Has anyone been able to sleuth the guy that is in jail that kyrian was exposed to? I mean does this guy seem like a freak that could potentially dismember a toddler?
I know that his facebook page has disappeared very recently. There wasn't much to see there to begin with.

What do the mean by "in play"

That's such an odd choice of words. I mean, I know the term, but it seems too casual.... I don't know. I guess I'm just frustrated. Maybe I'm being grouchy, but I don't get what exactly they mean by using "in play"

I agree. It has a rather insensitive, almost dehumanizing tone to it. I'm sure that's not what they intended, but I think they could have worded it differently.

Guglielmi said the tests could take at least two weeks to complete.

Hasn't it been well over two weeks already? (it feels like forever) I'll have to go back and check the dates.........

It is a strange choice of words... But then, didn't they say in an earlier statement that they were "cautiously optimistic" about the Rockford lead? I remember thinking at the time, so they're cautiously optimistic that Kyrian is dead and chopped up? I understand what they meant, but the phrasing seemed very insensitive :( I guess that's just the way LE in that area talk, but it sounds brutal to us members of the public.

Chicago police are brutal. I don't think its that they don't care or anything. They've just become desensitized from all the crap they see.
I've had interactions with so many police departments and have noticed a big difference with Chicago police. I think they are just busy and get right to the point and after all the crap they see its only natural to develop a thick skin.

Thanks for posting this.

The landing page at Chicago Tribune is a paid site but I found the text version to it that is open for anyone:

"He just made 2 years old on August 5, he hasn't started talking yet", said the mom.

From this article, the DNA was sent before 9/24/15.

I'm wondering if DNA is back and if by "in play" they mean they are trying to figure who, what, when, where, and why.

I don't find the terminology harsh. It just means that Kyrian has advanced one step forward since King was ruled out. It's like saying, we've eliminated one possibility, now we move on to focus on the next one. The statement about the DNA suggests that's the case. It appears the analysis is being conducted one case at a time, starting with the most likely match. JMO

Thank you, Bessie. That makes sense. I, for one, find I read into everything I feel emotionally about.

Out of interest, why would they not do it all at the same time, Bessie? You'd think if sample A and B are already under the microscope (as it were) it would be more effective to test sample C at the same time.

Just trying to get an idea of when those "2 weeks" might be up. This article was posted last Thursday (10/15) but it doesn't say when the "variety of forensic samples" were sent to Quantico.

As for the "in play" phrase, it didn't sound harsh to me either. Just another way of them saying they're pursuing this particular lead as it hasn't been ruled out yet.

IIRC, we were waiting on the first two weeks to finally be up right at the time the mom posted on her FB a short msg saying, she had to wait another two weeks. She didn't specify any details, but if it that was in reference to the testing, the two weeks are up again, as the msg was posted on Oct. 1.

I think, moo, the dna testing has been completed a while back, and all the testing being done now is cod type stuff. It just seems LE is trying to get all their ducks in a row as much as possible to drop a bomb on somebody instead of letting them get advance warning with the info slowly trickling out. They've got the one guy in jail already, so an accomplice maybe??? IDK, I just wish they would clear or confirm baby Kyrian. His search seems to be at a stand still.

So another 2 weeks wait for the DNA, but yet the results were meant to be in nearly 2 weeks ago....

If this was my boy & I was made to wait in limbo like this I would be distraught, impatient, on to LE constantly asking for info. I see no URGENCY, speaks volumes tbh.

Does anybody know how long it took King's DNA to come back? That might be a good way to figure out when we could expect it.

It's not always that simple. It could be that the profile in King's case was easy to rule out, but not so with the profile drawn from Kyrian's mother. I've mentioned Grateful Doe here before. A sample was taken from the mother of the young man suspected to be the decendent. After months, now they want samples from a half-brother.

From the below linked article, which was posted on Sept 21, it states that the dna sample was taken for Kyrian on Friday, Sept 19. So we've been waiting a month now. I can't find any info on when King's dna was actually submitted. LE seemed pretty confident in ruling King out from the beginning, but I guess somewhere along the line they tested the dna for 100% confirmation. It came back on Oct 13. The Garfield Park baby was found Sept 1, so at the very most it took 8 weeks.

On Sunday, Rockford Police announced Kyrian Knox, 2, went missing from a home in Rockford. But it's unclear exactly how long he's been missing. We do know Chicago Police were in Rockford on Friday. They took DNA from the mother of the missing toddler.

I believe that first foot was found on Saturday afternoon 9/5/15. So even if LE collected a swab for King the next day, being the 6th, it could only be 14 days at most before Kyrian's Mom provided a sample (9/19/15. I Hope we don't have much longer to wait. I think I'm in the camp of thinking LE knows something they are not sharing.

So not only is LE not searching for Kyrian, they also aren't searching for the torso of lagoon baby (or at least that's what I'm assuming)?
