Just getting caught up on more about Kyrian's case.

So from what I understand or read from the conflicting reports over the past week:

Mom was in the process of moving from one city in IA to another.

Mom was also starting a new job in her new city

Mom had to do some training for this new job, get household moved from one city to another

Mom and BFF decide to go to Chicago for a visit for a few days

Mom's BFF also has a child around same age as Kyrian, suggests her family member could watch both children as the friends are in Chicago and then while the move in IA is happening

Mom drops Kyrian mid August (around the 15th or the 17th) off at the friend's family member's home in Rockford (caretaker)

Some reports state that mom and friend stopped to check in on the kids on their return from Chicago to IA which may be the August 17th date origin and some report Kyrian was last seen on the date she dropped him off, also reported as the 17th by some outlets.

She phoned the caretaker once back in IA occasionally to speak to her son (but got no return feedback that specifically could ID Kyrian as the person on the other end of the phone) several times in the next several weeks.

She states timing was an issue for the caretaker when she made attempts to arrange to come get Kyrian.

She states the caretaker's GF indicated confusion one day when she attempted to make contact about Kyrian on 9-17 and then later received a call from LE that her child is reported missing. Some indications that the caretaker made the report to police. Caretaker is currently in custody over charges completely unrelated to Kyrian.

LE from Chicago is checking into possibility that Kyrian is the child whose dismembered remains were found in Garfield Park lagoon.

Mom feels strongly that her son is not that child.

DNA has been taken from mom in efforts to rule Kyrian out as that victim.

Do I have the gist?

Just reposting this very good timeline posted by Tlcya earlier in the thread.

If Lanisha and her bff were staying together or even kept in close contact with each other I would find it very peculiar if the best friend picked up her child without picking up Kyrian or that she wouldn't have at the very least questioning her father as to where Kyrian was and told Lanisha if he wasn't still there.

You would surly think this best friend must have known Kyrian should have still been staying with her father, if he wasn't with Lanisha.

I disagree. I have a 2 year old. When I've put him on the phone with his Grandma, he listens and sits in complete silence.

I'm sure it differs from child to child. However, I have 5 kids with 5 distinct personalities and traits which have been noticeable since infancy. I'm not saying at all that because of this I am an expert. What I will say is that I've been away from my kids (sometimes all of them, sometimes a couple or one of them depending on the situation). Even the quietest would've made some noise at that age. A gurgle, a coo, a word, a breath, a cough, etc. I know the difference between talking to a toddler and listening to a phone that's been set on a table or whatever.

My point is, if mom was really "talking" to him everyday up to some point, even for just a minute, there would've been some kind of feedback noise that was audible. At the very least, the caretakers would've likely been coaching him..."talk to Mommy, Mommy's on the phone. Say hi to Mommy! Do you love Mommy? Give her a kiss on the phone!" etc.

Do we know for sure if the other child was picked up before Kyrian was reported missing? I know we discussed it before but I can't remember if it was confirmed.

It was reported in a couple of places, but not in others, so I've been taking it as a "possible event" not a definite one. And some of the reports gave me the impression that the friend not finding K there was what led to the missing child report.

Very little has been confirmed officially though.

I guess my experience has been a bit different. Many times on the phone with my son's grandparents it goes like this...

"Say hi to Grandma!" Followed by putting the phone to his face. Grandma talks. Silence on my sons end. I get back on the phone..."He's smiling." Then I tell him to say hi some more, etc. Then he runs off to play and I tell the grandparents that. Literally not a sound. Of course, my son has a speech delay. Says no real words. Doesn't make any sounds on command. So that is probably why I have a slightly different perspective. Due to those things, we try to Skype instead of just use the phone.

I thought it was Lanisha's text to the gf of the caregiver was what triggered the missing report.

A mother of a missing toddler with ties to Rockford sends out a plea to help find her son. The investigation has Rockford Police looking at all possible connections including a recent investigation in Chicago.

