A man, who was once a person of interest in the disappearance of a boy from Rockford, is behind bars tonight on unrelated charges.

Kamel Harris was arrested for aggravated battery against a DCFS worker.

Police say he was one of two people taking care of 2-year-old Kyrian Knox, before he was found dismembered in a Chicago lagoon.

No bond is set for Harris. His next court date is Monday.

Harris and his girlfriend Danyelle Foggs are considered uncooperative witnesses in the disappearance and death of Kyrian.

Harris and Foggs lived in Rockford at the time of the boy's disappearance. They were taking care of the boy for his mother, Lanisha Knox, who was in the process of moving. Harris' daughter was a friend of Knox.

Kamel Harris was arrested Friday night after police say he pushed a DCFS worker, who was at a home on Walnut and Madison Streets investigating a matter not at all related to Knox’s disappearance. Harris made his first appearance in court yesterday. His bond is set at $65,000. He'll appear in court again next month.


CH, Kyrian's grandmother, said she speaks with detectives every week and they told her [Sunday night] that they’re waiting on new forensic lab results to move the investigation forward.

Is this going to be another case where K spends a few months in jail and NOTHING?

Not for the first time am I thinking that we are looking at the wrong party. Sure they KNOW something, maybe everything. But from day one I have focused more on the parties that DROPPED off little Kyrian, than the party that was watching him. Jmo, hunch, feeling etc.

Woman in Kyrian Knox case in Winnebago County Jail regarding 'disappearance' of infant

Danyelle Foggs, 35, was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on Tuesday. She allegedly "knowingly" gave false information on June 25 to the Rockford Police Department after she was told there is an "active juvenile custody warrant" for the child, born May 10. That's according to a criminal complaint filed in 17th Judicial Circuit Court that refers to the "disappearance of K.O.H." The complaint uses initials for the child because of her age.

Ykwit? I think that's the baby she ran with when Kamel was arrested. She was arrested later. I'll bet that baby is with a friend or relative. She probably was supposed to surrender baby to childrens services and didn't.

That was my thought too... But on the other hand, the last child she had in her care that went missing turned up chopped to pieces Poor Kyrian

Even if she thought she was handing the baby to someone who will care well for her, I wouldn't trust her judgement on the matter. Who knows where the poor baby will end up, and with what sort of people.

I agree with you 2 million percent. I wanted to counter the way the news worded it for sensationalism. I didn't want it to be misconstrued. And now you got me worrying about that little one...
