no place to stay in rockford? its not a far drive. motels get pricey after awhile and their family is in chicago.

Chicago Police said they are still waiting on the FBI to finish DNA testing.

Also, the grandmother was quoted in a news article published today:

“I don’t want people to forget about my grandbaby,” Cameshia Harris said. Harris, who lives in Atlanta, flew to Chicago earlier this month to help her daughter, Lanisha Knox, who has submitted a DNA sample to police to check against the remains found in the Garfield Park lagoon.

“I left Georgia, and I came here, and I’m officially off work, and I’m in Chicago until we find my grandson. I’m not returning home until we know something about what’s going on with my grandbaby; until we find him, and he’s in our hands,” Harris said.

Harris said there is a $10,000 reward for information reuniting her family with Kyrian.

Again, why is the family in Chicago when Kyrian went missing in Rockford??

If that happened, why would the caregiver make up the story about sending her off with the tats couple?

They would have to have some explanation as to where Kyrian went while in the caregivers custody. They couldn't just say K walked away from the caregivers home and nobody went looking for him or reported him missing for almost a month.

It is hard for me to believe that the caregivers would be in collusion with the mom in order to cover up up a kidnapping/possible murder. They hardly knew each other.

I am sad to say that I think it is all too clear in my gut what happened. I think one of the caregivers made a bad mistake--maybe a punishment went too far----and they needed to stall the mother as long as possible and come up with a believable story about where the boy went to. JMO :cow:

I also believe that the main reason the caregiver was arrested was because LE wants to keep him on ice while they try to get enough evidence to charge him with something bigger.

Yes, that's a very common tactic. And I agree, it makes me doubly or triply suspicious.

Rockford has plenty of cheap hotels and some even that are pay by the week and very cheap. The only thing I can think of that would keep them in Chicago would be the proximity of the airport and limited transportation. I would be camped outside the police department pushing daily for updates if this were my baby.

I'm coming around to this myself, slowly but surely.

As to why the mom is in Chicago and not Rockford, then why did she leave her son with a practical stranger in Rockford, herself stay in Chicago with FAMILY for this length of time, but didn't leave Kyrian with FAMILY to begin with in Chicago.

it doesnt matter how cheap motels are, if you are of limited means and you can stay for free w relatives, im sure most would go that route. i can tell you, myself, i would not be able to pay for a motel cheap or not right now. i have $145 to last until 10/9.

i cant answer that, but i know the option of staying w the same ppl in rockford is out for now.

We don't know whether the caregiver was practically a stranger.

Maybe the relatives in Chicago weren't in a position to care for a toddler for several weeks.

If my child was missing from Rockford, you can be sure that I will be in Rockford and branch out from there. I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would open up their doors to a mom with a missing kid from town.

Where is this $10,000 reward coming from??

SBM They couldn't just say K walked away from the caregivers home and nobody went looking for him or reported him missing for almost a month.

I have no idea what happened, but what you say here could be a possibility, sounds plausible to me anyway. Mum had no direct contact during that time, so it may have happened ?

i would too, dont get me wrong, id be up LE's butt. id be searching all by myself if i had to. but i wouldnt impose on ppl i dont know for lodging either.

So the other child wouldn't be alone, maybe? The caretaker was watching the two kids. Maybe they wanted them to stick together.

that makes sense. But I really want to know when the best friend picked up her son from the home. Why wouldn't she have picked up Ky at the same time? She goes to her Dad's to pick up her little boy and she leaves her room mates little boy there? I have a hard time understanding that part.

Do we know for sure if the other child was picked up before Kyrian was reported missing? I know we discussed it before but I can't remember if it was confirmed.

I don't think there was a confirmed date. I wish we knew.

Was Lanisha and her best friend staying together in Cedar Rapids and moving into a different apartment together in Marion?

Good question. That is what the initial info implied. But I do not know if it was valid info.
