimberly Vaughn's family.

~snip~

Earlier this year, Kimberly Vaughn's family sought the return of her wedding ring. She was wearing it at the time of her death. After the murders, a funeral home employee in St. Charles, Mo. -- the Vaughns' former home town -- had given the ring to the local police. They, in turn, gave it to the lawyer representing Christopher Vaughn at the time.

The ring then was passed to Gail Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn's mother.

~snip~

Rozak then scheduled the next case management conference for 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5.

Thanks, Chico, for keeping us up to date on this case! I cannot believe how long it has taken for this to go to trial....now nearly 18 months since the murders!

It is almost 2009. When do you think this will go to trial?
