This is worrisome. Where would Krystian go? What sort of personal property did he leave behind at the apartment? How is his English? Does he have any friends in the area? Hopefully he's somewhere safe.

Hoping he is okay. What could have happened? Could he have taken a walk and got lost?

I live in Chicago - the area in which he went missing has a huge Ukrainian and Polish community. If he was lost while walking the area, it is very unlikely he would not have found someone he could communicate with to ask for help if his English wasn't strong. Chicago as a whole has a large Polish population, I live 12 miles west of downtown and regularly hear it being spoken fluently at my local deli.

If you open the rendering of this John Doe you can see they gave him light eyes.. and his hair is not black in the rendering. I think this is NamUs #MP68816 Hunter Alan Bruner.

Visually i see where youre going but the biggest thing is that Hunter's circumstances lend themselves to suicide IMO. Tacoma is also very far from Chicago. Ofc it's not out of the question that a soldier may stage a suicide scene to go AWOL...

I was thinking he went AWOL.. I know Chicago is not very close. BUT I also couldn't figure out where he was from-if it was the midwest maybe he had help getting there. OR if he did go AWOL I would assume he wouldn't want to stay near where he left. And I also couldn't get over how much the rendering and the photo of Hunter looked alike.

I emailed the cook county medical examiner. Fingers crossed that family finally gets closure.

Doubtful. Doe is two inches shorter and a whopping hundred pounds heavier than Krystian
The John Doe's height and weight is estimated.. If he was in the water a long time that wouldn't be easy to estimate.

I think this John Doe is him:

NamUs #UP120739

Good find, but personally, I'm doubtful it's him
(1) The body was found only a month after the young man went missing. Given the very cold water temps, it's unlikely the body would have degraded to the point that the ME's estimate would be off by 100 pounds. However, the jeans size were Zara Size 34. If that was the Zara UK brand and sizing which would indicate a smaller build than 270 pounds. But if they were a "knock off" Zara jean, the sizing might have been different.

(2) BUT, the face was recognizable as were the eyes. The John Doe had brown eyes. The missing young man had blue eyes. After death, if there are any kind of color changes to the eye it's when the eye may appear somewhat lighter (a bluer or grey like appearance) due to corneal opacity. If John Doe had brown eyes, he had brown eyes while living.

(3) The facial features of the decedant were recognizible. The ME would likely have photos of the missing in the area for comparitive purposes. No matches were made that we are aware of.

It would be interesting to know what he was studying in Poland and how those studies were going. If, for example, he was not doing well there might be more temptation for him to deliberately go missing in the US with the intention of overstaying his visa.

No, the brown eyes and hair is wrong. I already confirmed that with a medical examiners assistant months ago.

It's rare for these estimates to be wrong as much as 100 pounds.

I understand. I have a missing friend from Chicago that they put her weight in as 60 pounds more than she was till her sister and I got them to change it. That’s why I don’t fully go by the weight when it comes to Chicago.

Polish citizens, as many other Europeans, can only remain 90 days with a Visa / ESTA .
He disappeared after 4 months in the US. Did he have a job permit ?