Yesterday, Rockford Police announced Kyrian Knox, 2, went missing from a home in Rockford. But it's unclear exactly how long he's been missing. We do know Chicago Police were in Rockford on Friday. They took DNA from the mother of the missing toddler.

The mother of Kyrian Knox says she doesn't think her son is dead. She says he is out there waiting to be found.

"He has a really great smile and he's really friendly," says Lanisha Knox.

Kyrian Knox is two years old. His mother says he loves race cars, balls and playing on the swings at the park. She brought her son to Rockford, August 18th. She said she was in the process of moving from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Chicago. She had family friends in Rockford who agreed to care for her son.
Knox says she would call regularly but Kyrian never spoke to her. She said he would just listen to her talk to him. Knox says on Thursday she called the friend who didn't pick up the phone so she sent a text.

"I said this is Lanisha, I'm calling to talk to Kyrian. She said 'wait, what, I'm confused.' She never let on that my kid was gone," Knox says.

She said she found out her son was missing Thursday night when the Rockford Police Department called her. She says they were at her friend's home in Rockford and told her Kyrian was missing.

Bringing MissSunshine's post forward from the beginning of the thread. Lanisha was notified by LE that Kyrian was missing after she texted her friend that she was going to pick Kyrian up. The friend responded "Wait, what, I'm confused". My thought is that the friend then notified LE, but that's just speculation on my part. LE called Lanisha later that day and told her Kyrian was missing.

Wait! Now I'm confused! From the above link "She had family friends in Rockford who agreed to care for her son." So isn't that the friends father and his SO and not the friend whose child they watched with Ky?

Mom just posted that there will be another search on Saturday in Rockford. They will walk around and hand out flyers. They will take the bus there.

Was Lanisha and her best friend staying together in Cedar Rapids and moving into a different apartment together in Marion?
The two women were in the process of moving from an apartment in Marion to one in Cedar Rapids.

Yes, the friend's father. That first report is misleading.

I haven't seen that in any MSM report. FB rumor, perhaps.

Ah, girlfriend of the caregiver. I thought it was her friend that she texted.

I hate reporters who can't write basic English.

So I see there is going to be another search. I'm trying to understand why they leave Chicago at 11am but don't search Rockford until 5pm? Isn't that late to start searching?

It's 2 hours driving time from Rockford to Chicago. They are traveling by bus but a bus can't take 3 times longer?

Your right. Taking the bus wouldn't take that long. I'd think at the latest it'd get there at 3ish. Thats if it has stops and all.

This is odd to me because its starting to get dark now at around 7. That really only gives them about an hour and half or two at most to search.

I'm really wanting to support this mother in searching for her son but she has gotta wanna search for him also. I want to believe her and be sympathetic here but I just don't understand what could possibly be the hold up in searching. Maybe she needs to talk to le? Idk.

Yeah I'm confused, wouldn't you get up super early instead of meeting at 10am?

Strange.

Its bothering me that I only live about 45 min or so from Rockford and have yet to hear of one word about Kyrian from anywhere but here. I've seen nothing. Not even a single fb poster other then what I went looking for at his help find Kyrian page. Nothing.

And I don't get why LE isn't searching. I mean even if they think he is dead wouldn't they still be looking for him? I don't understand a lot of what's going on here. Makes me feel like they think they found him and are waiting for the dna test to confirm it. I'm lost.

Yes, a bus trip could easily take that long depending on how many stops, whether there's a connection, etc.

As for the rest -- I refuse to second guess. They're on the scene and I'm not.

I'm assuming that they know about Van Galder buses being from the area and not having a car. And am assuming they would take that bus to Rockford as its the cheapest option. They have non stop buses that run daily from Chicago to Rockford, Janesville, Madison and other areas some what close . Looking at the schedule if they left at 10:30 it says they should be there at 12:30. Unless if they are taking greyhound but I don't know why they would unless they don't know about van galder cause greyhound is alway so much more $

Okay so I just looked at the poster.
It says "depart at 5pm" I wonder if that is when they will be leaving Rockford to go back to Chicago?
